OK, I did spend as little as possible for a pull behind spreader. Wow, I got exactly what I paid for. This this is trash. First time I attempted to pull it the wheels locked up and it wouldn't spread. I found that the "eye" for the cable to open the spreader up was hitting against the spinner, keeping it from turning. (see pic) Overall, the quality is possibly as bad as you can imagine. Even the door to stop the spreading doesn't close all the way. Super cheap plastic that most of it is warped out of proper shape, and the life of this I expect to be extremely short. On second thought, maybe I overpaid for this. I already tore up the box it came in so it can't be returned, otherwise it'd be going back to the seller ASAP. Update: I reached out to Vevor about the issues I ran into, and was basically told to go away. BIG THUMBS DOWN!!!

No way to know what setting to use like on most all push type spreaders. It did not fit my very common John Deere X300 tractor without modification. It spreads but rate of dispersion is very important. You are left on your own to guess.

Good spreader but adjustment lever could have been designed better. Finished yard only to notice the lever had vibranted itself back to the closed position.

When I opened the box, were at least 5 pieces of loose hardware (the box sounded like a maraca when I opened it). I had to figure out where it all went, and obviously could not. This should have been a VERY easy assembly. Instead, it was impossible! The design is terrible (the two handles to be assemble together with two nut and bolt assemblies are round so they slide around during tightening, making it very difficult to keep aligned), etc. The slot to fix the slide gate hardware is too small and had to be drilled out. The cable for the slide gate will not attach to the slide gate (at least I can't get it to and there are NO instructions for how to do so, the instructions just end before that part). The tub has exposed metal hardware (corrosion). The description says that it has four baffles (it has only three). The cover for it is so cheaply made that it might as well be made out of paper. To add insult to injury, this is an expensive spreader! It costs as much or more than the 130 lb tow behind version (after discounts). BUYER BEWARE!

The gearbox broke within the first 10' of use. Everything is made of plastic and held together with cotter pins. The spread rate controller is also useless, the lockdown mechanism just falls off. Enormous waste of time and money.

Assembly was quick and easy, it did a good job spreading salt on my driveway and the lever to open and close the discharge slot is easily reached from the seat of my riding lawnmower. The bottom screen is to fine for rock salt to pass through, I can’t think of a reason to use the screen at all no matter what you are spreading.
