This is my first planer. I never had nor used one before now. I read some reviews that complained about the dust collection effectiveness and went ahead to hook up my shop vac to the planer port. So far I am amazed at the amount of wood dust and chips my vac collects! I have a Ridgid Vac that is probably at least 5 or 6 years old. The meager amount of wood that escapes the vac is almost nil. And most importantly, this planer is the bomb. It makes mince meat out of anything I put through it. I turned some older boards sitting in my garage from disasters to something even my wife was impressed with. I recommend this planer to any home hobbyist who will use it for light to moderate work. It doesn't have many miles on it yet but it will have soon. And for the money I think it would be hard to beat.

What I got to say about this item I have two of them one of us works great the other one that I bought he has three blades so after I use it for the first time the rollers stop pushing now without So I took it up to myself to open them and see what's going on I still have the warranty on it but like I'm patients that I have and some items. I had to open it In the meantime I'm writing emailing to the company what are the few the day or so I get respond A I explained what's going on then going through back and forth th customer service find out that is the gearbox so I did what they asked me I open the gearbox said I found which gear it was come loose so after back and forth and consistently stay in the problem that I have the company came through me sending a small video and I work at it explain to them what is going on they came through and send me the part no free of charge Now would like to put it back together I don't think I should have a problem with it but what is stress and this message it is a good product for the money but s*** happens but the company stood behind they they said to be a new part and I am going to repair it would like to be a I will give this five stars head overall performance because I have another one I also give five stars for the customer service

Most people have a bench top planer to get an already smooth board to the right thickness. I use this unit to finish milling trees. Step 1 is chain saw milling, step 2 is planing into useful wood. The first image is a planed base on a half log. The half log was planed down to 3 1/2 inches and now has a flat surface that will eventually have rubber feet mounted. The 2nd image is the top side of the half log that used to have chain saw marks. This half log will eventually get hollowed out and become a table centerpiece. There is also a 1/4 inch board planed from the first chain saw mill cut. This first cut would normally be waste but the planer saved it. This piece will see a laser and become a sign. I have also planed multiple 1 inch boards and still need to plane some smaller branches into square lumber for things like oversized dice. The planer came packaged very well and is easy to assemble. You simply assemble the stand and mount the planer. The planer comes with 2 dust port choices (neither work well when planing a tree) as well as the the tools needed to change the planer blades when the time comes. What it doesn’t come with is a place to store the 2nd port and tools. But look at the 3rd pic. It is a big empty space on the stand. If that bottom rail had predrilled holes I could simply cut a board and add a shelf for the tools and extra dust port. Instead, I have to drill my own holes in the bottom rail. So while the planer does a great job and is key to turn a dead maple tree into a variety of hobby woods, I can only give it 4 stars because it comes with extra parts but no place to put those parts. That’s annoying. Easily fixed, but annoying out of the box. Would have been 5 stars if that bottom stand rail had holes predrilled for me to add a board. Hey VEVOR, are you listening? Add holes to that rail.

Not a bad machine for the occasional woodworker or the hobbyist. For the price, the performance is quite good and the results meet all expectations. And now for the downsides: 1) The manual, while it provides essential information and seems complete, is written with poor English. 2) The 'Table Extension' in the back side does not lock in the upward position; You will need a bungee cord to secure it while in storage. 3) The vacuum attachment hood gets clogged after a period of use due to the shavings being rather large. This causes the surface of the work piece to get dimpled. I chose to remove it altogether; however, be aware that this action will actually expose the spinning blades, which could potentially be a safety hazard.

Save the money and just go for the Dewalt. You'll see a lot of reviews about needing to immediately change the blades, highly recommend doing that if you buy this. So that's another factor for cost. The factory ones are awful and the process to change them out is kind of a pain. Some Vevor stuff is worth it and some isn't, this falls under the not worth it category. The dust/chip collection spot isn't great, other planers have it where it goes off to the side this just shoots right out the rear so you need to rig up your hose so the stuff your planing doesn't hit it. The power cord also isn't ideal, it could be located out the side but it comes out the back just like the dust collector. Overall just go to Home Depot and get the DeWalt.

This is the first planner I've owned. Overall it is fairly straightforward to use. I've run several boards through this and have not experienced any downsides. The exit shoot is not plugging up on me unless my Shopvac gets full. In addition, I do not have any circuit breaker issues. I do run this on a dedicated circuit to avoid any power issues. I have experienced some planer snipe; however, I'm learning to avoid or minimize that from happening. Overall I'm pleased with this unit. The assembly was minimal. I understand you should consider an extended warranty for devices like this, so I bought one to be safe.
