  • Broken dust collector and thumb screws
Style: Planer
Dust collector was broken and thumb screws were missing. Everything else was fine. Love the planer. Works great. Just miss dust collector and thumb screws. Very easy to set up. Tim

  • Great value, well made.
Style: Planer
Built a screened in porch for my wife and needed to plane the trim I made on the sawmill. After borrowing a friend's much heavier planer and wrestling with it for hours I decided to buy one of my own. I have always found Craftsman hand tools to be quality products so after reviewing I decided to go with this one. I have to say so far I am very pleased. The unit is heavy enough to stay put when used but light enough not to break my back moving it. The four holes in the base also give you a easy point to bolt the unit down. I have put about 1200 board foot through this unit and it is still cutting as well as, if not better than, my friends three knife brand. The measurements appear accurate and the shavings collector all work well. If I had one issue it would be the placement of the power cord at the front left of unit. A side placement would seem more practical and out of the way. This is a quality planer that looks as if it will last the long haul. I will let you know in a future post about ease of blade replacement and cleaning. Well done Craftsman. ... show more

  • Nice planer but heavy to move around.

Works really well. Good value for the money.

  • Excellent for the price.
Style: Planer
Do not confuse this with a high end planer. It is an entry-level machine, but works surprisingly well for the cost. If you only have ocassional need and don't mind a bit of nsipe, it's a good choice.

  • This thing is AWESOME!
Style: Planer
The media could not be loaded. Hub's and I set up the new craftsman bench top 15amp planer. Very easy to set up, all we had to do was add the handle and plug it in. We took it for a test drive with a 2x4, 1x3 treated board and a cedar fence. This thing is AWESOME! The wood was nice and smooth.. took the rounded edges off with ease. Love that it can take large boards and it's easy to adjust. My only complaint is that there is a snipe at the end of the wood. It's like the board hopped or something pushed the blade down more when you first insert the wood...🤷♀️ Not sure how to fix that. Guess we need to research how to correct that, but other than that, it works perfectly! This is going to save me so much time and headaches! Time to read the instructions! Update: snipe is easy to fix. Make sure the board is being inserted straight. Don't make deep cuts all that once, do smaller passes multiple times to help prevent snipe ... show more

  • Best budget Planer period!
Style: Planer
right out of the box this saw ran perfectly after minor assembly, also there was no snipping and worked like a charm. would highly recommend this planer to anyone looking for one but don't want to spend a ton of money.

  • Gets it close but...
Style: Planer
I suppose the best thing about this is the price and the height adjustment is dependable. (It displays inches in 10ths so be aware of that.) At best it will get boards close enough to sand to finish. The bad: The snipe is real and not something that you can ignore. I have leveled the bed, have in feed and out feed support and it still rouges the first and last two inches of the board. Expect to loose at least 4 inches on each border that goes through. The dust port is horrible and clogs with and dust collector. Just take it all off and plane in the driveway. It also struggles on any depth close to 1/64. I found that going half that does well but send them through twice. If you're planing hardwood, the blades won't last long. I milled 6 10 ft boards of hard maple and the last passes have lines going down the boards. They were new from the factory when I started and only did a 64th to a 128th at a time. After owning it a year, buying a better planer with a helical head is high on my wishlist. It's serviceable, but if you're buying this to mill your own lumber as a common practice, I would highly suggest saving up for a better one. If you are on a budget and need one, there's an American discount tool store that just release a bigger one for the same price. It is blue and the brand goes by the name of a Roman half-god who puts the glad in gladiator. ... show more
