Style: 52CC
I got this primarily for planting approximately 2 acres of bare root chestnut tree saplings. I needed to dig over 100 holes on 30' spacings. I bought the 53cc unit with 6" and 10" augers bits. I just dug 50 holes with the 10" bit to a depth of 18" - 24" as I want lots of loose soil for my trees' roots. I was digging in a follow farm field in Michigan so the surface was high weeds/grass that I had mown with a bush hog and the soil is a mixture of clay and topsoil. The hardest part is getting through the grass and roots but once I hit dirt it really augers down rapidly. Each hole was taking about 1 - 1 1/2 minutes depending on the sod cutting and how many rocks I'd find. There's a little bit of a learning curve to get optimum performance but the motor itself has performed flawlessly - starts easily and runs smoothly. The 10" bit is about the max for this 53cc powerhead but definitely is doing the job. While drilling down if the auger bound up or encountered rocks I found that pulling the auger out to clear material and then slowly drilling back down worked well. Even racquetball or baseball sized rocks would cause quite a bit of "jumping" and torquing but once cleared to the surface the auger would dive right down. I didn't use any of the extensions as I only need to drill down about the depth of the bit itself. I have purchased Vevor products in the past and have been satisfied. This auger met and probably exceeded my expectations. It's cheaper than two days of rental. I'm thrilled with how quickly I've been able to dig all these holes! ... show more

  • Perfect!!
Style: 43CC
This was the best purchase I ever could have made when building our fence! I can’t count how many times we have said it is “worth its weight in gold.” It will start up on the first pull. It is easy to use with just one person. The power is great! I’ll tell everyone about this tool!!

  • I'd give 6 stars if I could
Style: 43CC
Opened the box, put both handles on, poured in the mixed gas, pushed the float bubble a couple of times, and it fired up on the first pull. I dug 21 holes the first day, and this tool was flawless. I have no idea why anyone would give less than 5 stars. I highly recommend

  • Good value
Style: 52CC
VEVOR Post Hole Digger,52cc rocks !! Used it for the 1st time today and it performed better than expected. Assembly was easy . It started immediately. And most importantly - it’s a beast at augering holes. My soil was well compacted - some loam mostly clay and it easily dug deep straight holes. The only that didn’t work well is clearing out the holes . I had to use a manual post hole digger to remove the loose soil. Everything was well packaged inside the box but the box itself was flabby and the tape had opened on one side. Some of the nuts/ bolts became dislodged from the unit and were loose in the box but nothing was lost. The operating instructions can be expanded and improved. But all in all- it is a workhorse and a good value for the money. ... show more

  • Dysfunctional tool
Style: 43CC
This belongs on the “Island of Misfit Tools.” If I could select zero stars, I’d prefer that. I bought this after shopping for an auger at my local hardware store, and finding them more expensive than I wanted to spend for fixing my fence. Unlike the typical augers I was seeing at my local hardware store which have the female end of the auger drill assembly as part of the machine, thus allowing you to attach different sized auger drill bits for the hole you need to dig, this machine comes with the male end on the machine and the female end is permanently affixed to the one bit that comes in the box. Which means it’s not just a “one-trick pony” of a tool, but you are not able to change bits at all or use this machine for anything but digging 8” holes, because there is no way to attach other sized bits. The drill bit this auger comes with is 8” diameter. Which would be ideal if my goal was to dig holes big enough for telephone poles—but I simply want to replace a few rotted fence posts. This tool was clearly not manufactured by a person who intends to use it. Waste of time and money. ... show more

  • Great product!

Great post hole digger for the DIYer! Digger was well packaged and easy to assemble. Easy to start and it is lighter than what I thought it would be

  • Great value
Style: 43CC
I love this thing. It's sturdy and super easy to use. It's not too heavy either and yet it digs like it should be. It has a lot more power and speed than I thought something this small would have. It's kind of hard to hold still when you're digging deep, but if you keep a good speed its not too bad.

  • Strong and Easy assembly. 6 inch auger.
Style: 52CC+8"
The media could not be loaded. Strong. Easy Assembly. Includes extra parts and a tool kit. I no longer install fencing but wanted this machine to dig fast holes for trees and shrubs. I can dig holes for an entire flower bead in minutes. Takes longer to decide where I want the plants. If it's fencing you want, then the six inch auger is great for getting the concrete all around the post. ... show more
