Great lightweight locking aluminum box to permanently mount on teardrop trailer tongue

This is a great storage box for the front of our Little Guy 5-Wide teardrop camper. I removed the camper's heavy shelf and replaced it with this box. I drilled through the box and into the steel trailer frame with some Hillman self-drilling screws from the local big box store. I used 6 screws and fender washers. It seems securely mounted and difficult for a thief to remove. The box is not very heavy, which is good for my light trailer. It latches securely and doesn't look like it should collect water when it rains. I'll probably add a strip of adhesive weather stripping to the inside of the lid though to make it even more water tight. I caulked around the bottom where the box meets the trailer frame with black DAP caulk. The lid springs open and stays open with it's hydraulic support. The side handles seem fine, but I won't need them since it's permanently mounted to my trailer. I plan to use the box for hauling bulky, lightweight, and dirty stuff on our camping trips - like wheel chocks, trailer tongue support wheel, small propane canisters, cable lock, extension cord, and some tire change tools.

More like, Light duty. There are warnings on the shipping carton about dropping or tossing it- THAT IS A SIGN of what is inside. Fortunately, I am just looking for a small locket in which to keep tools. It's a great value and the perfect size. Good stuff.

Not HEAVY DUTY! Pops open while driving! Super thin material. You have been warned!

Misleading product descriptions need to be addressed. This item should be NOT described as "heavy duty". The lid won't stay closed. I've adjusted the latch several times and it continues to pop open when driving. Locking it does not help. I honestly can't believe I see positive reviews for this box. This box is fairly large, so you might be tempted to store large and potentially heavy items. However it is also super light weight and thin material. You certainly won't be able to lift it by the handles if it is loaded with anything but fluff. The carry handles barely support the box when it's empty. I purchased this with the intent to mount it on my car hauler trailer. I needed a place for chains, straps, winch, etc. Looking at it in person, I realized that I needed to beef it up. I constructed a steel cradle for under the box and I put a thick plywood floor inside the box. Even so, I worry about placing heavy items inside the box because the box will be destroyed if the contents shift. After adding weatherstrip material (not included), I am hoping the box will keep my stuff dry. In retrospect I should have purcahsed a steel box.

Great Addition to RTV

What a great addition to our RTV. This thing holds a ton of stuff and bolted into our Kubota without any worries at all. It is super heavy duty and looks like it will be around for a long time. The lid locks without any problems, it keeps critters and the like out, along with the weather. A great value for a much-needed storage on your outdoor equipment.

Lock needs upgrade

The box is good. The locking mechanism is only a bolt on a flimsy alumimun L barce and it shifts and bends. I welded a piece of angle iron on it to stabalize it.

Advertised Sizing Incorrect

Only giving this box 2 stars because, The sizing as advertised is incorrect. The 20" (inch) box shows/states as it being 12 inches tall/in height. But it's actually approximately 10 inches in height from bottom of the box to top of the hinged lid. I will say that this box arrived in perfect condition. No dents. No scratches. And it's pretty solid from what I can see about it. The guage of the aluminum is thin, but not thin like aluminum foil the way other shoppers here make it seem. I really was hoping this box was sized as advertised, because my intended use was to install it on my RV travel trailer as a battery box. It would have fit perfectly within the frame rails on the A frame portion of the tounge. It would have been perfect for my application, had it not been only 10 inches tall/in height, which is off 2 full inches that it's advertised as being, I would have kept this box and done searching for a perfect box. This would have been it. Attached are 2 photos, One showing advertisement sizing, and one photo showing the measurment height while product is inside it's shiping box. Keep in mind, that while inside the shipping box, there's a good 1/2 inch of spacing room all the way around the inside of the shipping box. So, the height is approximately only 10 inches tall. So, for those who do not need a full 12 inch tall box, I'd say get this box if you need one this size. It's actually a really good little box. Hope this helps..............happy shopping Ya'll
