  • Great chair for the price
For starters, let me start off by giving my personal stats. I'm 6'4" and about 270lbs and I wouldn't consider my build to be disproportionate. In my search for finding a budget gaming chair, the lack of this information made it harder to get an adequate idea of what I would be getting into. I don't quite game as much as I used to, but wanted a good all-around chair that would be comfortable for long sessions in front of my desktop. I didn't want to spend more than $300, so the better name chairs were out of the question. After researching some off-brand racing chairs, I was skeptical about the quality and comfort of them. The prices seemed right with chairs ranging from $80-$200. After doing some searching, I read reviews that essentially compared DX Racer, Vertagear, and AK Racing. I knew the quality of DX Racer chairs because 3 of my friends use them, but they have smaller builds then I do and I found those chairs to not be adequate. Long story short, I landed on Vertagear and decided to go with the Vertagear S-Line SL2000 in black/carbon. The price point was perfect, coming in at around $270. When the chair arrived, it was packaged neatly and really secure inside the box. There was plenty of wrap and cardboard that made sure it survived being shipped. The installation instructions were easy enough to follow and included pictures. It took less than 20 minutes to assemble and I was able to do it by myself. The adjustment lever for the recline position was somewhat firm initially, but after assembly and use it has loosened up a bit. The chair came with lumbar and neck pillows. This chair is a bit heavy once fully assembled, so just be mindful of that if you decided to put it together and have to climb some stairs with it. The color is pretty true to the stock photos, and the black/carbon color is a great all around combination. It was pretty true to the stock photos and I say this because I'm too lazy to take a picture of it and post it. It has great height adjustment and the ability to recline to varying positions. I haven't fully reclined it, but that's only because I never plan to use it as a bed or stare at the ceiling. The seat base provides ample room for my bottom and I'd guess that those who are rotund in this area will likely find this chair to be fitting. The sides are a little snug, so if you're larger there you may find this chair to not be as comfortable. The top of the chair is only slightly shorter than where the top of my head is, but with the neck pillow in place, I don't really notice. The casters are smooth and have no problem moving around, however I am on hardwood floors with a rubber mat underneath. Other reviews have mentioned that these casters can be a bit of a carpet killer. The armrests adjust to various heights, I have mine set a step below full height and they fit underneath my desk perfectly. I don't typically use the armrests on my chairs so this isn't too big of a concern for me. The neck and lumbar pillows are comfortable, but don't expect tempurpedic quality. Another thing I have read in reviews of other gaming/racing chairs is a odor of the fake-leather. This chair didn't seem to have this stench so I wasn't forced to leave it outside overnight to let it air out. Overall, this is a great chair. I've only used it for a total of 4-5 hours over the course of 2 days, but I don't see myself being upset with it in the future. I'd definitely recommend it over other chairs in the price range. If you're on the fence about the price, if you're looking at chairs in the $80-200 range, save up a bit longer and go with this one. I'm giving it 4 stars only because nothing is worth 5. ... show more

  • Great chair, Vertagear could've done better.
The SL2000 is a great feeling chair, looks great in person, and was relatively easy to assemble. The materials feel solid and are easy to clean - I'm a sweaty guy and I found that this chair is easily wiped down, and also ventilates well. I'm 5'10" 200 lbs and I sit quite comfortably in this chair for hours and hours; sometimes the sides of the bucket-style seat feel like they're digging into my thighs, but I have large thighs and I only feel this way after a long time sitting. In addition, the adjustability is quite nice - you can lock/unlock the chair's rocking function, you can adjust the armrest height (more on this later), and the back reclines to a little under 180 degrees. The graphics on the product details say it only goes to 140, but when you recline all the way back and enable the rocker, it feels like a nice flat surface to lay in/take a nap in. In terms of build quality, this is where Vertagear could have done so much better. The biggest problem is the arm rest. They feel like any cheapo officemax chair's armrest - for $300 you would think they would feel a little more premium. On top of this, one of the armrest adjustment triggers came broken off right out of the box. I tried super gluing it back onto the mechanism but it breaks off again every few weeks. Very very annoying, should not happen with a product this expensive. They could have just used metal instead of this super cheap plastic. If this weren't the only TSM branded chair on the market, I honestly probably would have returned this faulty chair. But since it /is/ the only one, and it is still a comfortable chair, I'm willing to deal with it. If you're around my size and are looking to buy a gaming chair around this price range, consider spending $50-$100 more on Secretlab's omega or titan for some better quality. But if you're locked around $300, or you /really/ want a TSM branded chair (like me), this one's a decent option. 8/10 overall. tl;dr The materials feel great and ventilate well. I'm an average/larger sized man and I find this chair comfortable. If you're my size and like sitting cross legged, the seat may not be big enough for that. Vertagear cheaped out on the plastic bits, so don't be surprised if any parts come broken off. ... show more

  • Wasn't exactly what I thought it was
This is my 1st gaming chair that was actually designed to be used for long periods of time. However I find the pillows to be very uncomfortable. As have everyone else I have talked to about it. Without the pillows it's better but that defeats why I even bough the chair in the 1st place. I was going to buy a Herman Miller chair but I simply do not have that much money to spend on a chair. I bought this chair because it was a decent price and looked different than all the others and wasn't uppriced because of the TSM branding. So naturally I selected this chair. If I could offer any advice to anyone looking to buy a chair. Don't sell yourself short and buy a product because it's cheaper. I only mean this when people go for a better price but have less features. Buy that little bit more and get the features, it's worth it. Price and Quality with chairs are pretty give or take. Go with a good brand with good reviews. I don't really reccomend this chair but I also don't reccomend settling for less than this. This chair is decent start but if you're investing for time and not experimenting I'd say go that hundred dollars more. I know they get expensive but I promise the quality of the chair is better that way. I highly suggest Herman Miller. If money isn't an issue that you can get the best Herman Miller chair they have. ... show more

  • Actual seat is hard as a rock!
Color: Black/Purple
The chair was very easy to put together. I didn't realize the seatback was adjustable, The seat itself is very hard. It has no cushion to it at all. The 2 additional pillows for the back of the neck and lumbar support are excellent.
