The story had me hooked from the beginning, and the twists kept me questioning what was real and who I could actually trust. It was suspenseful, unsettling, and definitely one of those books that stays on your mind after you finish. That ending… I still don’t know what to think!

Verity Left Me Speechless, Disturbed, and Obsessed 😍 !

I loved this book. The premise is just so good, dark, twisted, messy in the best way. A struggling writer, a famous author who can't finish her series, that creepy manuscript in the office... I could not put it down. It's giving thriller, it's giving romance, it's giving you should not be reading this alone at night. That unexpected twist at the end?? JAW ON THE FLOOR. I had to reread the last few chapters just to make sure I read that right. Colleen really said let me ruin your peace real quick. The only thing I did not love was Lowen's character and how she was taking advantage of an immobile woman in that house. That part made me so uncomfortable and it was hard to root for her after that. It just felt wrong. Still a solid 4 out of 5 stars for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Would have been a perfect 5 but that epilogue was so long drawn out, it really dragged after such an intense ending. If you love dark romance thrillers with an unhinged plot twist, you need to read this. Just be prepared to question every single character. 😣 ... show more

Verity was intense from beginning to end. I kept waiting for the big twist, and wow… Colleen Hoover delivered one surprise after another. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another revelation had me second-guessing everything I had read. Spoilers ahead. I finished the book with more questions than answers, and I actually love that. Was the manuscript intentionally planted for Lowen to find? Were the details about Verity not breastfeeding the twins subtle clues that the manuscript was telling the truth? And did Jeremy’s increasingly intense behavior after committing those unspeakable acts suggest the manuscript was more factual than the letter claimed? What happened to Alice? Did she really know what was going on in that house? I’m also left wondering about Crew. Where was his punishment for leaving Nova outside? Is he far more disturbed than we realize? After witnessing Jeremy kill Verity and helping cover it up, is Crew now a product of that violence? Could those events shape him into something much darker as he grows older? Will there be a spinoff as him as an adult detailing the private conversations with him and Verity. Whether the manuscript was true or not, that’s what makes this book so unforgettable. It leaves you questioning every character, every motive, and even the ending long after you’ve turned the last page. Overall, I loved this novel. LOVE
This book completely exceeded my expectations! It grabbed my attention from the very first chapter, and I couldn't stop reading. Every time I thought I knew where the story was going, there was another twist that kept me hooked. The characters are complex and unforgettable, and the suspense mixed with the emotional moments made it impossible to put down. It's one of those books that keeps you thinking long after you've finished the last page. If you enjoy psychological suspense with plenty of twists and a story that keeps you guessing, this is an absolute must-read. Weak Plot Twist. Lazy Writing

7/10 ⭐️ This one frustrated me because it started out SO strong. The story was dark, meaty and interesting, and for most of the book I really thought I'd found a new author I was going to love. Then came the ending… The last few chapters just felt weak and lazy to me. There were so many opportunities throughout the book to leave subtle clues and build toward a really great plot twist. A good twist should make you look back and think, OMG, it was right there the whole time and I missed it. Instead, we get this long letter from Verity basically explaining an entirely different version of everything we'd just read. It felt like a shortcut and, honestly, almost an insult to the reader's intelligence. Like we needed the ending spoon-fed to us instead of being given the pieces throughout the story and allowed to put them together ourselves. Additionally, the sex scenes…WAY too many. After a while they became repetitive and felt more like filler than anything meaningful to the story. It almost felt like the writer didn't trust the writing itself to keep us engaged, so she just kept throwing in sex scenes instead. I would've much rather had some of those pages used to develop the characters or plant the clues that could've made the ending actually hit. I also found Lowen pretty weak and unlikeable, and by the last few chapters I was forcing myself to finish. Still a 7/10 because I genuinely enjoyed most of the book. It could've easily been a 9/10 with a stronger, more thoughtfully developed ending. I wanted to realize I'd been fooled. Instead, I got a letter telling me maybe I was. 🤷🏽♀️ ... show more
