Replaced tall boxed spring with this sturdy bed frame. Just dropped it inside my existing pencil post bed making it lower to the floor which helps getting in and out of the bed and doesn't over extend my dogs back jumping on and out of tgebed.

It’s definitely what you pay for. The quality of the actual pieces are good but when I assembled it the middle would not lay straight and actually makes the bed frame almost point up at the middle. I recommend using a box spring or some kind of flat surface for your bed to lay on so it’s not just on the slats. Ordered 1st one for my son,very easy to put together. Ordered a 2nd one for my daughter since her wooden one broke. Then I ordered a queen size for the master bedroom. LOVE the extra storage space underneath. Only complaint is none of them line up properly to attach our headboards so we just have em push up against the headboards,still looks nice ... show more

    • Made my mattress feel uncomfortable

Although tedious, it was fairly easy to assemble. However, the instructions were vague at one point and it took some thinking to figure it out; the assembly video clarified things. If you buy this frame and think that there may even be the remote possibility of returning it, definitely take photos (or a video) of unboxing it. If I had not done so, I would have been overwhelmed repacking it for return. As for the performance of the platform - it was definitely sturdy but it made sleeping on both my high quality plush and ultra-plush mattresses feel uncomfortable and caused my back to ache. The bars allowed the mattress underside to sag through in between them and create compression in some mattress coils while expanding others. In other words, parts of my mattress became too firm while others provided less support, and I could feel the bars. The contrast was painful. I believe that over time my mattress could have been damaged also. Both mattresses I tested performed better on a solid surface (either the floor or a box spring) than on this type of platform. And while I could have added a surface such as plywood on top of this frame, the extra expense and effort defeated the purpose of my reason for purchasing this design. Just be aware that the slatted bars design may create problems like they did for me. ... show more

The mattress frame is sturdy. It is nearly $100 cheaper than the one in the local poor quality furniture store. The supplied tools will work, but I think you'll be happier if you use your own tools.
