  • It does the job, but folding/unfolding can be challenging
This step ladder showed up undamaged and built sturdy enough to support any human. Not sure about the 500lb claim, but it will support anyone who can step on it. Its stable when opened and just heavy enough to feel substantial. However, there is a pretty significant flaw with the mechanism used to fold/unfold it. If you try to open it by grabbing the handle and pressing it down, like everyone would open a step ladder, you run a pretty decent chance of the bottom step wedging itself down (picture 3) and getting stuck. Then you have to pry the linkages back into place while closing the step ladder. Its not as hard as it sounds once you do it once, but it really shouldn't happen at all. If you open it by the legs as you push down on the step you won't run into this problem, but thats not really a natural way to open it. With this defect, I suppose I'd rebuy this at a discount but they really should fix this mechanism for a 5-star product at full price. ... show more

  • I like this stepladder but the description is not consistent with the product labeling
I have mixed feelings about this stepladder. I like it, it looks and feels sturdy, it folds up into a slim profile that is easy to carry, and it has wide rubber feet. I also like the grippy, soft rubber cover on the top handle/balance bar and wide steps with textured covering. However, the product is clearly labeled in several places with load limits that are different from what is stated in the listing. A warning label affixed to the side of the ladder includes "Max. 150 kg" which is 330 lbs. Attached to the ladder on delivery was a paper that said the maximum duty rating is 115 kg (about 250 lbs). These are heavy-duty ratings to be sure, but they are significantly less than the 500 lb capacity that is repeatedly featured in the product listing. Like I said, I do think this is a good stepladder and I expect to get a lot of good use out of it, but I felt this was important information to share in case anyone might specifically choose this ladder based on the promised capacity. ... show more

  • Heavy duty step stool with a couple gotchas
First, the good: this is a heavy-duty step stool that has deep and wide steps, large feet and a nice padded handle. It feels very secure to stand on and the locking mechanism -- once you get the hang of it -- is probably more secure and easier to disengage than most other step stools I have used. That said, the locking mechanism is both a blessing and a curse because it can sometimes get in the way of opening the step stool properly. When this happens, the top step comes down as-expected but the bottom step remains upright. A problem easily solved by putting pressure on the bottom step each time you open it, but that can be a bit clumsy when compared to better-designed step stools. The other thing that is really not a big deal but is unreasonably annoying to me is that the adhesive used to attach the "instructions" to the top step is way, way, WAY too aggressive and it rips the backing off the instructions. This looks unsightly and, as far as I can tell, it can't be removed. Bummer. All in all, it's a fine product that does its main job very securely...once you get it open! ... show more

  • Nice, slim, functional, lightweight
This is a great little step ladder. It's lightweight and can easily fit into any small space for storage. I like that it has rubber feet, which add to the secure feeling when it's opened that it won't slip when you stand on it. The ONLY think I don't like is that the bottom step (there are 2) is deceptively shallow so that when you stand on the bottom step, you bash your shin into the top step. I did it 4 days ago and my shin still hurts. Other than that it's good. I used it to hang curtains in my living room and it was a snap. I have to be honest though and say that if I had to do it again, I'd find a stepstool with a deeper step to ensure that I won't hurt myself like I did on this one. I hate to say it but somebody should have measured twice before they went into mass production. I'm a regular sized American but maybe, just maybe, these things are made with oompa loompah's in mind, I dunno??? ... show more

  • Feels sturdy and secure
I'm vertically challenged and need a helping hand in reaching upper cabinets, windows, etc. The plastic folding step stool I have is never where I need it to be, and I'm always dragging a chair over or looking to see what I can stand on to get a boost. This step stool comes to the rescue in a big way. The steps are wide and accommodating, and the padded bar gives you something to hold onto when going up or down. I too had trouble with the bottom step not opening properly the first time I used it. Not a problem once you get the hang of it. I disliked the safety sheet that was stuck to the top step with some type of NASA engineered adhesive. There's a section of the label that is never coming off and I gave up trying. ... show more

  • A little tricky but very sturdy
Opening and closing this stool can be a little tricky, but is fine once you get the hang of it. The key is to apply pressure to the bottom step while pushing down the top step to fold open and that eliminates most of the frustration. Otherwise this stool is great. It feels sturdy, it doesn't wobble and the steps don't bend to added weight. It folds up easily to fit into small spaces for storage. The top step also lands a little higher than most other step stools I have used, which is useful for someone short (5' nothin') like myself. Overall I would purchase again if I needed to. ... show more
