I purchased two different styles of thumb support braces to see which one would work best for me. I like this style because it is simple to put on, but the support/stability it gives my arthritic thumb is the best. It also allows me to wear when golfing because my palm is not restricted. I have tested the support by picking up heavy objects as I normally would, but I experienced little to no pain from the arthritic thumb area. I am very happy with this purchase.

I have an arthritic thumb that's become more painful since fracturing my wrist 2 months ago. I went from the doctor's hard, molded spica splint to an OTC simpler one, then a shorter one that covered most of my hand, and now this that covers only my thumb and wrist, which is exactly what I wanted. It supports both areas I'm afraid of reinjuring, and I'm virtually pain free. It's possible the cheaper ones are just as good, but a lot of reviews of them mention fabric deterioration. I think this one is made better. The velcro on this holds without being so strong that it rips or frays the fabric. I think it will outlast the cheaper ones.

The reason I gave this three stars is because you cannot remove the metal brace inside or lease I couldn’t- I wanted to remove it so I could wash the guard. I am using this to stabilize, may trigger finger, which hurts quite a bit, I use this on my left hand, one thing I do not like is, the Velcro goes from left to right, and my thumb is slightly turned because of my trigger finger. I wish I could tighten the wrist guard.- handguard, whatever the other way to help straighten my finger out a little bit. It definitely helps stabilize my thumb. Was kind of funny while traveling. When people saw me wearing it they were more helpful with carrying my bags! I’ll have to remember that next time I travel so I don’t have to carry my bags so much lol

Badly sprained thumb. The wrap applied by the PA was OK for short term but I needed a brace that wasn't $200 from a therapist. Read the reviews on many braces and chose this one. It is easy to put on and take off. It only has two straps, one around the wrist and one small strap around the thumb bone. I also recently washed it after a week of wearing it, soaked it in a sink of soapy water , rinsed and hung on a floor fan. Cleaned up nicely no issues. It is NOT as rigid as a cast would be, and I opted for bracing because of my work. I can still do my job with this brace, but a cast would have made it impossible to work. Have to wear it for 3 weeks at least. I am able to sleep with it on my hand as well, it comfortable enough, and as a bonus I can easily remove it for bathroom duties and showering or washing hands.

This brace is fairly comfortable considering what it does. Limits thumb mobility without restricting it too much. I've bought and returned many braces and this one is superior. Other thumb braces dig into my wrist, become hard to detach the velcro straps, or don't provide the right amount of support. My only gripe here is that even though I measured my wrist at the far side of a medium, I still have to pull the straps pretty tight. For context: I have hypermobility and my MCP joint is injured/stretched out farther than it should be, so I get pain around my MCP, CMC, and flare up De Quervain on the regular. I have not tried heavy lifting with it yet, but day to day tasks have improved with this brace. Best I have found without a referral for a custom fitted brace.
