Wow! The Velowave Grace step-through bike is very nice. First, the package is well done and protects the whole bike while shipping. We all know that shippers are not easy with any packages. I unbox the bike in the back shop to set up the bike, and it does come about 85% ready to go. Just put on the front wheel, peddles, light, and handlebars. That's it. The battery came with a 75% charge, and there's only one way the battery goes into place. The tools that come with the bike are good; I didn't want to use any of my tools to do the job. Want to know if their tools can do the job? Yes, they did, with no problems. Another plus : ) I bought the turquoise and green; I want something different, you know everyone has black and silver. The pink wasn't going to do for me. I like the color combination; the photo didn't do the color combination justice, so I was a little nervous. The color to me is hunter green with the color of mint chip ice cream. Everyone that saw and talked to me on my bike ride liked the color. The color is excellent for a man or a woman. Now let us get to the bike itself, all the stuff that makes me get excited. The build is heavy-duty, it's no small bike, and the weight of it is perfect for a person like me who Desert race with a KTM 300 when I got on and sat down after making the adjustment and pretty much set it up like mine KTM's. It felt natural; you can feel the bike when you sit down or stand up. You know, it has a present, and the bike will not be ignored. It's one of the things I like about this bike; it's not like my other Specialized mountain bike. I realized there's a difference. Velowave Grace fits nicely in the middle of Specialized and the KTM's So, let us get to the other stuff, like the first ride, which was 38 miles, and the battery life. The seat was okay for someone who rides a lot. For people who don't ride a lot might be a little hard. Easy fix just orders one that fits your needs. Me, I just keep mine on. The bike rode smoothly for a hard trail, and the fat tires are super nice and adjust to your needs and comfort. I kept mine at 25 in the rear and 20 in the front since it was a bike path. Will deflate tire for gravel and dirt roads. The battery life during the ride. Well, let us say it was great and way better than I could have hoped for. I did the Lake Meade loop in Henderson, NV, and if anybody has done that loop, then they would tell you; it is no joke with all the long hill climbs throughout the loop. Figure if it were going to break or wouldn't handle that loop, it wouldn't be for me. I wanted to know, so I went for it! Had it on pedal assist 1 for most of the ride and bumped it to 2,3, and 4, in spots never hitting 5. It handled that loop like a champ Life of the battery was 71% after the ride from 100% at the start. Of course, it has to do with selecting the right gear throughout the ride. When selecting the gears, just do a quick pass for people who don't ride a lot. There is a way to select gearing when riding, but for this bike is simple just do the quick pass for this bike, and you will be fine. After a couple of rides, you'll be a pro. The handlebars are good looking it's part of what sold me on the bike. It reminds back of the day when A bars came out in the 70s' and bicycles motocross look first started. Okay, dated myself! I am in my 60s, and it is a perfect fit for older people who are still active. They do have a lighter version(s) Would I change anything? No! The price is fair for this bike. First thing the packing was a box with the entire contents surrounded by form fitted foam about the density of a foam knee pad . Most ebike manufacturers don't do this and usually parts of the bike have blown through the box walls . Not this one. The assembly was easy took about 1-2 hours and the build quailty is excellent . We chose this bike for the clean lines and in person you'll realize how robust this frame is . Things like nice consistant tig welds , wiring / tubing run properly using molded rubber grommets when entering and exiting the tubes , high handle bars verses the seat height for no slouching over and simple directions although you dont need them since it's 95% put together for you . The battery is huge took about 4-5 hours to completely charge . Our first time out we ran the bike for 13.6 miles and the battery stills show 89% , our other Ebike was at 40% . My girlfriend wants it a little more girly so we'll be changing the tall 29 inch tires to a brown wall lower profile somewhere around 27.5 inches tall and yes the Velowave speed calculator will allow you to do a quick settings change to whatever tire OD you choose so speedo stays accurate . We did add her favoraite brown seat (in picture) and will be adding a wicker basket . We both freaked over how smooth and stable this bike is at 20 mph , way more stable than our previous shorter wheelbase ebikes they were 42 inch wheelbase and not much caster so at 20-25 mph you dont wanna twitch . The Velowave Grace has a whopping 48.7 wheelbase with lots of caster both give amazing stability at high speed . Thank you to the designers and fabricators of this bike A ++++++ . Updated June 23 - We disassembled the Grace completely , right down to every spoke and custom painted it teal and brown with axalta Imron . During this time it was obvious it's built way better than our other ebikes were which one was twice the price . One thing we noticed is the grace has double wall rims compared to a single wall . It also has 36 spokes front and rear while other manufacturers do 36 rear 32 front to save money . They look goofy in my opinion . We will be buying another velowave 20" for our guests . ... show more
