It took a little while to put together but nothing that planning ahead and putting an episode of Game Grumps can't help with! A few times with the legs I got confused and had to keep rotating them until I figured out the directions they wanted to go in but otherwise it was mostly straightforward to assemble, either from the diagrams or just from my own spatial awareness. I think it's a great shelf! I recalled another review saying the shelves all seemed to be covered in fiber glass -- and I agree. All the shelves were covered in that or something similar, which made me feel nervous to handle them. I wiped them off as I went but I kept thinking I was covered in that stuff. Bought this to replace one after a redo of the bathroom. There is a small space between the wall and counter top and this is a perfect fit. So attractive with the black metal frame and wood shelves. The instructions were a little confusing but we were able to put it together and it is sturdy. We don’t have children in the house and no young grandchildren so we didn’t need the piece to secure it to the wall. I have enjoyed putting decor pieces on the shelves and although I purchased it for aesthetics, it definitely would make a great storage option. We use this mostly as storage shelves and it works great because it fits so much while taking up minimal space. I bought a second because I love it so much. Just be aware that it doesn’t come with all the tools required to assemble it. There are 2 small allen wrenches/hex keys included along with all the screws, but you need a power drill to actually set the screws in the shelves due to the size of the pilot holes in the wood being smaller than the screw’s shank diameter. A screwdriver wouldn’t do the job for me. I thought it would just come with all the things needed for assembling and I’m not handy with tools but luckily my dad was around to help. It's perfect for what I needed it for and for the price it's a very good product. My only complaint is that they did NOT dummy proof it! I included pictures to draw your attention to where the bolts are on the connecting frame pieces. I assembled the first one just fine, no problems. I got half way done with the second one and discovered that something was wrong. The holes for the shelves were not lining up and it looked messed up and off. I was about ready to send it back when I noticed that on the first one that I had assembled the bolts that connect the frame pieces together had one facing into the middle (toward the shelves) and one facing toward the outside. And this second one that I was trying to assemble had both sets of bolts facing inward (toward the shelves). So I spun one side of the frame pieces around and: BINGO! It worked perfectly. Like I said, they didn't dummy proof it! Assembly was time consuming but not difficult. I'm very happy I bought this. ... show more

I just love how this shelf transformed an area in my living room. I needed something at the end of the wall area to balance out the pictures. It was east to put together. Thank you God all the predrilled holes lined up. It just took time bkz there were many screws to the shelf. Just remember to not take the labels off of the pieces until you are done in case you make a mistake. I did not anchor it to the wall. It feels secure enough.
