If you just need something small to charge a smaller lead acid battery, this will work well for you. The controller is barebones, and it worked for me out of the box testing it with a larger car battery for a week. I have concerns with the voltage output of the controller though, as I sometimes notice high voltage on the battery, though sometimes a little higher voltage is good for lead acid. I tested the output of the panel and it indeed put out over 20W at full sunlight, something that is rare in these cheaper panels. I didn't test the mounting since I didn't need it, but those looked like they'd work fine.

Product defective. Wiring from controller connector to battery clips incorrectly reversed with red(positive) and black (negative) connections. Thus the red (positive) battery clip is connected to the black (negative) wire. You have to cut the wires and reverse the connections. this is very poor quality control which could harm your car battery.

The media could not be loaded. This is a great little portable solar setup. I got it to charge my camping battery, communications battery, etc. I see some reviews that say the controller doesn't charge. What I've found is that if your battery is at 13v or above, it will not enter charge mode until the battery drops below 13.0v. And it will also shut off at 14.2 volts. Mine works exactly as expected. The panel is pretty lightweight, and the framework is made from aluminum. It generates over 22 volts in direct sunlight and powers the controller. I am charging AGM type batteries, and I'm plugging the panel directly into the auxiliary port on my little camper to give an extra 20 watts to my camper controller. Overall, this is a great setup and it works extremely well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get started with solar power generation.

Nice panel that gives the power it says it does in good sun (I just measured over 1 amp with detail saying "1.15A at max power"). Only problem is the controller isn't letting any power thru. I was careful to connect the controller first to the battery (that many say to do) and the solar panel second. The LEDs blinked twice when I plug in the solar, but nothing goes to the battery. If I remove the controller and go direct to the battery, it went from 12.9V to 13.2, to 13.4 etc as fast as you can say it (and I pulled the plug at 14.5V on my 22AH pack). I went back to the controller and it did nothing with the battery at 12.9V. I tried another brand controller and it raised to 14.1V, dropped back to 13.2, then back up etc as I expected. So not sure of why this controller just blinks the LEDs, but no power comes thru to the battery. Update: I left the controller with a panel & battery connected over several cloudy days and noted some power was coming thru after a minute with just the "charging" LED lit up. Yet today I got full sun on it and checked the battery which was at over 15.3V. So It's gone from not letting any power thru to allowing "overcharging" when it says on it "Cut out 14.2V" (and there's no way I've put over 12A thru it or such that should damage it). I like to give things multiple chances, but so far double fails.

What I like: - Almost everything you need to start a small scale solar project - Solar panel supplied with mounting frame What I don't like: - Supplied charger/controller was dead on arrival, as experienced by other reviewers - Panel finish isn't very good, blocked holes, etc. I was excited to get my hands on this small solar panel kit from Vancoco as it seemed ideal for powering a small, low voltage security camera that normally requires a wall socket and an adapter. The kit seemed to include everything I needed except for a battery and a few spare lengths of wire which I knew I had already. On arrival I was impressed with the kit as a bundle. The supplied cables had fitted connectors on them that made setting up the system literally plug and play. The panel itself is a bit rough around the edges, and the holes that the mount attach to were both partially blocked with rough metal shavings that I cleaned out with a file so the bolts could fit cleanly. The clamps easily gripped the 12v 5.3Ah battery I had on hand, and everything looked ready to go. I'd already started wondering what to box the battery and the solar charger/controller in. Unfortunately then I noticed that the battery wasn't charging. Working my way back along the wires everything was connected snugly but the charger/controller was not showing any LED illumination. The panel was providing input but the controller was dead and the battery wasn't getting anything through it. I checked some reviews here and saw I wasn't the only customer with a non-functioning charger/controller. So the kit would be a nice starting point, if it worked. Unfortunately the dead charger/controller means the the kit completely fails to function as described, so I must give it a disappointing 1 out of 5 stars.

Quick setup with one-way plugs for the controller and battery. Good size panel with clear panes. It charges right away without issues. Will update the review with any noticeable failure points over time.
