i have been using these quick connects for years and have never had an issue. every time i buy a new helmet i buy one of these to install on it, installation takes all of 5 minutes and the only tip i can offer is on the take up side i always get small elastic black cloth hair ties and put that on the strap first and then install the quick connect thes way the excess strap can be held in place by the hair tie ... show more

I was leery of this product when I assembled it. The plastic fork mechanism that relies on spring action of the prongs to lock the receiver portion onto the box section that is attached to the the helmet D-ring. The plastic hardware seemed very lightweight to me. Once assembled, I tugged on it several times and it stayed in place. Given my original apprehensions, I was not sure I should use the product but it had not failed during my tugging stress test. So I chanced it. Wrong decision. On the second full day of use we stopped for gas. I unsnapped the lock and removed my helmet holding the the two ends of the chin strap to spread the cheek pads apart. To my amazement I was left holding the receiver end of the product in my hand. I have removed helmets in this manner for over 50 years of riding. This is the first time the hardware has come off in my hand. I removed the product and used the original D-ring and strap to get home. A straight tug does not impart a twisting motion which is key to this failure mode. This product will likely come apart during an accident. Your brain bucket may come off your head upon first impact. Seems like it is durable enough for everyday use. Easy to install but instructions were of no great use. Went online and found video to install on helmet.

    • If you install it correctly and add a lil plastic fuse it will give you no issues
I have one installed on my shoie x14 helmet so I can take my helmet on and off without having to take my dianese gauntlet style Full metal 6 race gloves on and off every time.. trust they are a pain..I added a small drop of plastic fuse glue to the ends of the little tabs because prior to doing this I would occasionally pull the clasp apart when taking my helmet off and that was no good. Now, the plastic is chemically altered and physically fused together so will require me to destroy the quick release if I ever want to take it off. Doubt I will. It is extremely strong the way I have it installed and I obviously am trusting my life to it. ... show more
