First off, I gave this product 5 out of 5 stars because it's better than the version that's half the price in ambient lighting. That being said, if you just want to look for urine stains, particularly at night, the cheaper version works. Both lights looked like they got items to fluoresce equally and not 4x more as the infographic claims. If anything, I'd say it's the brightness of the light allows for more contrast, which in turn allows one to detect stains 4x better in ambient lighting. This flashlight is worth the price if you searching for items that fluoresce (scorpions, pet stains) from farther away and in particular, in ambient lighting. When I compared both, I was pleased that many of uvBeast seller's claims in the infographics and the description are spot on. Though, I'm not so pleased that the price keeps flucturating. I bought mine for $43 a couple weeks ago and recently it was $40 one day, and the next it was $41. Check out my "$40 vs $20 UV Flashlight" video on my XoletteLife channel. Most tomato growers are familiar with the huge, fat, lime green, disgusting Tomato Hornworm that can dessimate an entire tomato plant in a single day. This year we have had an invasion of these masters of camouflage. Since we grow our plants organically, we were all but about to give up until deciding to give this UV Beast a try. And a beast it is! The attached photos don't really do it justice. Wait until dark, take the Beast out, shine it on the plant and these fat munching machines glow like a black light poster. Even the tiny, newly hatched ones glow. My only criticism is for the wrist strap that broke after only a couple of uses. The strap was handy for when my husband had to let go of the light to pick the worms off of the plant. But small issue and the light is amazing. I read where people used this Beast to find scorpions, pet urine, etc., but didn't read about its use for easily spotting these worms. Seriously this thing needs to be marketed in the Mothet Earth News, Countryside, etc. The UV Beast saved our tomato crop!

I have been living in Arizona for the last 13 plus years and have gone through a ton of black lights.....scorpion hunting. The UV Beast is BY FAR the best I have ever used/seen. Scorpions light up like little christmas trees. I found a dead scorpion in our garage, used the beast in broad day light w/ the garage light on as well and the scorpion still lit up as if it were pitch black. Just wanted to test it in daylight even though that isn't a realistic application in my opinion. In one of the pics I posted you can see the scorpion light up under our front entry way light. The distance on this flashlight is another amazing aspect. I have spotted scorpions 30-40 feet away which was never possible with the little $10-$15.00 lights I used to buy. I highly recommend this flashlight for anyone that patrols their house and yard for scorpions! We have a 16 month old little girl so this coupled with our pest control service helps give us a little piece of mind. Fun side note......we have caught 61 scorpions in our yard over the last 3 & 1/2 weeks, pre pest control service.

This is one of the better UV lights out there. I used to think it was the best, but then I got an iLumen8, which is several times brighter. Same wavelength, just not as bright as the newer iLumen8. However, this one will light up a room, and all UV sensitive items/inks will definitely glow if they are in its wavelength range. It works for seeing where the cat peed, when you slept in and didn't let him out. But it has one drawback. It is not tuned for UV inks in government documents. My drivers license has a picture of me on the BACK as well as the front, which I never knew about until I tried the Inova light (reviewed elsewhere). You can see them with the UV-Beast, but they don't leap out at you the way they do with the Inova. It's just a different wavelength. This gets it, just not as brightly. You could easily miss some things with this one. But it's still a very bright UV light, and it covers most UV applications, even if some are "on the edge." Produces a lot of glare, but UV pigments fluoresce brightly enough to make the glare a non-factor. Yes, I recommend this, even if it's not the #1 light. I have them both, and frankly I use the more powerful one for nearly everything. They are identical in every way except the LEDs. There are apparently brighter LEDs available now for this application.

Bought both the uvBeast and the KOBRA UV Black Light Flashlight 100 LED #1 Best UV Light and Blacklight For Home & Hotel Inspection, Pet Urine & Stains - Ultra Intensity 18W 385-395nm LEDs Spot Counterfeit Money, Leaks, Scorpions! . Same flashlight. I am sure that uvBeast will say that theirs is better but I highly doubt it. In fact, if these units didn't roll off the same assembly line, I'd be VERY surprised. On the outside... Same dimensions Same body markings Same weight Body comes apart in same places Same LED throw at given distances. Same LED hue. In taking them apart... Same battery caddies Same LED array Same PCB with the LEDs Same wires that connect the PCB Same cheap plastic light bezel At time of writing the uvBeast was $35 and the Kobra was $25. I say, save yourself money and buy the cheaper of the two, whichever that is.
