Took just a few minutes. The shade looks amazing and matches our other expensive shade perfectly. This lamp deserves 20 stars for value! At about $35, it seems as good as, or better than, lamps we were looking at locally that were priced at $200 to $250. The finish (we chose black) is excellent, the lamp is sturdy, and it is good looking. It assembled very easily and precisely without tools (except for the supplied allen wrench for the one bolt to be installed by the owner). The shade is owner-assembled; I was amazed at how simple that was and how good the assembled shade looks. The lamp came in a surprisingly small box, but the packing was exceptionally good and the lamp was in perfect condition. The dimmer is a nice feature; I suspect, however, that the dimmer (which is also the on/off switch) may be the weak link and that when it fails replacement of the switch will be very difficult or impossible. Even so, if the lamp lasts a year or two, it will have been good value, and if lasts longer, it will be a great value! Recommended. ... show more

I bought this lamp for our front living room/reading room. It looks beautiful in the corner. I LOVE the dimmable feature - as most lamps you can get at the store do not have the option. Why buy something that you have to spend more for or doesn't dim? I looked at lamps locally first, but they were outrageous prices compared to this one, with lower quality and no dimmable feature. I was nervous purchasing this lamp because some people said the directions were difficult putting it together…I’m not sure what was so hard about it. They are picture instructions and it’s truly self explanatory. It’s casual for those of you who want a comfy home feel yet classy enough that you get compliments on it. Came with the Edison bulb. The assembly instructions were a little challenging. Obviously written by someone who does not speak English as their first language. But I managed. I have never before seen a SHADE that required assembly! Again I managed but overall shade is quite flimsy and I don't think it will survive any contact at all. The finish of the lamp is nice and it came with a nice Edison LED bulb. Also the ability to tilt/rotate the shade in all directions was one reason I chose this lamp.
