  • Almost perfect, clips to small for my Ender 3 s1
Works better than the factory magnetic plate. I was having trouble removing models and the circle around the model. But my models easily come off the glass plate. The only problem I have is the clips to hold down the glass are to small. So i had to get clamp paper clips to hold in in place.

  • Overall, it's better than the magnetic build plate, but adhesion is its biggest issue
There was a minor chip on mine, but its not large enough to cause an issue and its on the bottom of the plate. PROS * Amazingly smooth bottom surface for prints * No warping or other initial layer problems * Removal is often easier than with the magnetic plate (though sometimes prints get a little stuck) * Perfectly level build surface!! (much easier to level than the magnetic build plate) CONS * Adhesion isn't great * Using medium binder clips means you lose a little build area (not a whole lot) * Takes longer to heat up OTHER * Noticed yellowing of cloth after cleaning with rubbing alcohol, not sure what this is though it seems to be from the adhesion layer * Take care when handling, dropping this thing on the floor is a bad idea REVIEW NOTE: This might read a little more like a negative review for the magnetic build plate than a positive review for this plate, but that's just because that plate is a headache and a half and I needed to vent about it. This build plate makes it apparent really quick that the magnetic build plate is not ideal for 3D Printing in the long term nor for larger prints, for several reasons. (A quick review of the magnetic plate for comparison) The magnetic plate has a great strength: you just pull the bed up and prints peel right off! But it comes with a dire trade off: the build plate is very prone to indentations when removing prints. This makes it absolutely horrible to print on afterwards; when you have hills and valleys in your build plate, your initial layer will be nonexistent where the hills are. It's horrible, but it's easier to start out I guess? Anyway, the tempered glass plate has a few setbacks as well, but I'm convinced that it IS an upgrade and going to outlast the default magnetic plate bed (for several, several reasons). To really use this plate without those famous adhesion tricks (hairspray, glue) I set the initial layer speed low, I mean really low. 10 mm/s (yes, that's really low, but it works) and I set the initial layer temp to 80 C (I read this somewhere but can't remember where). This helps ensure the bed is evenly heated and the surface is properly 60 C or slightly higher. You could probably go a little lower than 80, but this is what I did. Now adhesion isn't as big of an issue, and I'm much happier when printing because I don't have to deal with the monstrosity that is the magnetic build plate. I give the magnetic plate 3/5 stars if its brand new, 2/5 if its been used, and 1/5 if its been used AND is demagnetized :)))) If your print is a little stuck even after its cooled, I found wiggling the snips that come with the printer (a godly tool that should be cherished) under the print and prying the print off works really well. The print should just pop right off. ... show more

  • Yes, it's money well spent for great prints.
Okay.. There are so many reviews and broad mixed emotions on these glass beds. Being this was my first 3d printer and first forray into the genre, I was completely unbiased either way, so this review will reflect the pros and cons. First off, the bed is nice. No flaws, was packaged very well as to prevent damage in transit and is a good value for the money. I didn't straight edge it to check for warpage, but I've had absolutely zero leveling issues. Next, let's talk about the only real issue I have with it. It's not enough to ding the stars, but still, it's pretty lame. You have to secure it with binder clips. To me, that's absurd no matter what. Why would you make a plate such as this that doesn't have a secure mount system, and one that requires the user to use clips that impact the print dimensions. Makes no sense to me. From there, the rest is all good. Printing on the textured side works fantastic for PLA, no doubt about it. Zero problems with adhesion, no glues, sprays or tapes needed. With that said, the slick side is even better! Whoops, did I just say that?! Haha! Yes, the slick side for me was recommended in one. of the FB groups and its been awesome! PETG, PLA, PLA+ are all filaments I've used and they all hold on for dear life. Until cooled off that is. But let me tell you, if you start on the textured side and decide to flip it, it's a real PITA to remove from magnetic bed base (if you have one on yours). It sticks with serious bite, but it's actually easy to pop off if you use Scraperite plastic razor blades or similar thin, ridgid plastic scraper. You just have to get between the glass and mag surface, and work your way around until you hear a slight POP. The it's released and you should have no damage to either the bed or mag surface. If you hear a crack and not a pop, you messed up lol. Using glass, you need to tweak. your temps a bit, but once you have everything dialed, it's an awesome bed surface. Can't see the need for PEI so far, glass has met ally expectations. ... show more
