The ice maker is really easy to use, the most important part of it is that it makes ice even when its really hot. The design in general is quite interesting but the process of building the cubes works great, after a few hours the whole chamber was filled with ice. It comes with a blue light that after a while it gets annoying, but don't worry it can be turned off. Setting it up was a breeze, just connect the water supply (I have a water filter) and the water disposal to your drain, plug it in and you are set. Initially give it a few hours, because it needs to adjust and climatize the chamber so ice can be produced. Initially I got one and it was defective, I took more than 30 days to return it so it was out of Amazon's 30 day guarantee but working w/ the merchant I was able to get it replaced. In general great service and a good ice maker, so if you are looking for one, this is for you.

We love our ice machine! It’s easy to use, a great size and fits perfectly in our pantry. The customer service was also incredible. They reached out to me first regarding the ice machine and made sure I had received the machine and it was working appropriately. They helped work with me to set up the ice machine and when we had a couple issues setting it up, they were quick to offer suggestions and even refunded us for some of the trouble. Customer service was always quick to reply and offered helpful information. We also love the ice and the ease of working the ice machine. It’s quiet and makes tasty ice quickly. We’ve had it for almost 2 months and love it! Would definitely recommend. It does requires a drain and our drain was not in the floor so we had to purchase a drain pump which was so easy to install and set up. Would definitely recommend!

I received the first ice maker, it worked great for 2-days. After that the ice kept getting thinner and thinner so I had to turn up the freeze time. On the 3rd day, only the top half of the freeze grid would freeze and the bottom half would make little tiny cubes. By the end of the 3rd day, the entire grid was making little cubes that would melt on the thaw cycle and fall down onto the full paddle and just melt in the water cascade. Thus, it ended up being a perpetual cycle of making little cubes that fell down onto the paddle without enough weight to lower it, they would slide up against the waterfall and melt. So I returned the unit for a new one. I received the new one, installed it, and guess what? This one lasted 4-days. It did exactly the same thing. At first, it worked great and I was happy, then it just spiraled down and eventually on day-4 was doing exactly the same thing as the first unit. It is like is was not getting cold enough. I set it to the longest freeze time and it just would not make ice. Little tiny nublets of ice ejected, fell down into the water bin and just recycled. Producing nothing. Final opinion, don't waste your money or time. I am very frustrated with the time I spent on this stupid low quality machine. Lesson, you get what you pay for. I bought it because it was the size I wanted. It was a mistake. I have to admit, Amazon has been very responsive to my issue and has not argued the return at all. But, if you do buy this machine, hang onto the box and styrofoam so you have something to send it back in.

WE have had this ice maker for about 3 months. We had a Kenmore that we had for several years but it quit working and needed major repairs. We had paid about $1200 for that one years ago. We looked at similar ice makers but all were that much or higher. When I saw this one, I didn't think I would like it because it doesn't look like my old ones which had a solid door like refrigerators. I thought this one would look too "industrial" for my kitchen, and at the price I just didn't think it would be any good. Well I was surprised. I actually love the way it looks in my kitchen - I love the blue light and the clear door, and it just does a great job. You can set how long it takes to make ice - I like it at 5 minutes because the ice breaks up better when it falls. I am so happy with this unit and would highly recommend it! We left the white cover on it, but may take it off at some point in time. For the price this unit is just amazing!!!

We have had this icemaker installed for one week. Self installed, but replaced an older ice maker. Started making ice within 13 minutes. Filled the bin in a couple of hours. Great looking machine and great ice. Our friends, who have a Scottsman, were here and really liked how the Gilati looked and worked. Might have started to feel bad about spending over $3,000 on theirs when they liked ours better. Overall, great machine. I did replace the drain tube with something a little firmer so it wouldn't kink against the wall when put in place (because I'm picky). About a $10 fix/upgrade. Overall, great purchase.

Removing the protective covering from the stainless steel was tedious and required me to disassemble the machine to get it all off. Expect to make a trip to the hardware store to collect necessary fittings to connect to the water supply, especially if you desire to install an in-line water filter for the best ice quality. Very happy with the amount and quality of ice produced, and the count-down timer of the cycle is a great feature. The cascading water over the freezer cube tray during the ice-making cycle does spatter on to the window and causes some of the existing ice to get wet and melt. As a result this machine can be a water hog: 2/3rds of the water is turned into ice; 1/3rd goes down the drain. Be sure you have a good way to deal with the condensate/ice melt, either with a floor/gravity drain, or an external catch basin w/ float switch and electric pump. I purchased this unit to replace an existing in-home wet bar unit, which only lasted 3 years before flaking out. This unit was 1/2 the cost and is working very well. I reused the existing "sump pump" for the condensate/melt that was purchased and plumbed for the original unit.
