Installed in just a few minutes. Started it up and unit did not make ice at first. Contacted Tina at customer service and she carefully walked me thru how the machine worked and had me take videos. When taking the videos I noticed water from the basin tank going behind the basin not into the basin as it should. Took the basin out and applied silicon behind the basin. Reinstalled the basin tank and everything started working and making lots of ice. You see if the water doesn't go into the basin tank it can't get cold enough to freeze. Has been making lots and lots of ice since. What I like most about this machine is that it makes a bin full of ice and then goes idle until it needs to make more i.e. doesn't run all the time.     • Perfect ice maker for a variety of occasions.
I am very pleased with this versatile ice maker. It was easy to set up and came with instructions anyone could follow. It will plug in anywhere and starts making ice within a few minutes. The control panel is easy to use and operate. At home it can be used anywhere such as a gathering spot in the kitchen or a home bar. I expect to use it for entertainment on a back yard porch or poolside for special occasions. You could even take it with you on trips such as camping, fishing, hunting or tailgating at a sporting event. Within a couple of days of receiving the ice maker customer service contacted me to make sure I was satisfied with the product and gave me contact information for questions and help with registration for warranty. That rarely happens anymore so I am pleasantly surprised by their support. Love the product and the customer service. ... show more

OK I will make this as short as possible but provide as much detail as I can. We were replacing an ice maker in our home in a controlled environment. The other one was a different manufacturer and was worn out. We decided to give the Gilati a try for the money it was priced well. We ordered it and it arrived a day early. So this seller has fast shipping. The box was in good shape and not damaged. We removed the old one and installed the Gialti. It did come on but would not make ice. In fact it never got cold to the touch. My guess was it had lost all the freon. I made contact directly with the seller to ask for a replacement unit. Tina was the customer service representative that handled all our questions through responsive emails.. She asked for our Amazon order number and a short video of the water running in the ice maker and I answered a few other questions about what we had tried. In very short time Tina advised we would indeed need a replacement unit and provided the information for us to get that going. Amazon ordered a new unit through Tina and it too got here at our home a day early. In fact I know there is no way they could have got the previous unit back yet since I had just taken it to the return facility the afternoon before. We connected the replacement unit and it is making ice just as it is supposed to. Tine has even followed up with us to make sure we provide the information to set up the warranty for the new unit. We are very happy with this seller and their customer service is the best we have ever received from buying anything on Amazon and will but from them again. The unit works as described and makes great small square ice cubes. You can even change the setting for the ice to be thinner or thicker so it last longer. The ice is clear and the unit does shut off when the storage compartment is full. If the compartment needs more ice the units starts up and fills it back up. This is a great unit. NOTE: The unit is EXACTLY 15" wide and when the door opens due to the way it is mounted is takes a little more room than 15". About 1/4' more width But- It does fit in our 15" space as advertised. ... show more

Edit: After posting this review, the seller has contacted me repeatedly via text, voice, and email with offers of a free-standing icemaker at no cost, along with a full refund on this product, with an understanding that I'll delete this review. Customer service after this review was posted has been very good and while I appreciate the free ice maker, it doesn't change this product's review. I now question any reviews on Amazon, since it appears that unseen negative reviews might have been quickly bribed away. Original Review: It makes ice fairly quick but if you specify that the ice should be thicker, when it falls out of the ice maker try, it fails to break up and remains in the holding tray as one big sheet of ice cubes instead of individual cubes. You'll need to keep a club or hammer handy to break up the ice sheets into individual cubes. If you specify thinner ice, it will break up when it leaves the ice maker tray, but it is so thin, it starts melting almost immediately and is laughable to put in a drink or ice chest. The machine is not insulated, so the ice begins to melt as soon as it is made and the water drains out of a hose on the back bottom of the unit. You'll need to connect this hose to a drain line or set it by a floor drain. This is not optional. And of course, they used the cheapest glue possible to connect the hose to the bottom of the ice holding area (see picture), so it leaks badly and has the potential to flood your nice hardwood floor or your downstairs neighbor. Can't trust it when you go out of town. It also had lots of water leaking out from the bottom of the ice maker. It wasn't from the water supply line or the drain line (which also leaked, as stated above). The water is from the copper compressor lines running in the back of the ice maker, from the condenser to the compressor. The lines freeze over and melt constantly as ice is being made. There is nowhere for the condensation to drain to, other than on the floor under the Ice Maker, and this was unacceptable in my 5th floor apartment, since it will eventually soak through the floor and damage the apartment under me. I tried putting insulation around the copper lines, but they eventually soak and leak the water to the bottom of the unit and onto the floor. The video shows the water, and my effort at insulating the lines to stop the condensation. I could not convince the customer service people that the water wasn't just from the drain line, which appears to be a known problem. I was three weeks past the return date (due to installation labor issues), and while Amazon did take it back, it was prorated steeply. I'd advise staying away from this machine and all the ones like it (under different brands, but I suspect they are all the same poor quality). I removed a Kenmore Icemaker that worked great for 20 years and that didn't need a drain line at all, and replaced it with this cheaply made product that was defective on day one. ... show more

This unit cranks out the ice. The white plastic protective wrap on the exterior is a little difficult to remove, but it reveals a nice stainless steel exterior. Reaching out to register for the warranty, was prompt and successful with the rep- Tina.
