Great starter lighting kit for home studio setups I bought this MOUNTDOG 2-pack softbox lighting kit to improve my lighting for video calls, filming content, and general home studio use, and overall I’m really happy with it. Setup was very quick and straightforward. I had both lights assembled and ready to use in about 10–15 minutes. The stands are lightweight but stable enough for indoor use, and the height adjustment makes it easy to position the lights where you need them. The light quality is a big upgrade compared to regular room lighting or ring lights. It produces a soft, even glow that looks flattering on camera and helps reduce harsh shadows. It’s especially good for talking-head videos, Zoom meetings, and basic product shots. I also like that it comes with adjustable color temperature options, so I can switch between warmer and cooler lighting depending on the mood or time of day. The remote control is a nice bonus and makes it easy to adjust settings without walking back and forth. That said, it is definitely more of a beginner or budget-friendly setup. Bright lighting, terrible plastic smell.

I got these larger lights to replace a smaller set that just wasn't doing the job for photographing resale products. They were easy to set up and are plenty bright. They are off-gassing a horrible plastic-like smell that is permeating the house, but I am hoping that dissipates soon. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Just two other little things: 1) one of the light sockets seemed to have grit or something inside, as the bulb was scratchy when screwing it in, then the light wouldn't turn on the first try. I removed the bulb and cleaned the socket really well. When I put the bulb back in it was still making small gritty noises, but I snugged it up tighter and it worked this time. 2) The remotes are not individually coded. Both lights respond to either remote. Watch out, because if you have one off and one on and use the remote, then when you turn them both on and use the remote, each will respond to wherever it left off in the cycle, so you need to get them matching before turning them off and then using the remote to control them both at the same time, or they'll be out of sync with each-other. Effective and efficient.

This light is incredibly bright, and easy to assemble and use. The provided remote works well too; however, the remote works with the installed lightbulb, which means, you have to open up the diffuser in order for the signal to reach the bulb. Kind of annoying, but not end of the world. The different temperatures of the light are nice and smooth, easy to use and adjust. The physical temperature of the light bulb isn't too hot. There is a metal heat sink on it to help with dissipating the heat; however, even being under that shroud, it hasn't gotten piping hot. I wish the power cord was a bit longer, an extra couple of feet would be incredibly nice and helpful. The light also comes with a bag. I'm not entirely sure why, as I haven't been able to figure out how to get anything back into it. Maybe I'll figure it out one day. Still happy with the purchase, it is plenty bright enough, large enough, and easy to use for its price point. ... show more

A lot of light for a low price
Modern technology and Chinese manufacturing really have done wonders to bring formerly expensive gear down to reasonable prices. This softbox kit is a prime example. For under $100 you get diffuse light sources with variable brightness and color temperature. Each light is well made and easy to assemble. The softbox itself deploys and locks into shape easily and quickly. It's also easy and quick to screw in the LED bulbs and attach the covers. If there's anything to nitpick about it's the hardware where the softbox attaches to the light stands. It could be beefier but it's totally functional. I have a feeling it'll break if tightened too hard or forced in a lateral direction. I don't plan on manhandling my softboxes so I'm not too concerned. The light stands aren't Manfrotto quality but they more than sturdy enough to support the softboxes. The same nitpick about the hardware applies here as well. It's good enough but not super beefy and probably won't stand up to excessive abuse. The lights themselves are plenty bright and can be easily dimmed as needed. It's also easy to switch color temperatures. I used one remote and controlled both lights simultaneously. As near as I can tell without a meter, the color temperature and brightness is a good match between both lights as well. Each component (except the bulbs) comes with a bag and there's a larger bag that all the parts can be placed into. My wife makes jewelry and as been using a small softbox she made for product pictures. Her softbox is too small for some of the pieces she's making now but this kit is perfect. It's also great for taking product photos of things I sell on-line all the time. I can't believe how much you can get for this price point now. Super pleased. ... show more

Great for Professionals and Beginners!

I recently purchased the Softbox Lighting Kit, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results!
