Really sturdy feel. Nice and taught. So much so that it was a little difficult to get the last few notches pulled up. The grip seems a little plasticky and unsure of how long that will truly last. But out of the box it's so far so good. Just u boxed so I have uet to take this out in the field to use ut but already I feel confident that it will do what I need it to. I bought the 35" one and it appears probably the right size to carry around without it being too clunky. But it's big enough to get a lot of coverage on your subject. The portion that clamps the speedlight in place is basic but seems to hold the speedlight in place after a few good hard shakes it didn't budge. But be wary not to screw down the clamp too tight because I can foresee cranking down too much and possibly cracking your speedlight. A good snug fit and you should be just fine without it moving around on you as it has a rubber pad to keep it from sliding out of place. This octagonal softbox works as expected and is a welcome addition to my lighting gear! While there were no directions included--none--there were some how-to images included on the product page. It was easy to setup and works as expected. I highly recommend this softbox!

I would label myself a semi-amateur photographer and I dabble a bit in the portrait photography world. I recently bought and off camera flash and I wanted something that worked well with the flash and was very portable, when I was looking for a soft box. This was my second purchase in the pursuit of a good softbox Looking for in purchase: -Value -Portable -Well designed -Worked with my flash Design: Very rugged and well designed. The material is lightweight and seems very rugged, like a thin raincoat. It has an interior defusing panel and an exterior to result in soft light. The mechanisms to extend the box into position seem like great quality. While it is small once deployed, it does not pack very small (if you would like that look for the GODOX softbox, but that has some flaws too). Issues: Other than the size when collapsed, there are none. Positives: ++Material ++Design ++Ease of deploying ++Build Quality Negatives: --Folding --Cost (there are a few cheaper items out there, but you get what you pay for) Final Thoughts: I did keep this and would do so again. It produces great results and offers a very soft light that does well with product photography and portraits. I also like the way that the item folds and how sturdy it feels. I will say again, when it comes to portability it is lacking there (the reason for only four stars in the review), but you have to find what is important to you. Would I recommend: Yes, while not as portable as others (the reason for only four stars), it is not extremely bulky and is easy enough to carry with me when I need to. It is a fantastic item and will worth the additional dollars to get to this level of product ... show more

I bought this a few weeks back for an upcoming portrait session. The session turned out well and I was able to get some great images, however, the problems started when I was breaking it down. Following the instructions, two of the plastic pieces that clip into the bracket/flash mount, broke. One snapped with such force that the plastic piece went flying somewhere and I was unable to retrieve it. The other piece stood inside, but it is completely broken. I understand this is a cheaper softbox, however, Neewer is a still a trusted company... I am very disappointed in this product and will be attempting to get a refund or replacement. Edit 11/11/21: I spoke with Neewer Customer Support directly and they were very apologetic and sent over a new softbox right away. I have since set up and broke it down several times and it seems like this one isn't as weak. Thanks, Neewer! ... show more

I'm currently using this with the included hand grip as a mobile softbox/flash fill and I can't think of a better setup to use while on the go. Also great for taking photos of car undercarriages with a speedlight as your main flash.
