Firstly, note what you are buying. If you want something easy to install, more and more wireless options are available, as are the over the license plate cameras. This one requires a drilled hole to mount it. Mine did come with the hole saw, which some others noted as being absent. The reverse output (mirrored) or not function is achieved by connection two control wires together. Therefore, you could run these to a switch if you really wanted to do that. I could't get mine to show the the black lined grid, but I don't care--I didn't want that anyway, and was just trying to see what it would look like on the screen. Speaking of the screen, it is not widescreen. Thus, I have an unused portion of my in dash video screen because my screen is of course widescreen. Ultimately, given the price, as a playtoy, this is a great deal. If I was really serious about attaining the best and widest view possible, and price wasn't a big deal, then go ahead and pay $150++ for name brand camera with a wider field of view. But as a supplementary viewing option, this is great. Might want some Rain-X on it though ;) ... show more

When I got this camera, I made a bracket to mount right above my Reese hitch on my truck tucked right up under the bumper. I tapped into the reverse lights on my trailer harness so the camera only powers on when my truck is in reverse. When I first got it hooked up I was really happy with the picture I was getting and really thought it was a score for an in-expensive backup camera. Then came night time. When I was backing up at night all I was getting was a white image like someone was shining a light right into the camera. So the night image was useless. I was going to send the camera back and try a different one, but I decided to see if I could fix the one I had first. The light was coming from the IR when it came on at night, it was reflecting off the inside of the glass and right back into the camera. There is supposed to be a little piece of foam to isolate the IR from the camera, but it didn't actually go all the way to the glass. So I took it apart and re-cut some foam and double sided tape to get the two isolated again. After putting it all back together it works great both day and night. I give it three stars because this is a very simple problem that should not be an issue coming from the factory. ... show more

Also put on at rear for backing up and I love them both. Front view camera allows correct view, a rear view camera mounted on front shows objects on the right, showing instead on the left on monitor. Installed on the rear of a corvette. Not too bad. Picture is a little washed out (ie it's not a hi def camera or anything crazy). Seems like the night image is a bit weak but I haven't seen anyone else's camera at night to compare. If you're in a dim lit or more parking lot it's not too bad. Works Okay. The wide angle view is good. The colors are not even close to being true. As with any camera that has IR LED's behind the same glass as the camera you will get a washed out night view. The option to turn off the grid lines might be useful for some applications as well as being able to reverse the image at the camera. I paired it with Generic 7" TFT LCD Color 2 Video Input Car RearView Headrest Monitor DVD VCR Monitor With Remote and Stand & Support Rotating The Screen which also allows reversing and rotating of the video input. Nice features to reverse image and remove parking grid for use on front of vehicle. Poor quality video however. Lines and stuff through video, the night vision does not work. It ends up blinding it's self. Dual makes a much better quality one bca366 I beleive. Just not able to reverse the image without jumpering the circuit inside the camera on the i2c chip. Fortunately for this pyle camera I won't need night vision due to headlights. But the video feed has too much noise. So I will keep this back for another project. ... show more

Very nice. I esp like this one because larger lens and option to use as front or reversed mirror image. I used a 1 inch PVC conduit u bracket to surface mount under bumber (gray ones at home depot elect depart). Very sharp and good day/night vision
