Works for 2014 Nissan Frontier SV King Cab with Wiring Adapter AXBUCH-NS for the RCA connections

Affordable backup camera that fits my 2014 Nissan Frontier SV King Cab. You will need an RCA adapter wiring harness to use this camera with the factory head. I used this one AXBUCH-NS. Makes it pretty much plug and play. I installed the wire in plastic loom that I purchased here on Amazon. Mounted the camera to the rear license plate using the adapter that is already attached to he camera. Cut the blue wire per the instructions, as this truck uses the CVBS signal type. Then ran the loom over to the driver's side taillight. Here I tied both red wires (you need to connect both) to the backup light hot (light blue) and then connected the black grounds together also at the light. Ran the loom on top of the left frame rail following the existing loom and tie wrapping as I went. Brought the wire up through the driver's side floorboard using an existing opening (had to remove a white plug) and then into the cab. Ran the harness over to the radio. Plugged in the AXBUCH-NS harness adapter kit to the radio. Plugged in the RCA connectors and attached the single red signal wire to the reverse signal wire on the wiring harness. This is the trigger wire that tells the radio that the backup camera is on. I did not use the yellow or black wires on the wiring harness and just tapped them off. The camera resolution is perfectly fine and the trajectory lines are stationary so watch the sides of your vehicle when backing up. They are fine for centering into a parking space. Haven't used it at night so I don't know how well that works. Just happy to have a working backup camera at a very affordable price. Hopefully it will last a while. I would purchase this again. I was able to easily adapt to use as a quick disconnect setup

I was looking for a low cost wired camera setup for my RV trailer that would allow -2- things, multiple cameras and a quick disconnect system at the hitch of my truck. In all my research it seems the second is all but impossible to find. After reading other reviews of this camera and one review in particular where the user said he was able to adapt it to do exactly what I wanted, I figured I would give it a try. I ordered the unit in March and received it in a timely manner. Since the weather is generally lousy in the Northeast that time of year and our first trip out wasn't until May, all I did when I received the unit was bench test it and look it over to see how I could adapt it to my needs. Everything worked well on the bench, so I put that aside. In order to make the quick disconnect work, it actually turned out easier than I expected. There are four coax cables that come from each of the cameras that run up to a single cable. This separate cable is about five feet long. On one end are four connectors for the camera coax cables, 12 volt power and ground for the entire system, and four other wires that can be used if you wanted to force a specific camera to full screen (if you use the left turn signal and you want the left camera to go full screen). On the other end is a thirteen pin connector that plugs in to a short connector on the monitor. That's all there is to the basic wiring. Normally this short cable would be in the vehicle connected directly to the monitor, with the coax cables running from it to the cameras. This really only works for a motorhome type setup in my mind. What I did to make it work as a quick disconnect was this. I ordered a 30 ft 13 pin cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019S238FO/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_12 and ran this from the bumper hitch next to the trailer cable connector up to the front of my truck (a crew cab 6.5 ft box pickup) and into the glovebox. This left about five feet of cable in the glovebox to pull out when needed to connect to the monitor. I then took the five foot adaptor cable that came with the camera kit and wire tied it to the trailer connector cable and ran it back to where my batteries are located on the hitch right behind the propane tanks. I took the four coax cables from the cameras, which I mounted one each on the left and right side ahead of the wheels and two on the rear, and attached them to the adapter cable using a generous amount of dielectric grease in each connector to help protect it from the weather. Note here that I had also purchase a couple of shorter pieces of coax cable so that I wouldn't have a lot of extra coiled up in the way. There are numerous sources available on Amazon. The last piece of my setup was to supply power. I purchased a water proof illuminated rocker switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019UM15U2/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_11 and through a 10a fuse wired it directly to the battery on the trailer. I connected the 12v positive in the harness to the switch and the 12v negative to a ground on the trailer frame and I was all set. Back in the truck there are several ways to mount the camera, I settled on attaching the stand to the back of the camera and using a pair of small bungee cords attaching the stand to my rear view mirror. I pull the cable I need out of the glove box and connect it to the camera. When I hook up my trailer all I do is back up, hook the ball, attach the trailer wire, connect the single push together camera connector, and flip the switch in the hitch to turn on power for the cameras and monitor. When I disconnect it's just the opposite. Don't forget to turn off the power as even without the monitor attached the cameras will still be drawing power! The monitor allows multiple viewing layouts from single camera thru 2, 3, 4 and different combinations of cameras. It also allows you to rotate the view of each camera individually until you have them all aligned as you would like. Unfortunately for me the first time I actually used the camera, I ran into a problem with the monitor where it started blanking out and losing settings. I contacted the seller and described the problem. Keep in mind you are contacting someone in China so there is a 12 hour time difference. They got back to me the next day with a few suggestions for me to try. I did, but they didn't work. I contacted them again and they got right back to me again the next day asking for my shipping information. They were going to send me a new cable because they thought that might be where the problem was. Coming from China it took about a week. I tested the system with the new cable but still had the same problem. I again contacted the vendor and this time they said they would send out a new monitor. I have since received the monitor and tested the system with it. So far it all seems to now work fine. It appears the monitor was defective. Overall I believe I will be pleased with the camera system. The quality of the cameras seem quite acceptable in daylight. I haven't had a chance to try them in the night, but I am hopeful as I had the painful experience of coming home late once last year and trying to back the trailer into my yard in the dark was not something I want to do again. A slightly larger monitor option would have been nice. When you have all four cameras up at once a seven inch screen is tight. A nine or ten inch would be much better, but at this price you can't complain. The initial problems I had with the monitor were unfortunate, but I give the vendor an A++ for customer satisfaction in working with me to get the problem fixed and at no additional cost to me. Finally with the addition of less than $50 in parts I was able to customize the system to do exactly what I wanted and function as a quick disconnect setup. Good camera, bad instructions, only suitable for backup (and not rear-view)

This camera seems to have a clear picture and gets the job done. I can't yet speak for the longevity of the camera, but I am diligent about updating my reviews if something fails prematurely. A couple notes: The instructions are very poor. In fact, neither the instructions, nor the camera itself, give any indication of the proper orientation (IE you cannot determine which side of the camera is supposed to be the top). Thus I had to connect the camera up to the radio and rig it to function to see which way it mounts. This is CRITICAL because the camera overlays parking guides, and those most be on the ground of course. The wire on the back comes out TOWARDS THE TOP of the camera. It would have been helpful to put an arrow or "UP" label on the camera, or show a diagram in the instructions, but they did not. Next issue with the instructions is it assumes you need to wire into your reverse / backup lights at the back of the vehicle. This is totally vehicle and radio specific, yet a person not familiar with these kinds of installations may think this is the way this camera must be wired. In my application, a VW Jetta, the wiring harness and the radio both provided power for backup camera directly. Thus I ran power from the radio, through the camera power wire back to the camera. So you do not, and should not in some cases, need to wire the radio the way the instructions show. That is merely one way of doing in if your harness does not provide reverse directly, or you do not prefer to pull that power off the wiring under the dash. The instructions should indicate this is just one method of wiring for some vehicles and radios, instead of making it look like that is the only way this can be wired up. Finally, the white LED lights on the radio (I assumed they were infrared, but this is NOT an IR / night-vision camera, and those are NOT infrared LEDs) always come on when the camera receives power. If you only want to use this as backup camera that's fine, as it only comes on when you're backing up. However if you want this as a rear-view camera (IE to use it while you're driving down the road to see behind you) then the LEDs will be on continuously, which may be illegal and at the very least looks dumb and will probably cause them to dim over time from being on constantly. So 4 of 5 stars for poor instructions (not indicating which way the camera needs to be installed), and for white LED lights that cannot be disabled. ... show more

Tiny but good. eRapta ERT02 2nd Gen.

eRapta ERT02 2nd Gen. This cam is about 5/8" x 3/4". It's pretty small but it does put out a good quality video. It appears to be well made, and it was well packaged. This is my first backup cam, so I have nothing to compare to, but this does everything I need and expected. Order on Wed, delivered Fri with a Prime trial. As others have previously reported, the wiring is delicate. I used a split wiring loom from Lowes to protect all of the wiring outside the cab. Major pain installing the loom, but I felt it was needed. All connections and fittings were painted with Liquid Electric tape, as I suspect ANY corrosion on these thin wires will likely kill the cam. Others have also reported water intrusion from rain/car wash, in spite of it being "waterproof". Once I got the angle right, I tightened up the lens cap (it's threaded) to improve weather tightness. I further painted the entire shell of my cam with the Liquid Electric tape to prevent any moisture from getting in the cam, so hopefully that will work. The mounting bracket is firm but bendable. I was able to position my cam so I can see the edge of the pickup bumper, and in that position I can still see the house on the other side of the residential street. I have a plastic trim around the license plate with the dealer name, had to trim out a little bit (1/2") so the cam could bend down enough. What is NOT shown in the seller pic is the cable coming out the back of the camera, so that slightly interferes with the bracket when bending it downward if you have a thick trim. The 149 degree lens angle is good, as you get minimal "fisheye" effect and also get good viewing distance. The VGA cable is very small gauge and includes a built in power line for bringing 12V from the backup light to the front monitor to trigger that. This is a nice feature. I used this 12V line and the 12V+ from the camera together, and tapped them into the backup light 12v+. I used the camera ground and tapped into the 12V- of the backup light. Plug in the VGA terminals and you're good to go. Included in the box is a gift card to redeem for a little monitor for the cam or a 3-socket lighter adapter. When I sent to claim my gift, I got an immediate response that I must file a review first to get the gift, and of course the seller was looking for a excellent review, they all do. I'm not sure if the quality of the review is conditional on receiving the gift, we will see, but I am just putting it out there for FULL DISCLOSURE, as potential buyers should be aware of this. I would rate this camera a 5 star with or without the gift. I just hope it holds up. EDIT: 3-1/2 years later, still going strong. A little weak in the dark, but backup lights provide adequate lighting to see where you are going. It's fine in a well lit parking lot. Feb 2023. ... show more

Installed this in a '03 39' Fleetwood Discovery motorhome after my OEM monitor started acting up. While I only have one day on the road with it, I really like it so far. It was dirty work running the new cable from the rear to the dashboard by cable tying it to some existing cables that ran forward but it was just work and dirty....not difficult. I found a grommet in the dash that the cable would go through. I chose to drill a 5/8" hole in my front cap for the side view monitors but the installation looks great. I had previously found a switched 12V line and just tapped into it. I used COMMAND brand velcro like tapes to fasten the mount to the glass face on my old monitor because Fleetwood made it very difficult to remove the old monitor without removing the entire dash. I really like the new view from the passenger side. It was always nerve wrecking to do a right hand merge because of blind spots. Now I can easily see WAAAAAY to the rear and in conjunction with the rear view monitor have a great view and can easily tell if some fool is trying to sneak past me on the right or hiding in the blind spot. The instructions are minimal but it's really just plug and play. The color is really a bit light, almost black and white but for the price it's much better than I expected. The night vision is great but I have not yet driven in the dark. If they offered a combo with the monitor and one rear and one side view, I'd have purchased that but now I have spare cameras. Hopefully they will last a long time. Rather than switching from camera to camera, I've decided I like the split screen with the rear view and the right side view. The images are a bit distorted by the aspect ratio change but I'm after information as to what is behind me not a beautiful picture and this split screen means I don't have to figure out how to connect into my turn signal switch, rig another switch, or press a button on the monitor. I'm very happy with my purchase Edit, we traded motorhomes and I ordered another kit for my '06 Discovery. Same result. VERY happy. I have several thousand miles on these cameras now and wouldn't be without them. The passenger side camera is worth it's weight in gold. Best performing wireless backup camera I've tried

This is the third wireless backup camera I've tried and it is by far the best. Image quality was great, frame rate was great and I had absolutely no glitches while driving on a 500 mile road trip. I have this installed on the back of my 26 foot camper and it looks like the factory installed cameras you see on many newer campers. This camera has a 120 degree view angle which, for me, is the sweet spot on not distorting the view with too wide of a view nor does it miss the traffic that is close to the camper. At a 120 degree view angle, you can see vehicles a fair distance back as they approach. The 5" display monitor is plenty big for watching one camera without blocking the driver's view. I had it mounted to the windshield next to my TomTom GPS navigation device and they were about the same size as one another. I did use a remote antenna for the display monitor because I wanted the antenna attached to the roof of my truck for better overall performance. The included monitor antenna may have worked fine but roof mount was my preference so I did that during the install. Powering the camera was a matter of tapping into the 12 VDC wires going to a compartment light in the rear wall of the camper. I also installed an on/off switch to facilitate easily turning the camera on and off. I had intended to record the trip on a 128GB memory card but I failed to turn on the record feature properly. Maybe next time. Overall, this is a wonderful wireless backup camera and monitor set up. The other wireless cameras I tried used my phone as the monitor via an app and that didn't work well at all. The Wi-Fi was way too weak on that style camera. You won't be disappointed by this camera system. UPDATE: I've added a short video clip while in heavy traffic. Video can freeze, dangerous

I had the video freeze twice since I installed this camera/display in early April, About 2.5 weeks of camping. Both times I was backing into a camp site. The one time, I jumped out of the van to walk around to inspect where I wanted the camper, leaving the engine running. I get back in and back up suddenly realizing that the video was not moving....then noticed, I was in the picture from walking around back. Ended up getting way to close to a tree!!! Power cycled it and started working again. After the 1st time, I contacted the seller about the issue and the response was that it is wireless so there must have been interference. No other help. My configuration...only a 15 foot camper with fiberglass walls (not aluminum), and a minivan. The signal strength indicator on the screen shows full strength. With the response, with everything already installed, I figured, only happened once. Well...just a few days ago, happened again. This time backing into a state park with no cell reception for any cell carrier and no wifi. Same thing, Got out, looked around, then noticed it was frozen, this time my wife was in the picture, but she was off to the side. Power cycle fixed it, think it must have been the display freezing up as the camera power cycle did not fix it. This is very dangerous. A camera system for a previous camper would mess up, but the screen would blank. Much better safety in that you then know it is not working. ... show more

Nice real time display, but poor video quality on playback...

I installed this camera system on my RV to have forward, rear, and side camera views and the benefits of recording. On screen the content is sharp and clear with good color balance and saturation, but the recordings appear to be over exposed and lower in fidelity, so while functional, it is not as clear as even the most inexpensive dashcam. The other issue I have with this system is that it does not save the current date/time when power is removed from the system. I put the monitor on a switch so I could conserve battery when not using the system, but when I remove power the date/time resets to some time in 2023!
