If you've injured your ankle but don't have the luxury of actually being able to do "lite duty" at work or "rest" for 6 weeks, this is the solution! I recently started a new work contract - time off is not an option. Even if it was an option, bills don't take "time-off." A couple of weeks in, I went to stand up and heard and felt a "pop" in my ankle. Immediate pain and inability to bear weight on it. After a week of RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) and white knuckling it through work, it started to feel back to normal. Well...last night at work, I went to stand-up from my computer, and I heard and felt the "pop" again. Panic mode initiated. I found out I have an avulsion fracture. Generally, these heal on their own. Surgery isn't required because of the location and size of the bone fragment; however, 6-8 weeks of rest and minimal weight bearing is recommended. Again - Not. An Option. This boot makes it possible and costs a fraction of what I would have paid if I'd purchased it through the doctor's office. Yeah, it's bulky, but it is STURDY! It puts my lace-up brace to shame! It compresses and stabilizes my ankle. It doesn't feel like my bones are rolling around or cracking, no ligaments pulling - it's stable. This, my friends, provides a nice space for my ankle to heal without putting me out of work. There's traction on the bottom like a regular shoe. The soul of the boot feels like a brand-new pair of shoes. Basically, you don't feel the floor, haha. Also, it's not heavy. I'm a size 9. I'm right on the line between a small and medium. I chose to go with the small and I'm glad I did. I think the medium would have been too bulky and gotten in my way. The boot came with 4 extra pads which seem useful in the even the boot is too big for you or if it rubs and irritates your foot/leg. I'm 5'5 and muscular - my calves are thick - and the Velcro is perfect for adjusting the boot to insure a good fit. Too lose? Tighten. Too tight? Losen. I love the adjustability. I haven't worn it at work yet and am interested to see how well it performs and stands up during a 12-hour shift in a hospital. I'm almost certain it's going to irritate me at some point, but it's worth it to be able to go to work, keep my job, and make money. Speaking of money, $42 isn't a bad price tag for the boot. I am very satisfied with this boot. Because of reading other reviews, I purchased the "small" instead of my instinct, "medium." I'm glad I did, because I'm an exact ladies size 7, and this boot fit me perfectly. (I would recommend a ladies size 7 1/2, 8 or 9 to get a medium, and ladies 5, 6, or 7 to get a small.) I noticed some complaints about it being loose on the foot, and mine came with padded inserts so that the velcro closures can be pulled tight. I had no problem tightening it. I do wear a compression bandage and cast sock underneath for comfort. My foot is fractured at the toe and metatarsals, and I had a lot of swelling, so I do not tighten the toe strap too much. I am able to tighten the top shin one and it's great. Durable, soft, comfortable, rubber rocking bottom. This has allowed me so much freedom off of my crutches, and the ability to go out to the grocery store and to the movies, etc. I do recommend getting a cover for it, because the soft felt can get covered with dirt or pet hair if you're out and about. (Check out My Recovers brand of boot covers, it fits this boot perfectly.) I am 100% satisfied. I feel the quality of this product is very high. I would definitely recommend it. A+

I have severe Arthritis in one of my feet and the bones are very unstable so my fear is that without support, I will end up rolling my ankle and possible causing a fracture. None of the "so called" braces or supports have worked so I decided to get a "downsized version" of the full leg walking boot (it was very heavy and bulky) I had for a previous surgery on the opposite foot. I needed something that would support my ankle and foot while walking and this seems to be working "so far". My wish is that this came in two versions with male and female sizes because I have found that the "width" of this brace is so big that even when I use the extra pads that are included, it is too wide for women (or men) who have narrow feet or ankles. I still am happy with my purchase and other than the width, I found the sizing to be accurate. I wear an 8 1/2 woman's shoe and the small fit perfect and did not allow my toes to hang over the end which was my original fear.

I have an aggressive form of osteopathic arthritis and it flares up now and again in my feet, making me essentially bedridden in pain for at least 2 weeks. But, when I am able to start moving around, I use a walking boot. In the past I have used the walking boots my doctors gave me. They were HEAVY, ill fitted, and just monsters to use. I go to amazon and get this little guy, buy the size associated in the description, and I am floored. Not that I fell to the floor, that I can walk safely and comfortably. The sized are perfect. The last boot given to me by a physician had a solid 3-4 inches of extra space from my toe to the edge of the boot - so I caught that part of the boot all the time on steps etc. This boot is lightweight, while the other boots I have used are SO heavy it almost made my injuries worse. Walking with an injury is so much easier because I'm not using extra energy to lift a heavy boot. Because it's lightweight, the ease of use to get it on is 5 stars. The velcro is so much nicer than my other boots. The "slots" that the velcro uses to slide through and tighten are SO MUCH easier to use and the durability of the slots is so much better. In my old boots, the "slots" (hinges?) would fail and turn sideways making adjusting tightness impossible. And finally, don't EVER fall for the boots that have that old 90s sneakers "air pump" at the top of the shoe. It works for about 60 seconds, and deflates in one step. The top strap is all you need to have a secure boot.

I really wanted this boot to work because it's nice and short. But coming from my doctor issued tall boot, the lining on this was way too thin, and also much too short. It caused a lot of pain in my toes.

Ordered this because my doctor wants me to wear a tall boot to rehab bone spurs that are wreaking havoc on my achilles. Went to an orthopedic center to be fitted for a tall boot. The tall boot isn't uncomfortable at all on my foot or my leg. It doesn't rub anywhere, and I can walk in it very easily, it's just really hot in the dead of summer. My doctor isn't a fan of air boots as he said they wear out very quickly so I thought this would be a good alternative. I tried this on and the back of the heel, where the liner meets the plastic form, rubs on my heel and it is waaaay too uncomfortable. If I went any distance, I know I'd have a big blister to contend with. I've decided that I'd rather be hot that have the plastic molding rub my heel. I'm sending it back.
