  • Its Okay With Some Problems
I bought the United Cutlery UC1183 Knife Roll on Amazon. It arrived on time and was packaged in a plain un-padded envelope. The knife roll does its basic job but is low quality and does not look like the advertisement photographs. The interior is basically a piece of felt with elastic stripes. It does not work well with anything over a mid sized pocket knife. Each knife that is put in pulls the row of elastic and takes away the from the elastic next to it so by the end of the row there is nothing left to hold anything. The elastic is of poor quality so when you remove a knife it does not spring back to its original shape. It stays stretched out. The handle on the exterior is also placed in an unusual spot so when it is carried it tilts. I attached some photographs to show how it looks. Not to worry it works fine for fishing lours. ... show more

  • Perfect For A Collector's Small Knives
This knife roll bag is the perfect item for one's small knife collection like pen knives and similar sized knives. If you are a collector of small knives like Whittlers, Canoes, Trappers, Stockman's, Congress's or knives like the Buck 300 or 700 series pocket knives, then this is the knife roll for you. It is NOT made for larger knives, so if you buy this for larger knives, then don't complain that you can't get but 20 knives in this 51 knife roll bag. Besides, with larger knives, you'll over stretch the nylon elastic bands out of shape. Fair warning! If one needs a storage bag for larger knives, conduct a search...they're out there (even at Amazon) that will meet the requirement for larger knives, and at reasonable prices. ... show more

  • You won't get the advertised amount of knives in there but it's a nice case otherwise.
I would give it four just because I like the case but I can't. They claim it hold a lot more than it will for most knife collectors. I will be including a video and pics later. If you buy standard mtech knives (about 4 - 4.5 inches) you can put one on the top and one on the bottom row. But don't expect to fit anything in the middle row, except an extreme micro knife. Why they just didn't make this case to fit standard size folders is beyond me. It's like companies now a days have no clue about their own products and how they are in the real world. So anyway it's a very nice case and I still recommend it to anyone who wants a nice & convenient way to protect and show their knives & keep them clean. I was using sheaths but the dust got in the top and I never knew what knife was in what sheath. This case as well is more flat than it is a roll up. Maybe I'm supposed to force it into roll up shape or something, not sure. I just tried it, I guess you can squeeze it into a roll. Long short, expect to get about two thirds use of this case. Other than that and it being kind of tuff to carefully get my mtech knives with seat belt cutters in there, their almost too wide to fit and you have to be sure not to cut your straps with the seat belt cutters. LOL Yeah so don't just pull them out the wrong way or you will. Straps are very stretchy which is good. Hopefully the straps wont lose their stretch and the stitching will hold, other than all that it's a very nice case and doe's the job well. Oh, it can get kind of heavy and I don't even have mine full yet, so handle with care I hear the handles and stitching can rip if not. Oh one last thing, my belts to hold it closed just fit and I don't even have it full like I said. Buy one though it's a four star case, I'm just picky about not being able to get all the knives they said I could in there. I mean 4 - 4 1/2 inches is the standard folder. ... show more

  • A Very Good Knife Roll (for so little money)
I have a rapidly growing folding knife collection and bought this 'knife roll' for my smaller knives. I have quite a few large folding (4"+ blades) knives, but they just don't fit very well in this 'knife roll'. It's not the fault of the roll or the design, because I have to admit that it was designed for smaller knives. It would be great though if they made a 'knife roll' for much larger (4"+ blades) folding knives, like my Brous Blades knives, Medford Praetorian, Proelia TX020, CKF (Custom Knife Factory) Transformer Decepticon 1 & 2, Kizer, ZT 0200, Buck 12-point, etc.(large folding knives), with larger loops and more spacing between them..While I can FORCE some of my large knives into the loops in this roll, there's just no way to get them side-by-side, as the loops are just too close together. Still, it works well for smaller knives, like my CRKT, Kershaw, Boker, etc.knifes, which I have quite a few of (most collectors do). The roll has plenty of padding and the fit and finish are pretty good. Not great but for SO little money, it's tough to complain about it. I just ordered a rather large hard shell with customizable foam inserts that I'll be using for my BIG knives, so I'm all set now. ... show more

  • Limited true capacity, but has functional purpose still.
I have purchased 4 of these items total. They will not hold the capacity indicated, unless the knives are very small and you are not concerned about possible marks from contact. I have approximately 26 knives in each roll. There are 3 rows of 17 slots for knives. I put 9 in each outer rows, skipping a slot between each knife. I then use 8 slits in the center row, again skipping a slot between knives, which alternates between the slots used on the outer rows. I still have some potential for rubbing between knives, but this is minimized when rolled due to the cloth liner flaps. Additionally, I don't think the elastic loops for each slot will allow for each slot to be utilized unless the knives being stored are small and slim. The elastic is basically three separate strips down the entire length of the toll (with 6 rows of elastic total, 2 per each knife row). Bigger knives will use most of the available elastic stretch for that section. So, although it does not reach near the listed capacity for the knives that I store in the rolls, it still does a great job at storing and protecting my items (average of 80 - 100 mm in length folded). I don't have very expensive knives in my collection either, so that is taken into consideration of my rating also. I wanted to give it a 4 star (I like it) but decided that a 3 star (it's OK) would be more accurate for most potential purchasers. If it was made and advertised to accommodate fewer knives and the elastic retaining strips were re-worked, it would have the potential for 4-5 stars from me. ... show more
