Different from normal Nylon material, Unigear gaiters choose 1000D Nylon on the low legs, which reinforce abrasion resistance and anti-tear. Feel free to walk comfortably through the thickest thorns and sharpest rocks.

Took these puppies out after a 14 inch snow, tromping through a field. My feet stayed dry, no snow in my boots. Took a minute to figure out how to make it for perfectly but they are well worth the investment. These will be a staple in my winter gear. They do run a bit tight like all of the reviews state. If they were any tighter, I would have needed to exchange but as it stands, they fit snuggly over my snow pants.

I purchased two pairs specifically for a winter trip to Yellowstone. Very happy with them, they have been added to our winter gear bags as standard gear. Based on suggestions from other reviewers, I decided to size down, and I am happy with that decision. I ordered myself a small (shoe size 8.5, calf size 14”) and my husband a medium (shoe size 9.5, calf size 17”). The sizing chart would have put us in a medium and a large respectively. When I received the gaiters, I did try on the medium, and although they fit fine over my boot, there was a gap at the top that I could not cinch closed, about 2 inches, which could potentially allow snow in. If you had bulky insulation layers or a bulky shoe, sizing down may not be for you (I wore a boot, base layer, sock and waterproof pant-no bulky insulation). I looked at purchasing Outdoor Research gaiters, but the price point continued to give me pause. This product has the features I was looking for, including a lace hook, durable strap under the arch of the shoe, high denier nylon, large hook and loop front closure, and easy one hand webbing top cinch. I am very happy with this purchase.

here's why not a 5: the camb fastener at the top of one of the gaiters is slightly malformed so it is very hard to close. Not impossible but it takes a long time to get it to. Not ideal when added to the already cumbersome process of suiting up for bad weather. But they are sturdier than other products and so far completely waterproof.

The gaiters work just fine for the most part, but they trap a lot of sweat. My lower legs are soaked after a day of logging. I ordered a size medium, and it fits fine on the foot, but the part at the knee is loose. The buckle and strap doesn't have enough slack to cinch it closed, so debris goes right in. It will definitely protect you against brush, but if you're expecting to be dry and debris free, look elsewhere. That is unless you have monster sized lower legs. Then you only need to worry about all the sweat.

I just got these and I like their fit so far! They are made of thick, sturdy material and fit well over my boot. I’m a size 8.5-9 men (42 EU) and went with a size M. It fits perfect. The top strap holds them in place and bottom clip and hook/loop feature seems to be well made. The strap at the bottom is made from rubber faux-leather (biothane) material. I’ll update if they don’t pass the field test.

Size breakdown: - 5’5”, 108 lbs, pear/athletic-shaped - 9.5 women’s US shoe size - 13.5” around widest part of unclothed calf - Size small fit perfectly The size chart said I should get a large, but this seemed wrong because I’m pretty tiny and these are unisex. I went with small because it just seemed logically right. The small fits perfectly. Anything else would be too big. Do not go off your shoe size. Instead, go with what you think your unisex calf size would be, or compare to my or other reviewers’ measurements. I haven’t used them yet. I deducted a star for the completely inaccurate and worthless size table. Update: I used them once so far for snowshoeing. They worked great! They stayed in place, kept snow out of my ankle boots, and made no noticeable difference in my ability to move around. I’d give them 5 stars if it wasn’t for the useless size table. It seems like such a ridiculously easy thing for the company to fix if they just changed it to be off of calf size and not shoe size.
