The Uniden R8 is the best radar detector I've bought. I've had good experiences with other brands but this one has the most features and best accuracy. It can detect Ka bands 1+miles to avoid speed traps. There's only a few cons people should be aware: 1. No native app for Android - use Highway Detector (works like a charm) 2. Overly sensitive to different radio signals like storefront automatic door sensors - will need to adjust your radar settings through the software (which can be a bit complicated if you don't know what you're doing) and/or mark everywhere if you are using it in the city 3. Updating the firmware requires you to connect to a computer It's an expensive unit but well worth it. It probably saved me a few speeding tickets so it's paid for itself.

I love it better then Escort because it works as good and better in a lot of cases, like the long distance signal is better then the Escort and a better value for your buck. I would buy from this seller again.

Not a cop detector, but the best radar detector you can get. Make sure you adjust the settings appropriately for where you drive.

You wanted the best. You wanted sensitive. You wanted long range. Fine, have it your way. This thing can detect radar about a mile ahead. It can also detect home alarms and any other K band appliances, get ready for a lot of false positives. Even with Vortex Radar’s custom settings this thing pops for everything. 5 Stars because it’s ‘too good’. Auto Mute Memory is a life saver. This thing is really the best you can get IMO. About 15% better than the R7 so depending on your budget that may be a better option. But if you want the best R8 is it.

Ngl that m f do read pretty far to the point where you're well informed before they know (tho laser is still laser tho) the K band auto mute tends to forget after a while but I think it’s still pretty reliable … BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO REMOVE FROM WINDOW IF OUTSIDE AIR IS ABOVE 85°F This prolly has contributed to the k-band auto mute issue ngl. In terms of sound level it does let you vary it tho keep it below 8 as it's quite loud on start up. For battery it does turn off after a while when not in use tho it does stay on for about an hour maybe less so just turn it off up top when leaving. I highly recommend this and will be getting this for all of my cars. Sorry for punctuation

This is my first radar detector. It gets a lot of false k band alerts when I’m driving on the highway. Not sure if it’s normal or not. Will keep an eye on it.

Everything about this latest top of the line release by Uniden seizes upon the latest tech and screams “watch this” demonstrating intuitive behaviors memorizing distracting non necessary radar emitting devices stopping the false alerts. Its range is rated at 3 miles so unless you’re driving 95 without brakes downhill in the Rockies you’ll not have to worry about having plenty of response time when urgency demands it. I highly recommend this high dollar marvel to anyone wanting the best available the Uniden R8 model.

I was sick of waiting for a promise from another manufacturer, so I pulled the trigger on the R8. Uniden just updated and added Bluetooth. I like the arrows and the auto lockouts are OK, but I wish I could get it to lockout the MRCD I get everyday. Supposedly you can press the mute button twice for manual lockouts, but I can't seem to get that to work. Maybe it won't for MRCD? I replaced my Radenso DS1 with this. My wife likes the Uniden better, not sure if the tones or what. The singe mount is great, but the dual suction cup one is a little flimsy. Still hasn't fallen off after a month though. I like that they include 2 mounts since I swap it into whatever I am driving. I wish they would make the new ones with USB-C, but I see why they stay with the old style, then you don't have to upgrade if your hardwired in. Update: I travel all over the country, and I was surprised the first time I went to a different time zone that this unit doesn't change. I know there is GPS on it because it knows where you are for red light cameras and mute memory, So why doesn't the time automatically change? I have used it to my advantage and I know that is my home time so I don't have to do any calculations. LOL.
