  • Great for even heating.
We live in an RV in the summer and my small gas stove bakes very unevenly. I had heard about using a pizza stone to remedy that so I thought I’d try it. I can say now that it works perfectly.

  • baking stone
The stone is just fine. We use it for making pizzas and calzones. The problem is that we got 2 of them, to potentially fit across our oven side by side (since they don't make one big one oven-sized), and they appear to be about 1/16 of an inch too wide to fit. So my husband has to figure out a way to sand off 1/16 of an inch so that we can use both together. ... show more

  • Well made, thick, heavy, don’t drop it!
Well made, well packed, over 1/2 inch thick and very solid. I have this same stone at another location and it works great for both pizza and calzones - just get it hot enough for long enough. Pizza baking requires preheating for 500 degrees for 30 minutes per the manufacturer instructions. I bake calzones at 375 degrees. One obvious tip. These stones are VERY fragile - use care when handling! I wanted this stone specifically for my Wolf countertop oven and occasional use on my gas grill. Wolf does not make a pizza stone for their countertop oven - that’s irritating. I measured the inside of the Wolf oven prior to ordering and this stone was very close to a perfect fit. When the stone arrived, it was a bit too wide. So I took a shot and narrowed it down a bit with a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder using 40 and 60 grit flap sanding disks (see photo). The corderite material in this stone is harder than the aluminum oxide abrasive on the disks so it took 4 disks. My alterations worked perfectly for my need. See the photo of the stone just after trimming and the other photo of the stone in the Wolf oven and look towards the back - you can see where the notches make it fit around the frame. Overall, I trimmed the stone width about 1/4 inch and notched the back of the stone another 1/4 inch on each side to fit around the steel rack frame in the oven. NONE of these modifications are recommended or encouraged, the manufacturer is probably getting stomach pains reading this review and if you ruin your stone trying to make it fit, that was your choice. I’m just saying it can be done - with the right tools, some patience and a willingness to risk destroying the stone. I’m happy with the outcome & this stone will improve the versatility of my Wolf countertop oven. Hope that helps! ... show more

  • Works well
This works great for chocolate chip cookies. It didn’t crisp up flatbread pizzas like I had hoped though.

  • Too Easy and Delicious
Package well received. Gave a rinse. Threw it in the smoker at 500, waiting 30mins. Bought Trader Joe dough and tried Safeway dough, both good. Left out for 30 mins, tossed some flour out, rolled it out and formed my pizza plus sauce toppings. Lightly floured a piece of parchment paper, carefully set pizza on. Once Traeger reached 450 w/pizza stone, placed pizza with parchment paper in for two minutes, reopened pulled out the parchment. Cooked pizza for 11mins or so. So delicious! Def recommend this item! ... show more

  • BEST PIZZA STONE FOR HOME
I am in the refractory materials business at industrial level, so you bet I have some knowledge on refractory materials properties and performance. I bought two stones for my home oven. The stones fit side by side perfectly allowing a full surface and room for manipulating your pizza without having to worry about sauce or chese spills falling to the oven bottom. Two stones side by side allows baking any pizza size up to 14 inches . The product arrived in an excellent package duly protected that I stil use to store the stones after use. All complaints I did read from other customers about smelling are simply because whether they didn't read or didn't follow the absolute clear instructions that come along with the stone. As any refractory brick you should never dare wash it while still hot due to thermal shock will create the material to crack and break. Also you should not dare washing the stone with any kind of detergent becasu the stone will absorb the chemicals that may be harmful as well as transmitt such chemicals to the pizza dough while baking. Just wash the stone with water after cooling and scrape any cheese or dough particles with a metal spatula or a steel wire sponge. It is absolutely normal the stone getting "cured" with use , so don't worry about the stains left by the pizza , that's absolutely normal. Simply go and have a look inside a wood-fired oven in the pizzeria and you will see how many stains it has. People who complain about any smell is just because they didn't read or didn't follow the absolutely clear instructions included with the product . One last advice: after use and washing allow the stone to dry completely , if possible under sun light. Otherwise, if you store it still wet you may create an excellent environment for fungus growth. This pizza stone is a real excelent product. It may last many years and allow you to enjoy tasty pizzas if cared properly. I hope these lines have been of some help. ... show more
