I give the clamp meter 4 stars. It surprisingly works. I brought it into work to compare it to other meters. Tested 0603C1.5nF, 0603C4.7nf, 1206C1.0nF, 0805C47uF, and 0603C680pF capacitors. Readings were very close to the five hundred dollar BK Precision 880. The BK 880 measured the 680pF at 707.3pF and the Uni-T measured it at .745nF. It not only measured nanofarad capacitors as good as the Amprobe 37XR-A, it was quicker at autoranging. Clamp meter was tested with various 0603 resistors and measured the values right on par with all of the meters in the picture. I tested the AC current of an 8.3 amp heat gun using a Klein Tool Line Splitter 10x and compared the reading to a Klein Tool CL900. In another AC current test, the Uni-T was tested measuring AC current energizing a coil. It matched the Klein Tool CL900. For a DC current test, the Uni-T meter was setup up to measure current of a DC stepper motor. As you can see, it pretty much matched the Fluke 179. I tested all of the other functions and everything worked. The backlight only stays on for about five or six seconds. I think that feature sucks. There is a hack you can do to reprogram the EPROM chip inside the unit to make it a 10,000 count meter. You can also change the backlight to stay on longer, set the meter to auto power off after 30 minutes and change the order of the AC/DC settings and the Resistance, Continuity, Capacitance, and Diode settings. Look up uni-t ut210e hack on youtube and look for the 10,000 counts Clampmeter Upgrade for Beginners. I am going to keep this clamp meter since everything works on it. Small size was what I needed to track down battery drain source on my car. Fits in tight spaces. Ability to read DC current amperage is excellent.

I’ll start off by saying that I am a commercial/industrial HVAC/R technician. I bought this meter after watching a vid from Dave over at NorCal Refrigeration, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve compared it to my flukes, and my fieldpiece meters and it’s just as accurate. For the money, you cannot go wrong with this thing. It’s a tiny meter, and it adds little to no weight in my “service/troubleshooting” bag. I’ve dropped it, left it in the rain (on accident), and overall put it through hell. It’s held up. I was even able to get my dad, another technician(42 years in the trade) and fluke diehard, to pick one up. He loves it and swears by it. Just buy it, you won’t regret it. ... show more

    • Handy meter for DC current measurements
If you need to take DC current measurements, and don't need supper accuracy, this comes in handy as you don't need to break the circuit to take readings. That said, this type of meter has some limitations at small currents due to temperature changes requiring zeroing and sensitivity to magnetic fields. ... show more

    • Can't be beat
All checks on resistance, amps and voltage are spot on vs other meters. This is a good clamp meter. Always starting on AC is the only minor gripe, but simple push of a button to DC is quick and easy.
