    • Okay, so I see what the other reviewers were talking about…
I did an obscene amount of research into air fryers prior to purchasing this one (my first!). I decided to get rid of my microwave entirely, and solely use the stove, oven, or this air fryer. Here’s a few things to know: 1) the buttons to adjust the temperature specifically, and also the time are a bit of a pain, as you have to find the “sweet spot” in order for it to react to whatever setting you’re trying to change. The aspect that makes this even more annoying is that it has an automatic “countdown”, and if it’s not picking up your attempted adjustments, it just automatically starts at the base setting - which is like….370 degrees and 14 min. Here’s what you do: it took a little bit of practice, but I’ve figured out where the true sensor for these buttons are. If the machine starts and it’s not the settings you want, simply pull out the tray, push it back in, and attempt adjusting again (it will restart again as soon as you push the tray back in, but I find, for whatever reason, it seems to make the device more quickly sense my touch adjustments). Or you can also continue to press until the device reacts, as it allows you to change settings during cooking as well. 2) I was concerned about how leftovers, especially from my favorite Mexican restaurant, would reheat in this, as there’s no setting for just “reheat”. LEMMETELLYOU. I pop those tacos, enchiladas, French fries - you name it - in there, set it at 350 for like 5-8 min (checking half way through ALWAYS - no matter what you’re cooking or reheating), and when I tell you, it comes out BETTER than the first time I ate it (guess it gave the flavors more time to meld?) Like serious game changer. I even tried it with Taco Bell (why am I admitting this?!) and it was BOMB. Soggy food and cold fries are no match for this - and I’ll *never* microwave (erm, not only bc I can’t) leftovers again!! 3) Cleanup is a breeze! I was concerned with how items containing cheese would do with this & how hard it could be to clean off - but it comes right off! Also, I tend to clean mine pretty regularly (2-4 times a week depending on use and the foods cooked). I will say, this week was rather rough, so I didn’t do my usual cleaning until after I had used it 5-6 times, and while it was still super easy to clean, it did require slightly more “elbow grease” to do so. No pun intended 😉 My opinion: if you’re looking for a good, large air fryer and aren’t deterred by the prospect of having to learn the device (which makes it sound complex, but it’s really not) - try it! It’s like the French Bulldog of air fryers: aesthetically pleasing, lovable, & eventually listens to you, but just a littleeeeee bit stubborn 🙂 ... show more

    • One word to make with this...Whole Roast Chicken...
This is big enough for a 4-5 lb chicken. Anything larger than 5 lbs will probably be too close to the heating element. Makes the absolute most beautiful roast (or air fried) chicken. Gorgeous color, crispy skin, juicy and tender meat. The Ultrean is also super easy to clean. Let it cool completely, and wipe with paper towels. Then just handwash with a little dawn and water, rinse and dry. That's it. There is nothing to scrub. Also, if you put a bit of aluminum foil underneath the removable grid/plate thing at the bottom of the fryer, you might be able to get away with no cleaning....just remove the aluminum foil and you are done. Here is my recipe: The night BEFORE you want to eat this, take a 4 lb chicken, and wash it really well. Dry it with lots of paper towels, Take your hand and work it under the skin to separate the skin from the meat. Do it on the breast and back side and try to get into the legs if you have small hands. Don't tear the skin! Mix 1 tsp baking POWDER ( make sure it is POWDER and not soda), with 3 tsp kosher salt. Sprinkle all over the chicken (which you have patted dry). Massage this into the bird. Sprinkle black pepper all over the bird. Put the bird on a cookie sheet and stick it in the refrigerator UNCOVERED for at least 24 hours. This dries the skin and dry brines the bird (that's what you are doing with the baking powder/kosher salt mix). Then two hours before you want to start air frying, take the bird out and get the chill out. Make a seasoning of thyme, dry mustard, sage, onion powder, garlic powder (I just use 1/4 tsp of each). After the bird has sat for 2 hours, brush the entire bird with olive oil, then sprinkle the seasoning mix all over. Place BREAST SIDE DOWN in the Ultrean 8 qt air fryer and air fry at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes. Then flip it so it is breast side up and air fry at 350 for another 20 minutes or so or until internal temp is 165. Let rest for about 15 minutes. Carve and serve with mashed potatoes and gravy! I also made air fried chicken tenders (marinated in mayo, garlic and dijon mustard, then coated with panko and reg bread crumbs, parm cheese, salt and pepper, 400 degrees for about 5 minutes each side), air fried salmon (400 for 12 minutes) and also air fried roast pork - I used country ribs (380 for 13 minutes, then flip and another 6 minutes). Everything came out perfectly yummy but the air fried chicken was the best! ... show more

This fryer is wonderful! We already had an Ultrean fryer that we loved and used all the time, but sometimes we were limited by the size. The larger size of this one allows us to cook things that we weren't able to make with our old fryer. The very first meal we made was an entire chicken - impossible with a smaller fryer. The skin was crispy and the meat was tender and juicy. Our second meal in the fryer was a pork loin. The fryer made a nice "crust" on the outside and the meat was perfectly done. The last "big" meal we've used the fryer for so far was acorn squash. I was able to fit all four halves of the squashes in the fryer, and this was my favorite meal yet! The fryer caramelized the squash and made it taste so sweet! For fun we made some meatballs in our "old" fryer to serve with the squash. An entire meal brought to us by air fryers! :) Overall highly recommend! ... show more

    • Big capacity, easy to clean, perfectly cooked food!
I already had the 5 quart Ultrean air fryer, but couldn’t help myself to get this larger version. I’m so glad I did. The basket is a great size for larger recipes and saves me from having to cook meals in batches. The smaller version often required less time than recipes required, but the 8 quart cooks everything perfectly! I’ve done wings, pierogies, corn on the cob, fries, and pizza rolls to crispy perfection. The wings come out perfectly juicy inside with that crunch you desire from frying oil. I’m so glad I upgraded! The price is great, the controls are easy to use, and the basket is a breeze to clean. It even comes with a cookbook! Highly recommended! ... show more
