Sound bars to replace the tiny, tinny speakers that come in flat screen TV's have become essential for most viewer-listeners. They improve the sound for TVs that are not part of a "home theater" set-up, and for which it's convenient to place a speaker system in the shape of a "bar" under the TV. This item is a good sounding bar, with clear and crisp sound regardless of the volume level and complexity of the material. Plus, it has several features that give you more flexibility in how you use it. Likes: ~~comes in two sections that can be locked together to make one continuous horizontal bar (the usual configuration), or separated into two vertical speakers if that better fits your room (see pics) ~~is Bluetooth-enabled so you can stream content to it from your phone, laptop, etc. (haven't tried this yet) ~~has a separate (wired) subwoofer instead of trying to squeeze bass from the sound bar, which doesn't have enough physical space for larger speakers; when it comes to bass speakers, size does matter ~~the amount of bass from the subwoofer is adjustable from default "0" amount to "bass +1" and three levels of less bass (-1, -2, -3); this turns out to be an important feature because relatively inexpensive subwoofers frequently produce a booming or muddied bass, so you can moderate the effect to suit your listening environment. The amount of bass will also depend on the space around the speaker. ~~impressive design and quality of construction; assembly tolerances are tight and secure ~~the remote is well designed and easy to use; confirmation of changes show up with LEDs in one of the speakers, and the lights go off between commands ~~all cables potentially needed for your set-up are provided, including HDMI ARC, fiber-optic, and RCA ~~the user manual has the right amount of detail and the English is written by someone with English as their primary language; a QR code is provided to access an online video tutorial Dislikes: ~~you must choose between one of three sound equalization profiles labelled, Music, Game, or Movie. Most likely the Movie profile enhances mid-range frequencies to help make dialogue comprehensible against background music and sound effects; Game provides bass boost to enhance sound effects; and Music is either "flat" or has slightly elevated bass and treble. Usually I don't like to be limited so much regarding adjusting the sound equalization, but that applies more to listening to music than watching TV or movies. So far I've found that one of the three settings, regardless of its title, used in combination with adjusting the bass response at the same time, works well enough for me. I realize having the option to adjust the sound to fit the source probably isn't that important to most people, but just in case... ~~little or no audio technical specifications I haven't done comparison shopping so can't speak to retail value.

I've used a number of sound systems over the years, including a variety of both sound bars and full surroud systems. While nothing quite replicates the power and depth of a full surround system, a great sound bar can give you a solid audio experience (easily surpassing the relatively weak speakers built into nearly all televisions) - and this is a great sound bar supplemented with a strong subwoofer for a great extra kick of bass (which many other sound bars can lack). The sound stage is quite deep and you get good clarity across the relavant volume range. Lows get extra punch from the sub and the highs / mids are strong from the bar itself. Setup is quite easy - you simply plug the bar and sub in, connect the two with the included subwoofer cable (which is standard cable in case you need a longer one for your setup), then connect the two halves of the sound bar with one of the two included cable lengths. Then you hook up your audio source via optical (what I'm using), an aux cable, HDMI ARC or Bluetooth and you're ready to go. Where this sound bar stands out though is it's flexibility. Normally, a sound bar is just that, a single bar that you would want to put below your TV (either on a piece of furniture or mounted to the wall). THIS sound bar though has a trick up its sleeve. Sure, it can be a normal sound bar but you can also quickly separate the bar into two halves that can then be either placed horizontally OR mounted vertically (or stood up vertically in their included stands). This capability is unique and really increases the flexibility of the bar / setups you can achieve while still getting great sound. (And it's just as quick to put back together if you change your mind!) So if you could use a bit more flexibility in your audio setup, this sound bar is a GREAT way to get that adaptability to different positioning and still add great sound / depth to your music, TV or movies. The Ultimea Sound Bar for Smart TV with Subwoofer was pretty easy to set up. Connecting the sound bar to the subwoofer and to the TV through an HDMI switch so I can switch the audio from the sound bar to a Sony stereo or have both on for a true surround sound experience. The Ultimea sound bar gives you options where to place it and whether you want it displayed as 2 pieces or the full sound bar. The sound quality is quite good and once connected to the TV I don’t need to use a separate remote for the sound bar, everything is integrated so one remote controls everything. Overall I’m happy with the audio quality and volume of the Ultimea sound bar and subwoofer. The Bluetooth option to connect my iPhone or laptop to the soundbar is an interesting feature but I would have preferred if the sound bar was wireless and really could be placed anywhere in the room rather than wired and placed next to the TV. ***UPDATE*** This soundbar has been hooked up for TWO weeks and already we have static coming from the soundbar. We canNOT have the sound bar on at all due to the heavy static coming from the soundbar. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY OF THIS SOUNDBAR. **2ND UPDATE** Customer Service reached out and replaced the defective soundbar with a brand-new one and so far it works perfectly. Excellent customer service!
