  • Definitely worth the $250. Would have payed $350!
Size: 8000BTU
The media could not be loaded. It has been a hot summer here in Boston. The muggy, sticky kinda heat. I really didn’t want to have to spend $250 on something I’m only going to need for the summer but last night the heat was so unbearable I finally caved in and purchased this guy. Came in 2 days and so far it was definitely worth it. Nice size to the model. It has a nice weight, definitely not cheap plastic. It even came with a remote! I had to finagle the setup a little bit because my window is too big to fit the full window blocker but it still works really well. Setup is super simple. Practically plug and play. The air is definitely a/c cold. Only goes down to 60 deg F though, but it still does a good job of chilling up to a medium-size room, just have to let it run for 20/30mins. I imagine this would even work well in a large room or house once given enough time to run. The fans in the AC are really powerful. Perfect for those who enjoy that background noise at night, like me. Would definitely recommend!!! Would definitely purchase this again. Update: I’ve had the unit for over a year now, still works perfectly and I run this bad boy 24/7 because I really enjoy the background fan noise. Like literally, I haven’t turned it off in a year and it works like it was fresh out of the box. I use it to dry my clothes sometimes! Jokes on the company/manufacturer: I would have payed an extra $100 on this unit if i had known how well it works, hahaha! ... show more

  • AC that does what it promotes...
Size: 8000BTU
Size is good, i have a 6000 BTU that is bigger that this 8000. Noise level is good easily use at night when sleeping. The rating said 350 sq. foot room i believe, and easily cools this size. i am using in a larger room just for comfort and it keeps that room well maintained. Cost was comparable if not better than anywhere else. I see it cheaper on some sites, until they post the shipping fee and then its more that amazon. Set up was easy right out of the box no direction needed system running in 10 minutes. The vents are easily removed for cleaning. Overall this met all expectations and i would recommend or purchase again myself. ... show more

  • Please read full review! Everything u need to know!
Size: 8000BTU
I have been using a portable ac in my upstairs bedroom every summer for the past 7 years. This is my 3rd unit. Even though I was sent a clearly USED portable ac, it is still the BEST portable ac I have owned so far! It is also the loudest portable ac I have owned so far BUT the blast of cold air makes up for the sound. Me and my 2 kiddos actually like the sound now as we are used to sleeping with a box fan and tv on. All portable acs are kind of short so they are at window level due to the exhaust needed. I personally sit mine on top of a milk crate so that I can easily drain it without having to lift it everyday. It is IMPORTANT to know that ALL portable acs require daily (or weekly or monthly) maintenance depending on how much you use it. I run my portable ac for around 12 hours straight. From around 9pm-9am. I drain it every morning. So far its only been about a cup or half a cup of water. You do NOT want to leave water sitting in it as it WILL make your portable ac stink as the water becomes stagnant. The instructions say you can wait to drain it until it says its full BUT with my first ac when I did that the water started to become more and more dirty vs. Daily draining the water is crystal clear. With this particular ac it is important to take a second and dry out the plugs. I take a papertowel and twist it into the plugs. It takes like 30 seconds. It helps prevent mildew and mold growth. I also rinse and dry my filter every morning and wash it with dish soap weekly. I wipe the outside of the ac with a baby wipe to prevent dust build up. All portable acs get warm, sometimes hot around the exhaust tube. I wrap mine in a baby blanket. There's also insulation you can buy but baby blanket works for me. I also hung blankets over the window. One last IMPORTANT thing is the airflow around the.portable ac. You want to make sure air can circulate around the intake (around the filter area). I slightly turn mine so that air can circulate back there. You dont want it close to the wall where air can't circulate. It's usually between 78 and 83 degrees upstairs before I turn on the portable ac at 9pm. By 10pm when we go upstairs to get ready for bed its 67degrees! Note: my first portable ac was 10,000 btu and kept tripping the breaker so I sold it. I still have my 2nd portable ac but it can't handle this humidity. I have to hook a hose up to it to continuously drain and it runs ALL night nonstop and never reaches 70degrees! This new portable ac Uhome handles the humidity like a champ! It also shuts off intermittently bc it reaches 67 degrees easily. We call it "the beast" lol. I highly recommend this Uhome portable ac BUT make sure you're not paying full price ($215) for a used unit when the ad clearly states NEW 2024 portable ac! ... show more

  • 2 Units Dead Twice
Size: 12000 BTU - Heating
I got this unit in September two years ago in anticipation of cooler nights here in Georgia. The heat function started to falter and blow cool, instead of warm air. I gave up and got a tower space heater to do the job. Then, in the spring the cooling function started blowing warm. I followed all the instructions and cleaned the filters regularly plus I drained the tank directly into a bucket. I replaced it with another brand with just the cooling function. Same setup and this past spring, it failed. So, I got fed up and purchased a cheap 6,000 btu Midea window unit and threw that one in. It's been great during some very hot days this past summer. So far so good. I'm not sure if it was the transportation process of these portable type units being the problem with the life of the unit. They are heavy and tend to get bounced around I would imagine on a route delivery. If I ever get another, I'm going to buy it in person and transport it myself. ... show more
