This docking station provides completely solid support for multiple monitors for your modern laptop that has one or two thunderbolt ports and maybe a legacy USB A port. Simply plug your laptop's power brick into the docking station, plug one or two monitors in via the two HDMI ports, plug the USB C cable that comes with the device into a thunderbolt port on your laptop and that's it!! Immediately my 2 4k monitors displayed glorious color!! And this gizmo costs only $37! When I compare this to Plugable, CalDigit etc. for $250 and up, that price is essentially free. In addition my experience with the pricier devices is that reliability of the monitors is sometimes not solid - occasional screen dropouts for a second or two, monitor going offline, etc. I'm still astonished that this thing just worked right out of the box. Easily worth more than 5 stars. Support for other ports is weak. It does have a 1 gb Ethernet port, but no extra USB A or C ports, no sd card reader support, and so on. I bought a USB A hub for my legacy devices and that works well. Other resellers, including Targus, sell this for about $100. I have no idea how Amazon can sell this so cheap. I didn't realize until after the unit arrived, but it does not charge the host device. This is mentioned in light grey text in one of the pictures, but they really need to make it more explicit. As far as I can tell it works as advertised. Decent design. I like how the input power cable is on the end and not the side like most other hubs. I use it with 3 external hard drives for my laptop; enough power to drive all 3 and no practical slow-down of transfer rate...haven't tried 4 drives but it does have the extra power input if needed.

It's a short-length cable 4-port USB-C fed to USB-A 3.0 ports with a USB-C power jack on the far end (Not for powering the plugged in to the PC, but to supply proper rails for the A's per the specs...) travel hub. If you've got a modern laptop, you're going to have one or more USB-C 3.1/Thunderbolt port. This hub does exactly what it is advertised to do. I have a 7 port hub that is about 2 months old. It is USB 3.0 hub but it is very slow. It will operated at about 30 mb/sec, the hard drive plugged directly into the computer port will run about 215 mb/sec. This hub will run just a bit faster than haveing the hard drive plugged in directly or 230 mb/sec on my machine. I am very happy. Now I only use the 7 port hub for my mouse, keyboard and card reader. In other words the slower speed items. All test were done with a very large data file being copied from one drive to another through the different hubs. ... show more
