This bowl gouge is made very well. It arrived in a plastic tube with foam cut outs to protect both ends of the gouge. It was a bit larger than I was expecting, about an inch longer than my current bowl gouges. It arrived with a nice fingernail grind. It was not as sharp as I was expecting, but a quick touch up on my sharpening set-up fixed that. I have used it on several items and it has maintained its edge. ... show more

I have UF Sharp CBN grinding wheels and they are still excellent after owning a few months. Those seem to be a great value. This gouge was just average and I returned it for a cheaper option that works just as well.

    • This is not a 1/2" bowl gouge, but a really good 3/8 that is marked as 1/2".

I ordered this gouge as a replacement my 1/2". It is not 1/2", more like one of my 3/8" gouges. But I like it so much I've decided to keep the gouge, that is clearly marked as being 1/2" but I believe that's a mistake. It is a great 3/8" gouge, I will order a true 1/2" bowl gouge.

This is a good quality turning gouge. Came packaged very well and on time. Compares to many of my tools at half the price. Sharp just needed a little honing to make nice cuts.
