The media could not be loaded. This is a great machine, but with limitations. The price point is great, and there a some terrific features on it; my quibble is that the primary features don’t work as well as they should. Let me say something about 5 Stars instead of 4, given my reservations. I am a very demanding and particular coffee-espresso-latte drinker. So to give the Udi 3 or 4 Stars really wouldn’t be fair. My disappointments in the machine: 1) The water itself only reaches a high temperature of 140º, 142º at best. This tepid temperature is saved by the addition of using the steamer for the milk or foam, but even then only brings the temp up to about 160º, which I think is the base temperature for cup of espresso, but it quickly decreases to 150º and below. The features are great, and are usually only found in very high-end machines featuring very good-looking movie stars. They work well on this machine, although not smoothly. The grinding: Work very well, has several options for how fine or coarse you want the beans, with the aid of a wheel on the left-hand side of the machine. There is a shield for the filter cup for the beans to go into, preventing the grounds from spilling over. Very nice idea, very helpful. Be sure to tamp it down a bit before removing the shield so the grounds still don’t fall out. You can brew one or two cups of espresso at a time, a common feature, but not standard. This is a different machine than what I’ve been using, so I am getting used to the difference. I like strong coffee and espresso, so I normally use three shots instead of two for a larger cup. However, even using three shots seems to be weak. My husband likes it standard, not weak, but even he finds it weak. Maybe the machine has to be used for a while. There are instructions for weak coffee and the water not being hot enough, but even following those instructions does nothing to bring the final product of brewed espresso above 160º or above. The brew comes out very quickly. There is somewhat of a discrepancy between the display features. You can see in the photos below that the instruction booklet shows different icons than what is actually on the machine. One of the icons is missing entirely, the other is just different in how it is stylized. However, the instruction booklet should show it exactly as how it is on the machine so as to eliminate confusion. For what you get, the price point is excellent. Recommended for the causal user, but if you’re a real stickler for near-perfect espresso and lattes, look elsewhere. This espresso machine is a fantastic all-in-one station that has completely upgraded my morning routine. The built-in grinder is a standout feature, as the 20 different settings allow you to get the exact coarseness needed for a perfect shot. I love how the touchscreen makes everything so simple; you can choose a single or double shot with just one tap, which is incredibly helpful when I am in a rush. The pressure on this machine is excellent, producing a rich coffee with a nice, thick crema every time. It heats up very quickly, so there is almost no waiting around for my first cup.
