  • Impressive Device
Size: 1.2" x 5.6" x 5"
Finally ditched the Nighthawks, Decos, Alien AmpliFi, etc. Bought 2 Unify Pro 7 access points and this Cloud Gateway. Unplugged the Spectrum provided router and made the Gateway my router and firewall. The difference was night and day. Ubiquiti devices clearly work together very well and they even improved over time (probably refined the clients to the right access point). This is for a 5000 sq ft home. 400-600Mbs consistently. Gateway is sporting 1GB up and down from the fiber source. The UniFi Network interface is amazing! Easy to understand what's on the network and shows every kind of diagnostic with insights. It's worth the money! ... show more

  • For people who want to have controls on their networks
Size: 1.2" x 5.6" x 5"
Very solid product. This is a must-have if using Ubiquiti AP. It supports UniFi software ( like the cloud key but all-in-one gateway). UniFi is also nice, easy to use. It has all feature/data display on your phone make you feel the controls of your network. It has been running for a bit more than a year now. Zero issue. If I would say 1 thing to improve, it will be nice if it could powered by POE switch. I have a USW lite 8 PoE switch (4 PoE + 4 Ethernet port) which powers 2x U7 Pro and USW Flex Mini (5 ports). Total PoE usage is about 23W out of 52W. If UCG can be powered by the PoE switch, I will have less wiring. Price? Yes. It is more expensive than 2 WiFi routers. My setup is about $670 (UCG, 2x U7 Pro, and USW-lite-8-PoE). But, every ubiquiti product can last more than 5 years, unlike others only last about 2-3 years (usually because of weakened WiFi signals and end-of-life firmware updates). If you want a cheaper setup, try the "dream router 7" with additional AP (with a PoE injector). You could do it with $500. ... show more

  • Solid wired firewall/gateway appliance
Size: 1.2" x 5.6" x 5"
Have extensive IT experience but didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a dedicated firewall such as Sonicwall or similar, plus those can get troublesome after/during broadband outages, when replacing broadband routers, etc. This device worked flawlessly and even those with no tech experience will appreciate the simple setup. There’s also an optional security service you can purchase and add to the OS (yes, got that after install). I would like some additional LAN Ethernet ports (8 would be perfect) but I added a switch and Eero to complete the setup. Please note that this is WIRED ONLY. The device is smaller than my Ring alarm base station and has a pretty small footprint. Overall highly recommended based on feature-set, optional add-on security service, performance and price. ... show more

Size: 1.2" x 5.6" x 5"
The Ubituiti Cloud Gateway Ultra is such an amazing product! It connects to your ISP very perfect and it has been quite stable for everything I need it to do. • Great little unit - seems very reliable so far
Size: 1.2" x 5.6" x 5"
So far this router has been rock solid. I do not use the cloud management feature and think the initial setup may have been slightly tricky, but I'm used to their older edge router units, so that was not a big problem. I used this to replace a D-Link VPN Router DSR-250V2 which would require a restart every couple of months and finally failed to connect with the WAN port. This unit and built in management software are very nice and most important - reliable. The front panel LCD could maybe be more informative, but it's already way more than simple blinking lights. ... show more

  • Perfect Solution For Small Businesses, And A Great Upgrade For Large Home Systems. Read more --
Size: 1.2" x 5.6" x 5"
We've had Ubiquiti networking pieces for a while now. It started with a couple AP's managed via a Raspberry PI, added an EdgerouterX when a prior Security Gateway turned out to be not so secure. With a local available upgrade to gigabit internet service, it's again time to upgrade for the higher throughput, plus this cloud gateway ultra bundles Unify the management tasks with some security functions the EdgerouterX isn't quite as good at. Instant plusses include no-subscription access to a listing of known-bad sites to block, with a few levels of filtering available. It also supports VLANs natively, a nice feature that lets me segregate business, entertainment, and guest access pretty easily. The Unify console manages more than enough Ubiquiti devices to support our SOHO operations with two separate professional service businesses operating out of our home. The capabilities list includes multiple options for VPN access, which when paired with the VLAN capabilities completely isolates the two businesses and the rest of our home needs. Al in a compact and low-power package that lives in my server closet. I'm still learning all the capabilities, but plenty of info and support is available through Ubiquiti's own support resources and a fairly robust online user support base. So far I'm pleased with how it's working and how easy it is to configure. If you are working on a system that demands security and performance well beyond what my ISP describes as, [cough], "robust", but don't care to go all the way to a Meraki or similar with a subscription model, this may be the answer for you. At barely over $100, it's a fraction of the cost of those Cisco options even without the subscription costs added on. After some of the hard-coded backdoor access options revealed in our last 'security' gateway, I'm a little skittish about a few of the other mid-grade pro-sumer options available now. After a few years with the Edgerouter, I'm pretty comfortable staying in the Ubiquiti product family, especially with being able to consolidate so many functions into the one little package. Are you looking for a more secure and comprehensive upgrade from typical consume routers and wifi products? Got a range of user access needs? Got a small to medium business where you want to closely maintain user access and security for both staff and guests? This may be your answer. It has been for us so far. ... show more

  • It isn't perfect
Size: 1.2" x 5.6" x 5"
This is our second Ubiquiti gateway and we also have a Ubiquiti access point, which was our first purchase. All the hardware has been great. But nobody seems to mention what isn't great. Documentation is abysmal. Coming from a Security Gateway, I saved my configuration to a file intending to restore the file to the new UCG-Ultra. The installation instructions showed (the instructions were wordless) downloading an iPhone app and using that for setup. But the app was unable to do a restore from other than the Ubiquiti Cloud, and there was no way (the online documentation just led to dead ends) to get the old configuration to the Cloud. Missing from all of this, but available from helpful 3rd-party You-Tube videos, is that I could just access the gateway at address 192.168.0.1 over a direct Ethernet connection and easily do a restore that way. Online support articles are generally terrible. The Ubiquiti software is frequently upgraded (which is great) but the documentation lags behind. This was an issue with our older Security Gateway and is still true for the Cloud Gateway. So in conclusion, I would have rated the UCG-Ultra 5 stars, but took away a star for the poor documentation. ... show more
