Our old air conditioner died and I'm almost glad it did because this one is amazing! I love that you just set them and it only goes on if it gets too hot and turns off once the temperature is achieved. It's lovely! Ihe side panels didn't work with our window but we made it work anyway. Love it.

Nice design, cools well. The unit works well. This was our first of this design type and being able to have most of the window still available is really nice. A couple of things I didn’t think of, not major: the intrusion INTO the room is more than the old style that set in the window. It’s not huge but it does hang over the window sill and stick out a bit from the wall. And, the window obviously doesn’t come all the way back down so you still have all the same issues (sealing, alarm, locking, etc). Just to be aware. The biggest drawback to this unit is the display. It is so amazingly bright it lights up the entire bedroom. It literally casts shadows clear across the room. And there is no way to dim. Horrible oversight for an item that will obviously be in use in bedrooms at night. So…brand new sleek design for a less obtrusive window unit…with junk taped over the front of it. Uncool.

I got the 10,000 BTU. It has been a blessing in this year’s summer heat. It cooled down 373 ft^2 which consisted a living room, kitchen, and small hallway. I did not drill in the holes as suggested but it kept the rain away well enough. My only downside is that it collected rain water inside and had to be drained upon putting it away. Size was good for our 40 inch wide window with the sides, the remote control required a very fine tool to remove the screw to add the batteries. Afterwards it was a breeze. I can’t complain about the noise when it did its job well, I just had to raise the volume of the music. P.S. Exposed windows and open access to the roof will heat up your rooms. Cover them up and the AC will maintain your temperature fresh.

This AC unit was damaged in shipping or manufacturing and I will be returning it. Even in “Quiet Mode” it was shaking my house walls and sounded like a construction zone with a jackhammer. I was very meticulous in making sure it was leveled both ways and even adding two rubber cups under leveling clamps did not help. The installations weren’t too hard. The hardest part was getting it out of the box. The box was tightly packed and came with instructions on what to do. On the outside of the box it said to cut away the packing tape and lift the box off of the product, but that wasn't possible. So when opening the top of the box the instructions that say to use the plastic straps around the device and lift it out of the box. I tried and tried and tried to lift it out of there. Applying more force lifted up the entire unit while holding the box down. I never was able to lift it more than half an inch. So I finally ended tearing the sides at the corners of the box and laid the sides down flat on the floor to get it out. So once you've got the box situation resolved it's easy to install. I just grabbed it around the middle of the unit and hoisted it over the window sill and set it down. There are some other things you need to do with putting the foam blocks under it first and then the foam weather stripping. They included a little bubble level so you can get it precisely level using the pre-attached leveling arms with rubber feet that are outside the window. Operating the unit was easy. I did not read the instructions and was able to turn it on and set it to a temperature. There are a few different modes that you'll need to read the instructions to really understand what they're doing and maybe to set some timers and things but basic cooling is just turn it on and set a temperature. The drain for condensation on the inside of the unit. I was kind of hoping that is there as a backup in case not all the condensation drains outside and drips out. If you do need to drain it indoors for all of the condensation, that's extremely disappointing. I live in Iowa where it's humid so we would have to be emptying this thing everyday or multiple times a day.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I love the inverted U shape - it is very unobtrusive and can still see out window. Very quiet when on the quiet setting. Thermostat works well, unlike most portable AC units. Very powerful fan and easy to operate. Nice remote. 5 stars! Update: Its also super energy efficient. Electric bills so much less than so the our previous freestanding AC unit. It works so well we may not need to install $4k central air now. If you’re thinking of ordering, do not hesitate - just do it!
