I have a very old house that often needs plumbing or other repairs. This has come in handy many times when we need to figure out if there is just a small block in the pipe or another issue that is potentially more serious. It also fits in crawlspaces, behind appliances, etc. Pretty much anywhere you need to take a peep. Consider how much it costs for a plumber to take a camera this is an inexpensive investment for someone like me. ... show more

It was simple to setup following their instructions and downloading the app. Camera returns good quality feed so things are clear and easy to see. LED lights are nice and bright. Build quality is good and durable so should survive rough environments. The only downside is the flex hose is a bit soft and flimsy so may be a pain for certain use cases where stiffness would be needed to get in to certain places. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Product Reviewed: RALCAM F406A-6.2MM INSPECTION CAMERA for $200 TL;DR; Very well executed design & manufacturing; IOS compatible verified using custom app; not compatible with old android or personal computers. I keep bore scopes on hand for various investigations in the shop. This is a beautifully made bit of kit. The whole system has a quality feel and the operation of the articulated head is very smooth and controllable. The operation is quite straight forward. Optics are the best I have used with bright clear images and massive depth of field. I could take a picture of the entire kit from a meter away or get as close as 5mm fully in focus. Even closer details could still be recognized. There is plenty of light and I had to tone it down a bit in some cases. Physically the phone mount is very nicely done but mediocre design. My phone is in a case and it barely holds it. This is a common problem with phone holders I find they are simply not deep enough for protective cases. OTOH there is a standard 1/4” camera adapter that would allow you to put any compatible clamp or camera on the handle. I do not care for the proprietary software approach. The other bore scopes I have present as a USB camera to your device. This means any device that recognizes a USB camera can effectively use the device. In my case I tried the scope with my Mac and an old Android tablet I keep around for exactly this purpose. The Mac doesn’t see this scope as a camera and the Android is too old to update to the proprietary app. So basically this device is unusable for me as I don’t normally deploy my phone in this manner. Cloud services and apps are a bit like lettuce – they just don’t keep very long so being dependant on them means I have to throw away an otherwise good device far too soon. For me the proprietary nature of the camera I have to knock off a full point. Otherwise it’s lovely but it won’t stay in my shop. 4 stars. How I review: Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points. - 0 for value but I try to provide guidance -0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel -0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on execution I select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. Most of my reviews come out 4-5 range. If possible I dismantle or destroy items to examine inner workings. ... show more

Excellent. I've tested several borescopes at various price points recently, but I've found that this one hits the sweet spot between features and cost. Without an integrated screen it's small enough to toss in a bag, and as I always have my phone on me it's no great chore to hook that up. I've just used this borescope to get a view of the base of the engine bay of a friend's Mercedes to locate a broken shock absorber that was causing the car to vibrate at idle. Without the tool it would have been a nightmare - we'd need to lift the entire engine to locate the faulty part - but it was a piece of cake with the borescope. The articulation of the camera head makes it easy to navigate through tight spaces, and the image quality is good enough to know exactly where you are. Obviously four way articulation would have been even easier, but given the higher price of tools with that feature I think two way is a good deal. I got this one for free for review purposes, but if I'd paid full price and it was my car it would already have paid for itself in save labour costs. My friend's local garage charges an arm and a leg in occupancy costs, so if we'd had to remove the engine before ordering the part it would have easily cost more than the borescope itself. Picked this up to check for clogs in some of my pool lines and it worked great. Limited in distance for the pool lines given how long they run. Image quality was ok, no issues with connecting and using it with my S23. I think it has some great applications which drive the price up over what I need to just check some clogged lines long down the way. ... show more
