This review is for SYANSPAN 100ft sewer camera. The first time I ran it down my 4-inch drain, it picked up some toilet wax and wouldn't go past 50ft due to friction, so I lubed it up with motor oil and the next time it went in easy, all the way out to 23 meters (the limit of my drain.) I especially like the length markers every meter. They are subtle, so you might not notice them. Camera picture is clear and bright on the 4-inch screen, plenty of resolution for plumbing. The wind-up spool works flawlessly. To get past joint lips and obstruction, just pull back a couple of feet until the camera angle changes, then go at it fast. Eventually it will jump over, and the camera was tough enough to take the abuse. Good product. Would recommend.

Besides the battery issue, this thing is amazing. Worked flawlessly. I was able to just use a portable battery pack, or keep it plugged in with the extension cord, which was no big deal for me. The cable is rigid enough to be able to force the camera down the pipe just fine. The camera quality is great. Overall 9.5/10. In some places this thing might cost less than paying the plumbers to do the same thing. I had an old sewer line that needed to be cleared. This camera allowed me to see that the debris was just the interior of the pipe rusting away over the last 30 years. Plumbers refused to even try to clear it and quoted me $14k to replace it (which def needs to be done at some point, maybe just not right now).

I was looking forward to receiving this camera but unfortunately it did not work right out of the box so I never got to even use it for my plumbing project for which it was purchased. The camera LED lights worked fine but the camera itself had no picture and only displayed a blue screen on the monitor screen, which is a common defect with this particular product design. I double checked all of the electrical cable connections but could not fix the blue screen issue. The mechanical slide mount for the display control box is a very poor design for something that is intended to be repeatedly removed and reinstalled during normal use. Overall it seemed like a decent product for occasional home use if it actually worked out of the box.

Camera worked great to monitor fine tree roots in 4" sewer line, before & after cleaning with snake or jetter, and as the roots grow back after time. The push cable is just barely stiff enough to push full 100'/30m length down a 4" pipe. But it's also flexible enough to navigate bends in 2" pipe. So thats a useful trade-off, to use same camera in both. Also the diameter of the reel is small, so I got better performance to be able to push 80' down long 4" pipe with 3 elbows, by un-spooling it into larger loops on floor and letting it "relax" (lose the tight coiled "memory"). Small reel is good for transporting and storage, less good when actually using it. Camera has good image quality, better than the 4.3" LCD can display. The LCD is just OK, good enough to move the camera in real time and use it to make decisions, but the camera's saved images/video quality is higher resolution if transferred to a computer (with higher resolution display) using the included SD card. The controls are simple and effective. The ability to physically rotate the LCD box display (to orient "up") is better than a fixed display.

I found this camera extremely helpful for DIY sewer maintenance. It makes a huge difference to know what is going on in there vs. guessing. Cons: instructions are poorly translated / inaccurate as you would expect from just about anything you buy on amazon. Example: what is said to be a green light when charged is actually a blue light, on / off switch is labeled off/no, that sort of stuff. The screen is small but usable ( think early smart phone size) . the charging port is slightly misaligned with its hole in the case, so there is some jiggling involved in the plug in process (be gentle). The push rod coil is about 3/16" (5mm) so I'd call it usable but delicate. I've only used it to 15' and a few elbows deep. Hard to imagine it going 100' around a bunch of elbows but I haven't tried it yet. Battery is internal so not sure how that goes at end of life. Pros: Picture is clear and if the water is clear in the pipe you can see reasonably well under water ( i suggest getting it opened up with a snake first so you can flush out the murky water). I could easily identify large roots that had been cut through and smaller roots like hairs hanging from the top of the pipe. It is light and small, easy to carry. Tips: Tread lightly, I personally know several plumbers who have gotten their cameras stuck and had to break concrete and dig too get them unstuck. watch for holes in the bottom of the pipe that the camera can fall into and get snagged when pulling back. I'm not sure what the threshold is for how hard you can pull before the camera breaks off of the push rod, but I am sure there is one and you will be sad if you exceed it.

If you need something for home use to be able to scope your own sewer or drain pipes. This is the ticket. Works great, I would not suggest this for anyone doing this professionally. I had roots in my sewer line, part of my sewer is clay and really old so it is at least a once a year process to make sure everything is clear. This was way better than paying a pro to come do it every year or six months. Along with some root killer and a snake, I'm able to keep things clear with some know how and elbow grease. I would suggest for any do it your selfer. Not going to hold up to heavy use camera and screen work fine not going to win any academy awards using them.

This is the second order I've made, the first camera, the double cable in the first bend the camera made, I requested the exchange, it was sent (I received a new one), I returned to the customer's house and the camera didn't work... I ended up losing the customer and the day's work!!!
