Description

Klein Tools ET16 Borescope features a 8 mm camera surrounded by 6 LEDs attached to a 10-Foot (3 m) armored gooseneck cable. The digital camera has a USB Type-C connection for most Android (OTG 4.0 or higher) smartphones and devices. The camera and video output is displayed on the Android device using the free Klein Tools ET16 Borescope App, available for download on Google Play store. The ET16 does not require batteries; it is powered by device connection. A homeowner must have! You can figure out a lot of problems when you can get in close to see them and holy moly does this thing help. It would probably be best on a tablet, for easier viewing, but on a phone you can still easily figure out what's going on. The USB connector is as solid as your port so make sure your phone hasn't taken too many tumbles. While pretty bare bones for a pro it has more than enough reach, light, and camera for the average joe and beats shoving your phone god knows where. ... show more

I have used Klien tools for years, so never thought twice about purchasing this camera, especially for the price AND that it was Android compatible. We were using it to inspect a faulty install on a plumbing drain where we believed the former contractor did not install a trap under a shower. I was a little concerned after opening the package and seeing that it notes that it is "not to be used for underwater inspections"; even though it says it is waterproof. After a little research, we decided that the camera itself is waterproof, but not the device where it attaches to your phone. Pros / Cons: The probe is strong, making it fairly simple to push along; However this makes it difficult to push around the 90 fitting in the drain line. It would hang on the pipe edge where it meets the fitting. The outer coating seems rugged, but it did fray some when entering the pipe. The picture quality was decent, but a focus feature would be nice. It is a little hard to see when the camera is up close to something... kinda makes the pic blur. The LED light is a Great feature and even better that you can control the brightness, However it does cause a back flash of light to the camera when up against a shiny surface. This could also possibly be controlled by a focus feature. The app was easy to install and has decent features, fairly simple to operate. The video feature has a limit on video length and is a little slow to close the video before letting you start the next video. I'm running the latest Android software, so the app itself probably needs to be updated for the newer software. It even comes with a great carry case making it easy to transport with your hands full and easy to store. I DO recommend this product!! Make sure it is capable of doing what you want, but all in all it seems to be a great device for the price. I can't wait to use it while fishing our next wire down a wall. ... show more

I’ve tried 5 different borescopes ranging in price up to $90. The Klein ET20 with the WI-FI connection and 6 foot armored goose is the way to go. I use it with an iPhone. The construction of the ET20 camera is solid compared to others. Its price is a little higher, but worth it from a practical use perspective. The borescopes are designed to be used in confined areas, such as inside of walls with the viewing area 3 to 24 inches away from the lens, max. Don’t think you are going to get good picture quality beyond this range. Also, other cameras may have longer lengths, but their cords are flimsy and no good beyond 5-6 feet if that. If you think otherwise, buy both, test for yourself, and return the one you dislike. I hope this info is useful. ... show more

gets into some small gaps, but the apps are very crashy the one they recommend doesn't work as well as some 3rd party ones. the biggest problem is the whip between the camera light control dongle and the end of the goosenecking is only 4" long and is hard to set the phone down on anything without knocking it down or pulling it out so you either are trying hold the phone and awkwardly guiding the probe around or you need a second pair of hands just to hold the screen up. second problem is the brightness control is free spinning so you can accidently lower the brightness really easy if you have to use this by yourself. should be clicky dial or a click-slide button, off-33%-66%-100% something like that. will probably get something with a dedicated screen when i need to replace this. ... show more

Great product but is a little cumbersome with phone plugged possibly just need to get used to handling the unit there is a bluetooth version availible that might be better but it's more than twice the price so I'm ok with this one picture quality is perfect and the ability to capture unlimited pictures and video (well only limited by phones storage capacity) is a big plus the goose neck is very stiff witch makes it great for pushing around obstacles in celing cavitys does not come with attachments for hooking but may be able to buy 3rd part versions ... show more
