Excellent beginners weight arm twister exercise tool

I already have one of these arm twister exercise units, but it is a much higher spring tension than this one. My partner wants to exercise with me but using the first twister was impossible for her, so I wanted a lower tension unit. This one goes from a supposed 40lbs to 100lbs. (I say supposed weight because, like resistance bands, the actual weight they represent can be wildly higher or lower than advertised.) But she has no problem using it and, I admit, I'll use it as well. We just got it today, so we'll really put it through its paces tomorrow. One thing I like is that you can identify which one is the higher spring weight and which is the lower without picking them up. The heavier one has blue lines in the recesses of the hand grips and the lower weight has gray lines. I've used the original one in every workout and I love it! This one feels exactly the same high quality. I'd give it ten stars if I could, but five will have to do.

Well Designed but Limited Application.

The Twister Arm Trainer is advertised a "full body muscle trainer". I was interested if this could help hit some muscle groups a little differently, so I gave it a try. On the positive side, this unit is easy to assemble, has very comfortable grips, and is relatively easy to adjust. It also does a great job as a standard chest exercise tool. Out of interest, I decided to use my travel scale to measure the actual tension in the 3 settings. They ranged from just over 14 lbs at the lowest tension (listed as 20 lbs in the instructions) to just over 16 lbs in the middle setting (listed as 40 lbs) to 19.8 lbs at the highest setting (listed as 60 lbs). So that is something to keep in mind. Perhaps the factory measures the tension differently than I do. For my part, I tried to first just attached the luggage scale to one end while using that to complete a chest compression. Second, I completely bent the exerciser and then inserted the travel scale to see how much tension was trying to pull it apart. I mention that it does a good job of working the chest. On the other hand, at least for my arm, when trying to execute the bicep curl, I couldn't get much range: you're pretty much done right before getting to the 90 degree angle. Your head gets in the way of the back exercise. The leg squeeze wasn't bad, but I kept worrying that it would slip out. Overall, it's a fun tool that is well designed, but fairly limited in what you can do with it. For my money, you are probably better off with exercise bands and a couple of door anchors.

Not a bad starter tool, but definitely more gimmick than gains

Picked this up mostly out of curiosity. Figured it might be a fun addition to the home gym for quick reps in between heavy sets. And hey, for what it is, it actually does okay. The resistance is on the lighter side, so it’s solid for low-resistance, high-rep workouts. Great if you're just getting into fitness, trying to bring out tone and definition, or looking to target chest and shoulder muscles without going full beast mode. Works especially well if you want to hit your pecs in a different way or add some variety to your routine. That said, let’s call it what it is: this thing is super gimmicky. The illustrations showing curls and behind-the-head moves? Yeah…not as smooth or effective as they make it look. Also, while it says it's adjustable, there's no real way to increase the resistance beyond the built-in spring tension. You also can't extend or shorten the length beyond 1 notch. So if you’re already hitting the gym regularly, you’ll probably outgrow this thing in a couple weeks. Overall, I’d give it a 3.5-star rating depending on how you use it. Good for beginners, folks recovering from injury, or anyone looking for some toning. But if you’re already slinging weights and doing regular push/pull days, this won’t replace anything in your main lineup.

Pretty cool

Not mad at this thing. At first I thought it was snake oil. But use this thing for one day and feel how quality it is, feel the ease of use. You can take it on the go, and get a good workout at work or anywhere you see fit. As for the value... I'd say it's pretty cheap to manufacturer. But that being said it is appropriately priced with other similar products.

I wouldn't recommend this product. The strenght is not enough to build mussle. The instructions on how to use it are terrible and the materials it is made of are not very durable.

imprecise but useful

If you're looking for an exact weight for very targeted work, this isn't it. But I wasn't looking for that. I wanted something that offered a flexible (in multiple ways!) option for me in the middle of the day, something I could leave by my desk and use easily. This really does that. The wide extent between tension is very broad and inexact, but it has to do with both the adjustments of the bar and other factors like use, but I don't think it ever really gets up to the high end. It feels a lot like a larger version of those grip exercisers. A few reps for a few minutes won't do much, but regular use in different exercises throughout the day can help keep the blood moving. It lays flat and is easily stowed away too. Lots of options with this and it's just a tool to get you to exercising muscles you may have forgotten about.

I ordered the arm trainer with the 20 to 60 pounds of resistance. It arrived in perfect condition and was easy to assemble. The steel has a smooth finish with no rough edges and the connector buttons function well. The foam padding is thick and appears durable. This trainer offers a variety of intense workouts providing flexibility in resistance. It’s an excellent device to use when traveling for a quick workout. I like it!
