A plus of the the product is that it’s compact for a home gym but the quality is not full commercial grade (and that's okay) but actually more akin to a home/light-commercial grade mix, so definitely superior to a standard product. Now, to me, it was perfect for our home gym, we didn't want a basic product, and we did not want to spend thousands of dollars on a commercial grade, nor did we have the room for something full commercial grade. This item was perfect for us (e.g., size, price point, functionality). To be clear, the only real concern of the grade is with the weight ratio and the Company has since reached out to us to help us understand our concerns, they informed us of the accessories that existed that allow for one to push a higher weight and why the accessory item is necessary (awesome customer service and people that really care for their product and the physical fitness journey), the product itself looks fantastic, operates well, and is fully functional and easy to use. PROS: You get two machines for the price of one! The machine is able to be adjusted quickly to transition from hack squats to leg press with relative ease. Engineering seems sound as my legs are growing and I am still here today. I have used up to 300 LBS of plates (recommended) and the machine handled this well. It does have a built in weight holder for your plates too, which is nice. CONS: When performing exercises, the overall weight does not feel as if it is a 1:1 ratio, due to what I assume is something to do with the double function/engineering design due to the way the mass of the weights are distributed while they are resting on the machine, (e.g., angles, etc.) from my experience as a commercial gym user of 6+ years, it feels like a .75:1 ratio (e.g., 300 lbs. feels like 225 lbs.) This was the original reason for our concern (hence 2 stars versus the 5 now) but have since mitigated that concern after speaking with the Company who advised us on some accessory items that allow for those users (like us who probably should have a commercial piece of equipment to move beyond the capabilities and limitations of this particular product). Now, how many people actually max out 300 LBS on a machine, but for those of us that do, what comes next? The answer is this, the Company makes an accessory item that allows you to add up to 200 more pounds, and using the subjective ratio I referenced above, that would be somewhere around 375 to 400 lbs which should get the job done for most of us females out there. For reference, I am about 145lb female lean/slim 5’5 and have had this product for a few months. My fiancée doesn’t feel the difference between commercial vs this product as he isn’t a regular user of the leg press at the gym.

I looked at several leg press / hack squat combo machines for months. I had narrowed my selection to two different products, and eventually ordered this one because of the two different placements for weights (underneath AND top/side) and it went on sale with free shipping. After ordering, I received a message from the seller through Amazon stating me that my machine was from a batch that may have alignment and cosmetic issues. The communication stated that if I had any issues to contact them and they would rectify immediately, and they would also extend the warranty for me. I found this ominous, and wondered what was in store for me once the product arrived. The product arrived in 3 boxes on two different days (one box was delayed by FedEx). It took me an hour to unbox everything and get the packing material out of the way. Boxing the parts into three boxes was an engineering feat all by itself. From there, it took about 3 solid hours (I split it up across two days) to put it together. Between the printed instructions shipped with the product, and the assembly video included here on Amazon, the assembly went smoothly (except for one part, which I'll mention in a second when I talk about the customer service). There was one part of the assembly that a second person would have been handy. The base is assembled first, then the "sled" portion. You then attach the sled portion to the base....and it's pretty heavy. I was able to get it on my own, but if my wife had been awake (I was excitedly putting this together late at night) I would have asked her to help. I really have to mention, because there are comments to the contrary here, that the customer support was absolutely fantastic. While the initial communication was a bit ominous, I appreciated the heads up. It took me a few days (due to Thanksgiving) to get around to assembling the product, In the meantime, knowing I had received it, I was sent another email asking if all had gone smoothly or if I had any questions/issues. I ran into one small issue during assembly with barely being able to move the safety rails after attaching them - I posted a question to the Amazon message thread I had with them to which they responded (what I assume was during their daytime) within a few hours. I was asked to send pictures as it was thought something had been assembled incorrectly. After re-watching the video I discovered I had indeed installed the shaft assemblies on the opposite sides. Once I corrected that, they moved freely and easily. At the completion of assembly, I noted the 2inch Olympic adapters for the storage pegs were missing the little screws that would secure them onto the pegs. I again posted to the Amazon thread I had with them to which they responded during my nighttime on the same day. They offered to send me the items (which they stated may take a week or so given the part was in short supply) or I could just order it from Amazon (they sent me information on what part to order) and they would re-imburse me $10. I ordered the part (for $6.99), informed them, and they again responded during my night time of the same day telling me they had credited my account the $10 (which they had). I used the machine for the first time a day later for leg day. As noted in the picture I put two plates on each side just to try it out. The sled moved easily and freely and the noise level was what I would expect from such a machine. It sounds like gym equipment. It feels super sturdy. I feel 100% safe using the machine. It takes less than 30 seconds to convert between leg press and hack squat mode. I can't wait until my next leg day when I'll load up more weight. This is a fantastic addition to my home gym. Coming in at around $700 it's still a significant amount of money, but if you had told me 4 years ago (when I started building my home gym) that I could have this machine as part of my home gym for $700, I wouldn't have believed you. Awesome product, great support. I can't say enough good things about this - I highly recommend.

After completing the first legs day with this machine, I am pleasantly surprised. This machine came in three boxes, all packaged well with zero damage. All parts where included. For the most part quality seemed on par with equipment form brand like Titan or Giant, except a few small things. The Good: Easy to follow instructions, took me just under 3 hrs, going slow and breaks, to complete alone. Help may be needed for lifting. When built on a level surface, the machine seemed stable without any rocking, flexing or movement. I am 6'2" and can get full ROM when playing with foot position and plate angles. This machine operates smoothly and seems to be able to handle an amount of weight most people are going to work with. The Not so good, and I'm being picky: The padding is meh. It is not uncomfortable to work on but isn't anything special. The leg press plate is small. I squat and press with a somewhat wide, toes out form and my toes hang off the plate, again I'm 6'2" with a 13 shoe. Works just fine but just a consideration. The pin that secures the leg press plate in the up position is cheap. It does not carry the load while pressing, but I can see the plastic handle piece being the first thing to break. All in all, this is. A must for any home gym. My wife and I were shocked a the quality for such a lower price. You could slap on a big brand logo and you wouldn't know any better. I recently added the GMWD Leg Press & Hack Squat Machine to my home gym and I’m genuinely impressed with how much value it brings. The build quality is excellent—the frame feels solid, the sled glides smoothly, and switching between hack-squat and leg-press mode is quick and intuitive. The footplate offers plenty of room for different stances, letting me target quads, glutes, and hamstrings effectively. However, if you’re looking for a wide foot plate this may not be for you (some people are more finicky then others so) The safety system is a nice touch and gives confidence when training heavy, and the included plate storage helps keep the setup neat. It’s one of those machines that really feels like a commercial unit but sized for a garage gym. The only thing I’ve noticed is that I can’t quite squat to full depth because of the safety stop—it limits the bottom range slightly (I’m shorter so that may be g the reason). I can add yoga blocks under the shoulder pads or a box on the foot plate to r extra depth if I really wanted. It’s not a deal-breaker, but worth mentioning if you prefer very deep hack squats. Overall, though, this machine is a fantastic piece of equipment for serious leg training at home. Smooth movement, strong construction, and a ton of versatility at a great price. Highly recommended.

This is a great machine. I have been looking at leg press machines for a while, but liked the idea of having a hack squat machine too if I'm paying the money. I went with this one over some slightly cheaper versions mainly because of the ball bearing mechanism, and while I am not sure if it's worth it or not, when you are spending around $1000 why not go ahead and get the one you want. I assembled this almost completely by myself which was frustrating at times and not without its difficulties but was doable, except for one step where you gotta get the actual piece with the hack squat handles that has the ball bearings on the bars it slides on because it has to be done in one all together step which makes doing it with one person extremely difficult. I got somebody to just hold something for me because it only took about 5 minutes for that step but would have been another 30-60min by myself. I have used the leg press and hack squat and it works great, the platforms are nice, the padded parts are nice and large enough and are easy to switch between hack and leg press. The catches are easy to lock and unlock and everything moves smoothly. It is really loud with the ball bearings sliding up and down, but who does leg day and is concerned about the noise they make... you probably aren't serious enough about weight lifting to justify spend $1000 on this machine if you are that person. I am not a very tall individual(5'8") and after reading some reviews I was concerned the range of motion would be restricted, but I can get full range of motion on leg press and hack squat without hitting the safety. I didn't expect to even really use the calf raise attachment, but I actually really like it and it allows for an extra stretch and range than just standing on the ground and after the first workout with it, my calves were sore for 2 days in a way I haven't had a muscle feel in over a decade which is great. I don't have bands and can't speak to how well the band adapters work, but I have no reason to think they wouldn't work. I have no negatives and the "least positive thing" I can say is the assembly was a little frustrating at times. I used to hate leg day, now I can't wait for leg day. UPDATE: I just wanted to add this comment as a disclaimer, recently they must have changed the design of the machine or maybe it is a different model, but the machine pictured is NOT the exact machine I have and is a little cheaper than the one I bought. This one does appear to be a step down from the one I have which reflects in the price. I love the one I have, but I cannot speak to anything good or bad regarding the model they have my review linked to now. I also can't find the model I have anywhere on amazon, so I'm guessing it was discontinued and this is what replaced it.

Short kings, take a knee. This review is for the Sequoias. You're a tall guy. You're looking to add this unit to your home gym. I'm 6'6'' tall (198cm for the people who haven't been to the moon). I pulled the trigger and got this unit for you. This is your review. In the hack squat mode, both back to the unit and face towards, I have 3''-4'' of additional clearance when fully extended. I have the bottom plate in a negative deficit to allow for my long femurs to get me deep in the squat. When I'm doing calves on this machine (face towards the back) I can clearly see how much room I have. When I extend during calf raises, I end with 1''-1.5'' of clearance left at the top. It would be my guess that the top range for height on this machine is likely 6'7'' or 6'8'' (for calf raises). Note, I have a size 15 shoe. If you are only going to do the hack squat and leg press, you're looking at 6'8-6'9'' max. For hack squat (which is most affected by height), I find the bottom plate plenty wide, with enough room to move my feet and legs around. I do mostly Tom Platz-like sissy squats with a foam yoga wedge under my heels to allow me to get knees over toes and calves to hams. The shoulder rests are wide enough that I don't feel any strain on my shoulders or neck. For the leg press, there's plenty of room when you put the backrest down. The plate you're leg pressing against does not give you much room to go 'wide'. You'll find your toes are hanging off the top of the push plate and that you need to press near the corners. I feel safe, but I wish the plate were just half a foot larger in both directions. That being said, it works fine, and I get my knees wide enough that when I get deep into the press my knees can get close to my shoulders. The adjustable safety catch at the bottom of both movements is low enough that I can get into a deep position for both leg press and hack squat. If you're a tall guy and you're looking to add this for legs/calves, I would give it a 4.8/5. It's worth the purchase. This is my second GMWD machine (I got the $200 chest press machine which is also great). I've been happy with the build quality, and the assembly was quick considering what you are building. Get out there and build some quads.

I love training legs, but I have incurred many injuries in my powerlifting career therefore the hack squat is the main reason I got this but was pleasantly surprised by the leg press variation. The reason I got this one was that the foot print works better with my garage set up. Instead of two support backings there is a single column upright that supports the machine. This allowed me to store 4 45lb plates on each side in the tight space I have. Oh course their LH01 model is the dream model, but that's for another day. This machine accommodates me well, I'm 6'2 and around 250lbs I have no issues throwing on 2 plates for the hack squat and 6-8 for the leg press. I can achieve full depth on both movements, if your a ROM manaic and need extra depth, just place some rubber 25lb plates on the foot pad and you'll be solid. I also have used banded resistance on the band pegs and the lower loadable weight horns of the machine. Speaking of weight horns, they are metal, thank goodness. Not plastic like I've seen on other companies home gym equipment in the past. The transition between hack squat and leg press is easy and casual, there's videos on this specific machine out there. Watch them if your curious. The construction was pretty casual, only mounted one thing backwards, it was a easy swap to set it back the other way. I used a Ryobi impact drill with some sockets and wrenches. Be careful, you can overtighten the bolts and bend the frame. When it shipped it showed up in three boxes, I got 2 in one day. And the last one the following. Check your Amazon messages for the three tracking numbers. Only compliant is I have a problem with one of the linear bearings inside the sled, it started making a clicking/grinding type of sound. I reached out to GMWD with my order info, and within 2 days they shipped 4 replacement bearings and a tool to deal with the snap rings. Even with the bad bearing making a ruckus, the operation is smooth as can be. I really have enjoyed this machine and dealing with GMWD, excellent customer service. This machine is worth every penny. I've been meticulously building a home gym for the last year but also not trying to break the bank. I'm not a pro bodybuilder so I don't need high commercial grade items but this comes very close to commercial quality, at least the hack squat portion. At 6,2 270lbs, this machine holds me and the added weight without a problem and operates smoothly. The degree that its at really makes you push harder to grow those legs. If the foot plate is in the lowest position, at my height it does lock out before im able to go deeper than parallel but in the high position as shown in the video i can break parallel and get a deeper stretch. It's recommended two people build it but i did it by myself with no issues in about 4 hours so it can be done solo. Instructions are clear and easy to read. My only complaint is how small the leg press plate is but that is standard for every combo unit like this. Still, I am able to get a good stretch and move weight smoothly for a proper leg workout without locking out. This is a must buy if you're looking to adding variation to your leg days! I will say they did ship it with care as all 3 boxes arrived the same day and were very well protected but don't expect FedEx to treat it nicely. Thankfully they packaged it nicely so it arrived with no issues, bends or missing parts.
