  • Perfect little air compressor.
Style: Compressor Only
I got this compressor after reading all the reviews and youtube.com. It works great. Every review I read said that is was quite and it is. What I wanted to know is the pitch of the sound, and I was not able to find anywhere I might put a youtube up of this but, it is a direct drive to the pump and it sounds like a very loud refrigerator. It does fill fast and does not take long to recover when using my 1/2 impact. It's over kill but I did replace all my fittings with Milton V style. I don't know what kind was on there but they were a simple push in (no need to pull back collar) I did replace the fittings with Milton V style for better flow and there appears to be a plug on the side of that manifold for a third. I put thread tape on the fittings put the air filter on and oiled it up and let run for about 20min with the air drain open then let it cool completely. Checked for oil leaks and any thing else all looked good, close the air drain and turned it on worked great and shut off right a 135psi. It held that pressure for a long time (at least 4 hrs) I couldn't wait wanted to use it, It all works great. Airing up tires, Impacts, blow gun taps a little, roofing nailer, hardwood floor nailer, haven't yet but I think it would run a paint gun well. whatever you can throw at it, it says 100% but.....? Ya. It is the best quality built and would buy another over others hands down. It is heavy but that is fine for me, the carry handle well position for carrying. My only complaint is the instructions say to not to use a extension cord and if you do a 10g is preferred. but the cord the you plug in is 14g. To me that didn't make much sense. ( I understand long runs to up the cord but then to have a 14 at the end?) In my uses the cord has never got warm but maybe something to keep in mind. The box was well intact its a super heavy duty cardboard box with packing straps and a glossy outside finish, its the original box from Ingersoll Rand and well stabilized inside. It made it to Alaska, and came on FedEx. If your on the fence on this just buy it, you will like it I know I sure do, just wish I had more projects to use with. ... show more

  • Great small compressor - built a shed with it.
Style: Compressor Only
I purchased this to replace a Craftsman compressor that I unfortunately used outside during the winter (around 36 degrees). The Craftsman stopped working so I needed another compressor. This one is great for a small compressor. I used it to build a 12x18 shed in the spring of 2013. I mainly used the Freeman framing nailer (PFR2190), the Freeman coil siding nailer (PCN65), and the Freeman coil roofing nailer (PCN45). I would get about half a dozen nails out of the framing nailer before the motor kicked on. I didn't nail fast (it was just me building the shed) so the compressor handled it fine. I would get more nails out of the coil nailers of course - they don't use as much air. It fills up in just a few minutes to around 110 psi. I usually set the output at 95 psi for the nailers and they work great. The fit and finish of the compressor is great. I have no problems with it. The quick connectors are nice brass, the hose between the tanks is braided steel, the frame is heavy duty and painted nicely, even the plastic output knob is fine. The only issue I had was that the pressure gauges were not usable when the unit was first delivered. The needles would have hit the top of the gauge housing had I used it (not centered I guess). I contacted IR and they put me in contact with the nearest IR dealer. He send two new gauges (I'm pretty sure he asked if I could install them myself - which I had no problem with). The gauges arrived, I removed the front face, replaced the gauges, reinstalled the front face and it worked great. The negatives are that it is loud (all small compressors are). And it vibrates (all small compressors do). But not more than the Craftsman or other small compressors. I have used it a handful of times since building the shed in the last 3 years. No issues. I plug it into 15-amp outlets with no problems. I definitely recommend this compressor. ... show more

  • Poor Shippin, Good compressor
Style: Compressor Only
Seems like a well built unit. They should have an installed sight glass for oil level instead of a dip stick. I am running it in for a quick break in, will change oil after about 30-45 min of run time, and again after another 15, so it should be very clean entering my limited service for this unit. It is much quieter than the little Craftsman it is replacing, which after about 15-18 months of use, just airing up tires, suddenly started stopping after about 30-40 seconds of run time, and smell like electrical burn. Was told by sears that repairs on the craftsman would be about 1.5 times what I paid for it, hence this purchase Amazon prime two shipping was a laugh! when I ordered it said in stock. I ordered on Oct 28, it did not actually ship until Oct 31 and I received it on Nov 2. ... show more
