  • Great Adjustable Stand for Any Size MacBook - But a Little Pricey
Style: HiRise for Laptops and MacBooks
My wife and I both own MacBook Pros and since we both do some work at home we decided to purchase an Apple Thunderbolt display to act as a docking station as well as external monitor. Since the Thunderbolt display sits a little higher than the MacBook Pros we wanted to get a stand that would allow us to raise the MacBook Pros off the ground so that the screen could line up with the Thunderbolt display and make it easier to work with the extended desktop. I had a hard time deciding between this product and the mStand but ended up going with the HiRise because it was adjustable and because to me it just looked better - although it was a little pricier. I've been using this product for several weeks now and have the stand set exactly at the height I want it - which allows me to have the bottom of the MacBook screen line up with the bottom of the Thunderbolt display. Pros: 1. Adjustable - since different MacBooks can have different size screen or footprints the ability to adjust makes it great for people like us who have different MacBooks - or for people who want to set how low or high off the ground they want their MacBook. 2. Sleek design - It looks great. It has an industrial design that goes well with Apple MacBook Pros. 3. Small footprint - once you put your MacBook on it you aren't going to see much of it - just a little of the stand - which is great for people like me who are minimalistic. 4. Rubber padding - it is on both the bottom of the base and on top of the stand. This keeps your MacBook in place and it keeps the stand in place and from scratching both your computer and your desk or whatever surface you put it on. Cons: 1. The price - $70 for a stand is pretty expensive - especially when you compare it to the mStand 2. The finish - maybe it's just me but we already have an area on the base where the finish is coming off or where something scuffed it that I can't remove. I have small kids so I'm sure it is probably something they did but I would think for the price the finish would be a little more durable. 3. It is hard to put your computer in the exact same place every time - if you are OCD like me and like to have certain things in their exact places this may drive you nuts as there is nothing on the stand to make sure you place your computer in the exact same spot each time. Conclusion: I know I listed 3 different cons but they are just small gripes - except for maybe the price - but it really is a great product. I would definitely purchase this product again and would recommend to anyone else who is in the market for a stand for their MacBook. ... show more

  • Crude spring and height adjustment
Style: HiRise for Laptops and MacBooks
Wish I had read a little more about the height adjustment before purchasing. I was expecting some sort of smooth scoping mechanism, similar to my (cheap!) ring light, and being able to adjust to a greater range of heights. However, the height adjustment on this is very limited, maybe you can get a one or two inch variance but there is not a lot of flexibility. It's basically spring loaded, using the screw to tighten and hold the spring down if you want it lower than the highest setting (which is not all that high). Makes an awful screeching metal noise while you're adjusting, too, so it's more of a set it and done thing, not flexible or adaptive if you plan to move around during the day. I have not had any issues with wobbling or sliding, and the stand I received has no finishing problems. It's straight, too ... show more

  • Beautiful, High-Quality Macbook Stand! Best on The Market, Though Doesn't Come Cheap!
Style: HiRise for Laptops and MacBooks
This is a very high quality stand. The packaging, first off, was very nice. It shouldn't break during transport, unless somebody sits on it or throws it really hard. I took it out of the box and it was easy to adjust to the height I wanted. With a 2011 Macbook Air 13", the webcam is right at my eye level now. I look slightly down while I am typing, but it is very comfortable for me. I'm glad I chose this product over other stands I was considering. It is very high end. I also like the fact that there is open space below the laptop in case I need to put something there. Some other stands that I was considering didn't have this open space. My one and only complaint so far, and not about the stand itself, is that this is one pricey product. I went to their website and most of their other products are on the high end and priced high in accordance. It is true that you get what you pay for, and the quality is very good. However, because of the high price, I waffled for several weeks before deciding this was the best one. I'd also like to get their stands, but it was hard to justify the price and ended up getting stands made by other companies for my other devices (Spindo, and Satechi). You'd think that there would be a package discount of some sort, or ways to reduce the cost, but I didn't see anything on their website. Overall, I spend around 200 bucks to trick out my desk, and this stand alone took nearly 40% of my budget. I just got this stand on Saturday (4/23/2016) and it is now Monday (4/25/2016). I hope this stand will still be in good condition 10 years from now considering what I paid. Regardless, I am glad that I paid a bit extra for a very high quality stand. I would highly recommend this stand to other Mac users. In the end, I bought this stand after weeks of looking around, and I think it will be worth spending the extra $20 bucks or so to get it. ... show more
