I’ve had this TUUMIIST 18pc White Kitchen Knife Set with Block and Sharpener for a little over 2 months. I really wanted to see how the white utensils would hold up their appearance. Knowing that tomatoes can stain easily, I “marinated” the pasta server directly in cold marinara for almost 2 hours. The white silicone did absorb some minor yellowing after this intentional abuse, but I had to examine it closely to notice it. I suspect that over time, the staining may become more obvious. I’ve run these through my dishwasher several times and they hold up without any signs of wear after more than 2 months. The selection is good for a small family. There are only 4 steak knives, so if you are planning to match them for a larger group, you may need more. The knives are sharp enough, but not the sharpest that I’ve owned. They do a fair job cutting steak. I compared the sharpness with other knives that I have by slicing some cherry tomatoes. These made a mushy mess while resisting the skin, while my others made nice clean slices. The built-in knife sharpener is handy, but didn’t make these knives better than my higher quality blades. The utensils seem sturdy, if not slightly smaller than I’d prefer. There will be a use for these under specific circumstances, but I will more commonly defer to my larger slotted turner and spoon. The silicone is securely molded over the wooden handles. I don’t expect that they will come loose for a long time. The two-piece magnetic block is very attractive and well organized. I love the ability to separate the utensil and knife blocks, although I really love the way they look together and the convenience of everything in one place. The insides of the slots weren’t painted completely. It appears that the boxes were assembled, then spray painted. This left a gradient of a thinning finish the deeper you looked into them. It’s not something you will notice unless you look deeply into them and there’s no concern on my part. Some great thought went into this package. Besides having a built-in knife sharpener, the sharp scissors also have a can opener and bottle opener included. This set is apparently no longer being sold in white. I can only speculate, but if I were making the selection, black would be less noticeable for stains. TUUMIIST is currently offering the black set for $39.99 ($59.99 – 33% discount) and an additional $5 off coupon. Comparing with similar sets on Amazon, this would be a great recommendation for yourself or gift giving. PROS: - Great organization with attractive 2 pc. Magnetic block - Nice selection for small group of 4 or less - Nice amenities including built-in knife sharpener, scissors with bottle and can opener - Good starter combo CONS: - Knives are functional, but not extraordinary - Slightly smaller utensils - White is suspect to long term staining
