  • Best for the Price
Color: Black Edition: Recon Controller
It's annoying trying to find a decent PC controller that isn't in the $100-$200 range. Let's say you want a pretty good controller that does the bare minimum but you want something durable and feels good to use. Almost impossible. Everything comes with a ridiculous amount of features from trigger tension switches, audio/mic controls, extra buttons in general, RBG lighting, etc etc... Just a lot of them have an unnecessary amount of clutter and usually they are features that you'll never use and knocks the price margin up drastically. Yet cheap controllers are terrible with their toggle sticks dying out fast, their buttons sticking or losing their input feel, and the whole nine yards of degradation. This is a great controller in the basic fields. The wire is good and sturdy, definitely excels among ones that use like a cheap USB-C plug that you'll damage in a week and the cord itself is fabric threaded which is just nice overall protection to it. It also tries to keep features to a bare minimum so extra buttons don't kill hand comfortability. It doesn't have the most amazing grip in the world, but it is the standard so I'll consider it a plus. Trigger pull feels excellent and all buttons have a nice press. Toggle sticks also feel responsive and I don't see them losing their ability to stay stiff. Only thing I didn't like personally was how light it is. Though, I know a lot of people prefer their controllers to not have weight so you'll probably enjoy that. Overall, Turtlebeach made a really good cheap controller. ... show more

Color: Black Edition: Recon Controller
Ok, a few things to say about this controller and why I purchased it in the first place. I hope this review helps and sorry if it is a bit lengthy. I purchased this specific controller because originally I purchased a PowerA controller with the extra back buttons at my local Wal*Mart. I saw thousands of good reviews and stars on Amazon and so I thought why no. Due to the fact my original Xbox One controller was starting to feels its wear and tare from over the years. Less then 3 months later the left joystick wouldn't go forward and it would jitter. It felt cheaply made, like badly, creaking sounds all the time just from holding it. The power light wouldn't always be on, so I was unsure if I had it plugged in correctly. I kept my receipt and box for warranty and I contacted PowerA for a replacement, which took from time of contact till the arrival, just a day of two weeks. During that time I looked at this Recon controller and wasn't sure because of price was high but then it went down by $15. So heck yeah! Got it in the day after my PowerA replacement arrived. Tried it right away and WOW! Immediate and clear upgrade. 1) The controller doesn't feel cheaply made, it feels really solid. 2) Super Responsive, playing 1st person shooters and Elden Ring games, I had to adjust a bit because it was to accurate. I was over doing it and now I don't need to. 3) Packaging was done right, registered it as well right away. Loved the braided cord and it being USB-C type just makes it so much more better. The Latency is so little, just light speed. 4) Using for headset and trying everything out for the chat part is great, very helpful and love the layout of the buttons at the top instead of having to feel around on the bottom like others. Plus with the D-Pad part of the controller, I love how it isn't just UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT. It has the notches I guess you would say for upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right. It does make a difference, especially in side scrolling games like Street Fight and Mortal Kombat, which I personally do no use the joysticks for. I honestly wish I didn't originally cheap out with the PowerA, but glad that I learned a lesson and I hope this review helps others in decisions like this. I know Turtle Beach is just coming into the lime light of controllers now, but so far so good. I will give an update if something bad happens. ... show more

  • Great controller, but...stick drift and cheap back buttons
Color: Black Edition: Recon Controller
This is a good controller, comfortable, and very easy to set up. Im on my third recon, all have had stick drift. TB has built-in a way you can re-calibrate the controller to fix the stick drift, but doesnt always fix the drift. (Check their website for directions on how to recalibrate for stick drift) The back buttons are made of plastic and can break and get stuck. I took apart the controller and glued the back button to fix it and havent had a problem since. My biggest thing is the stick drift. TB should start using anti drift sticks in all their controllers like their new version Stealth controller. Over all this is a good controller, best bang for your buck. Just understand there will be stick drift, which can be corrected, and the back buttons will not last long if you push them to hard. I would recommend this controller though. I will be upgrading to the Stealth in a month or two. ... show more

  • Great
Color: Black Edition: Recon Controller
I bought the Turtle Beach Recon. I've tried 5 separate controllers for my Xbox Series S, over the past two weeks. This is the one I've kept. I tried the Nacon Revolution and Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma - both had an innate deadzone that couldn't be reduced to a level that I like, so I did not enjoy using those. I tried 3 PowerA Fusion 2's, and they had terrible stick drift with my current Apex Legends settings. All 3 of them. I tried the Microsoft Elite Series 2, and the movement is too "fluid" for my liking, if that makes any sense; the aiming controls were not "aggressive" enough, almost as if the analog sticks didn't reset quickly enough. I don't know. But what I do know, is that this controller is the one that I tried and truly felt was delivering exactly what I needed. The analog sticks are tight and responsive. The sound settings are great (not Dolby Atmos great, but great for what it's worth). It feels good in my hands. The back paddles were easilyrecapped, and they feel good to press - and the location is comfortable. Here's to hoping for longevity 🤞 ... show more
