    • Wish the rubber was a bit stronger and the screw a bit longer.
The protective rubber isn't very durable. The metal underneath broke through and scratched my trumpet. The screw is a bit short. You need to completely unscrew it in order to get it on the trumpet. This might not be much of an issue if it was easier to squeeze the two side together in order to get the screw to thread back in so you could tighten it onto the trumpet. ... show more

Bought for my high school freshman and he told me it was not easy to use for marching band. He requested another style which was a lyre with an attached flip folder. When I bought him the other version he confirmed that this version was harder to use. Primary issue was that he needed to be able to attach and detach the lyre from his trumpet quickly during marching band performances. ... show more

Apparently, lyres arenโ€™t made very well and this one is no exception. I asked my childโ€™s band director what we needed and she said the best bet is to memorize the music because all lyres are made cheaply. Seems like a good project idea for someone to come up with!

    • They are junk don't waste your money.
If you can get it to tighten up enough to stay on you will likely strip the screw and it will never work again. I've been a band director for 30 years and have thrown away hundreds of these things. Get a Deg or Bach lyre if you don't have an adjustable 3rd valve ring. If yoy do, a simple bent lyre is 100 times better. This thing is junk. ... show more
