Top Amazon Reviews

  • Decent quality at great price
Size: Standard Version Color: Black
This review covers two CAHAYA products: - 5 in 1 Dual Use Sheet Music Stand - Guitar Stand Floor Universal I bought them together, use them together, and have similar feedback on them, so am cross-posting this review for both products. I am an amateur, non-gigging player and have no need of (and cannot afford!) professional quality stands. However, I am tired of purchasing lower-end products that are poorly-designed and poorly manufactured using inferior materials. CAHAYA has hit the sweet spot offering decent quality stands at affordable prices. This music stand came as part of a kit including a desktop adaptor, travel bag, music clip, and sheet music folder. Personally I have little use for the folder, but it's a nice touch to include it. The desktop adaptor and clip work well when you need them. The bag is great and I use it whenever I need to quickly vacate the family room for visitors. It even accommodates my CAHAYA guitar stand. Everything (except the sheet music folder) breaks down quickly and goes into the bag in about a minute. The most important piece--the music stand itself--is well-designed and well-manufactured. Most important for me is that it easily accommodates thick three-ring binders full of music. It adjusts to any height I need, whether sitting or standing. For daily, same-location amateur use, this music stand kit is a bargain. If you expect to break it down, pack it up, throw it in a vehicle and reassemble it several times a week, you should probably go more high-end. (But if you just don't have the budget to do so, this kit can probably survive some length of pro service as long as you don't abuse it ) The CAHAYA Universal Floor Guitar Stand is similar to the music stand in terms of materials, reliability, and value: an absolute bargain for a single-location amateur. If you expect to set it up in different venues every week where it might get knocked over by a drummer stumbling toward his or her kit or by a drunk audience member, you should probably go more high-end. But this stand is light years better than some of the products that are just $10 cheaper. Some people complain that it holds the guitar too high, making it too unsteady. I was a little concerned about this at first, but I use it for a relatively heavy bass, and have never had a problem. In fact, the cradle appears to be high to accommodate the adjustable tripod legs, so it was designed this way for a reason. My only minor complaint is that you need to completely remove bolts, knobs, nuts, and washers when fully collapsing the stand. If you expect to be doing this a lot, there's a good chance you're going to drop and lose a piece at some point. Otherwise, this stand is a great solution for anybody on a budget that won't be abusing their equipment. ... show more

  • Excellent music stand
Size: Standard Version Color: Black
The construction and weight of the music stand are excellent. I like the design and for my purposes this stand has served me well. The price is very reasonable for what you get. I did not buy this music stand for all of the extras they throw in to entice people to buy this product. All I was interested in was the basic music stand. And for that, I gave it a 5-star rating. The extras are nice, but unnecessary. The music clip is well made and a nice add-on. The carrying case is nothing to brag about. The binder for the music is okay. Definitely not something that could not be easily replaced and more functional with a regular binder and protective sleeves. The photo of the binder is quite misleading in the ad. The cover is soft plastic with the document sleeves fasted to the cover by being melted to the cover at the center. Not something that will be easy to flip pages during a concert or even just practicing. I have a large, heavy music book on my stand in addition to the large new iPad. Add to that a sturdy LED battery operated light on top, and it still holds everything without a problem. I bought this music stand for the stand alone and for that, it was well worth the money. This stand is even better at a lower price than the Amazon basics music stand. Ignore all of the extras. If you want a good music stand, I highly recommend this one. Its wide foot print for the legs makes this stand very stable. ... show more

  • Great, solid stand
Size: Standard Version Color: Black
I bought one of these, and then I was so pleased that I bought two more! I now have two black and one white, which is what I ordered. Easy to assemble and solid, and a little heavier than most portable stands, so it doesn’t knock over or blow over as easily. Also, the tray does *not* fold, which means it does not get as small as many other folding music stands—which means it is not as easy to store when not in use. I also really like that it can be used as a table-top music stand. Each one came with the adjustable height stand itself (duh), a zip-up carrying case, a little adaptor for using it on a table top, and a removable clip for holding sheet music in place. Two of them also came with flimsy little notebooks with transparent sleeves for holding sheet music, but I just use a binder (which the stand, happily, is strong enough to hold). I think all three were supposed to have one of those notebooks, but oh well; no great loss. Oh, and the stand also has a built-in pair of nifty, flexible little clips for holding pages down from the bottom. If you don’t mind a music stand that takes up a little more space in your house, this one is worth considering. I liked it (them) well enough to write this review! ... show more

  • Much lighter weight than my previous music stand
Size: Standard Version Color: Black
I just purchased this new stand to replace the Stagg stand I've been using for the last few years. I've given the new one just 4 stars as I've only used the new stand once and that was indoors. I am the lead vocalist with a local band and we do a lot of gigs outside. I live in Nebraska and we have a lot of windy days. In fact the last time we played the wind was so strong that it ripped the portable canopy we were under from it's supports and sent it sailing out of the parking lot and down the street. It almost took out our fiddle player and her instrument. Luckily she ducked just in time. My other stand was blown completely over sending my music book flying along with everything else. I'll add to this review in a few months when I have a better idea of how it will stand up. Now as far as this new stand is concerned, it appears to be very well constructed, and is very easy to assemble. One of the features I Really like about it is that the music shelf can be used as a tabletop or desk top easel. The shelf easily accommodates my 3 inch binder with all of my music, and the built in arms that hold the pages in place eliminates the need, so far, to have to resort to clothes pins to keep pages in place. This stand was also a lot cheaper in price: $27.00 aa opposed to $35.00. The stand also comes with it's own carry bag that is also of good construction. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. ... show more
