I used this tripod for about 9 months, when the quick release lock broke in a checked bag in transit. Not necessarily Victiv's fault. Thankfully, I was still in the manufacturer warranty period, and was sent a new tripod when I sent a picture the break. Awesome!

This tripod works very well if you only need to film while the camera is being held still. It doesn't work well in grass, just hard surfaces. The slightest tap on the tripod can make it shake. However, it does have alignment bubbles to help keep it level, which is very nice.

This tripod might be ok for general use. It's lightweight, the legs extend and retract smoothly. Its constructed with aluminum tubes and plastic controls. Buying a renewed unit,, received only 1 quick release plate and a phone holder that allows attaching a phone in 2 different positions. Worked well for setting up on slightly uneven surfaces by extending the legs to different lengths until the tripod head was level. the bubble level on tripod is only visible from the top so it won't help unless you can see it from above. I'm returning it because it doesn't work well for ultrazoom photography. Was difficult to precisely aim and then lock in place without the aimpoint bouncing back slightly or drifting.

This is purely cosmetic. The handle at the connection side came scratched.. the most irritating thing is seeing the metal interior on the head portion (in picture).. however, this doesn't seem to affect performance. As It's very smooth in operation of head movements.

The tripod operates smooth enough. It's no fine tuned machine, but for the price, it does the job. The first tripod that I received had a malfunction where the hand crank would get stuck and not raise the height of the center extension piece. I communicated with the seller, and they were very good in getting the issue resolved, so that was a great experience. The is really my first tripod, so I don't have much to compare it to other that a little cheapo selfie-stick mini tripod thing I had bought one Amazon a few days before. That thing was so wobbly and unstable, I returned that, paid a little more money for this and was glad I did. I'm just using this for making home movies with my cell phone currently, so I didn't want to go pay hundreds of dollars just to get a smooth rotating head tripod.

This is a very lightweight, budget tripod. It wasn't the right tripod for my application - mounting a 6 lb spotting scope, but it would be a good choice for casual use with smartphones, go pros, or lighter cameras or camcorders. For these applications, the Victiv tripod is just fine and a very cost-effective choice. I ended buying a couple price points higher in the $100-120 range and the difference in quality was substantial. Thicker gauge aluminum, bigger diameter tubes, higher quality metal hardware, and superior metal pan head. Again I needed a more heavy duty solution, so needed to pay more for something appropriate. I'm sure that if I had paid even more - $150-200, the quality would have been even better. But going from 40 to 100 tripod was a quantum jump and a sensible upgrade depending on your budget and application.

This tripod is lightweight, compact, and extends to a very tall height. I am extremely pleased with it. When I begin to pan either left or right, there is a little bit of play before you start to move the fluid head. This makes for a little bit of the shakiness that I was hoping to eliminate when I transitioned to the fluid head. Once my motion is started, the fluid head provides for a very smooth journey all the way to my endpoint. I have never used a more expensive mount, but I have certainly used a less expensive one. You get what you pay for, and at the end of the day, I am pleased with this purchase and am not prepared to take the next step up the quality (and price) ladder.

Good value for money. Much better than $40 tripod I got and returned before buying this one. It's not Manfrotto but will be sufficient for the most amateur videographers. I use it to record tennis and soccer trainings of my daughter and it works fine. Cons: It's very lightweight which is beneficial for many people but I'd prefer more heavy and stable. Phone holder is not ideal for big phones (iPhone 14 pro max with case). I may look for 3rd party holder.
