I have used Tresemme hairspray for at least 20 years, but over the last decade or so I've really gotten more into specialized salon products instead (the one thing that hasn't changed is that haisrpray, though!). I finished my last $30 Ouidad gel and then spotted this- worth a try! There are things I like and things I don't, but the main point is that this gel is great for under $7. If you are starting your curly hair journey or would rather spend your hard earned money elsewhere, this product will do the job perfectly well. Pros: -Smells great but doesn't take over and clash with perfumes -Easy to coat hair and create a cast over curls -Easy to crunch out, doesn't leave residue -Price Cons: -If you air dry, this doesn't dry down as quickly as a salon product so it takes longer to be able to crunch -A little bit sticky even when it has dried down enough to break the cast, BUT this seems to actually create an easier day 2/day 3 reactivation for the curls -Can be a little harder to get an even cast because the gel is more lumpy than watery ... show more

The great feature of the TRESemme hair gel is that it does not flake when dry. I applied some to my dried hair in order to test the product. It gives a wet appearance at first. However, it will dry to the touch. There is a scent on your hand if you touch your hair, however, it does not have a strong scent that someone sitting next to you will notice. I didn't notice any greater hold with Ultra (the highest hold at 5) vs. Extra (at hold rating of 4.) Both are great and you can't go wrong with either. I love this brands shampoo and conditioner so I thought I would give this frizz control a try. I have curly/ wavy hair and it tangles and frizzes all the time. I have tried many different products from many different brands over the years. I have to stay, I am impressed with Thai one. For the asking price, it did a good job. A little bit is all you need and it helped with my frizz control. I would not say it’s the best I have ever tried, but honestly for the price and how well it does work, I think this will be my go to brand. I also like the smell, or somewhat lack of. I use hair gel to keep my hair styled and out of my face. What I really like about this TRESemmé gel is that it holds very well and does not make my hair feel crunchy after it dries.

Really nice and easy to use gel, it gives a really nice long lasting hold to the hair without making it feel too crunchy. I've used it to help hold curls as well as to slick my hair back for wearing a wig and it works great! I don't need to use a lot to get good hold.
