Put it on last night and went for a spin, tons of power. I have it on a 16x8 ft pontoon boat. Perfect, getting rid of the gas engine.. going quiet. Update, been using this daily since installing it. I usually have to charge once a week. We go daily around a 85 acre pond plus back and forth daily..across the pond. Would like a longer shaft but this works great on the pontoon boat. I'd been running an old Minn Kota 4HP for several years and, on a whim, decided to cash in my Amazon gift certificates to get this motor. The 4HP seemed to put out quite a bit of vibration noise, the metal shaft was scored in various places to the point where certain spots wouldn't allow the motor to be tightened down enough to keep it from drifting to the side. So... Here I am with a nice shiny, new Traxxis 80. Sitting on the back of a Coleman Scanoe for about a month now, I get a top speed of 5.2 MPH versus 4.6 from the 4HP. Very nice! The tilt on the handle is also good for steering while standing up. (Yeah - the Scanoe is that stable) And, so far, the Traxxis is a lot quieter than the old motor - another positive. The last good thing I can say about it is that the battery life seems to be a bit better. I don't know if the Maximizer technology has gotten better over the years or if it just my imagination. I just seem to be able to go further than before. What I don't care for has to do with the mounting. While it's nice to be able to simply lift and stow the motor with one hand, the all plastic bracket doesn't seem nearly as durable as the cast metal brackets on the old motors. Only time will tell on that issue. On top of that, the collar for the steering tension control isn't very precise. If I don't keep my hand on the tiller to stay on the track I want, I tend to drift slowly to the right or left. I don't mean it's loose to the point where I'd eventually be going around in circles. I mean it's hard to set on an exact line and needs slight pressure to stay on course. And, lastly, the mounting clamp screws now have plastic tabs that are attached with tension pins. They look awfully cheesy compared to the tee handles on older models - something else I hope doesn't become a durability issue. All in all, I like the motor. I just wish I could get past what all companies seem to be doing - cutting out quality parts in the name of lowering production costs to maximize profits. Sometimes "new and improved" isn't as good as "old and lousy". ... show more

shipping excellent ordered sunday got it tuesday! crazy fast shipping. out of the box this troller is amazing, i had the same troller in a minn kota 70 24 volt. this 80 is an animal very powerful, i really like the new design for tipping the motor up. cant go wrong with Minn Kota.

As advertised. I'm using this on a 16' pontoon boat on a fairly calm lake. Works great. At trolling speeds, it will run for hours. Plenty of reasonable thrust for a 16' pontoon boat. Quality is as expected for a top of the line, well known brand.

This purchase is working out great! Lots of power for my 16 foot drift boat. I can easily run back up current to fish the same water again and again. Last week we ran into a strong head wind and would not have made it to our destination without this motor! Love it-quiet, and does not stink!

Trolling motor was delivered damaged in a perfect box, Had to take it to an authorized Minnkota dealer and then found out it had a broken prop it was returned at some point and never inspected. Besides that problem the motor works great!
